I loved the text reminders on my phone and I really appreciated the FAQ's section on their website. When I entered I was pleasantly surprised at the decor. I felt like I walked into a friend's living room! I expected the overpowering scent of spray tan, but was pleased to find that was not the case! When she called me back I was nervous about how this was going to go. Was I going to have to stand naked, spread eagle while this complete stranger sprayed me down? She was SO kind and really made me feel comfortable. She told me I could leave on as much as I felt comfortable with or I could have on nothing at all. I liked having a choice and I chose to leave on my undies. Once the spraying process began she was so respectful and made me feel so comfortable. Not once did I feel judged or uncomfortable about my body in front of her. She told me how to make my tan last longer, which soaps to use and what to expect. Did I mention my tan looks AMAZING?!?

I booked directly with a student over a month ago for a full highlight service and had the appointment confirmed by her. Leading up to the appointment I checked in with her asking for an estimate on how long my appointment would take. She responded with a time estimate and I responded back. That was our last interaction over text before my appointment. Fast forward to the day of my appointment I arrive and am being checked in by a front desk lady who asked for my name and who I was there to see. She was confused and told me that my name was not on the list for today. I told her who I booked with and that I confirmed this date with her around a month ago and even checked in with her this past week regarding the time it would take to get my hair done at my upcoming appointment. Then the front desk lady says that she was told (by someone idk who) that I called and canceled my appointment yesterday. I was then confused myself and told her that I had been planning to come today and didn't cancel with anyone. At this point in the conversation the stylist who was supposed to do my hair finally acknowledged me and came over to ask for my name. I told her my name and after about 30 seconds of her looking at her phone she said that "she mis scheduled me". I told her that I might be able to work around it and asked for when she put me down for. Ultimately the date she put me down for on her calendar was not going to work for me and neither her or the front desk lady offered to set up another appointment time with me. They were apologetic but also kind of dismissive about it. Im just left confused as to how the front desk lady said I called and cancelled my appointment but then the student who was supposed to do my hair said she mis scheduled me. Those two things don't align. Anyways. To anyone booking directly with a student at Alexander Paul, I would probably call the salon after booking through text message with your stylist to prevent any confusion and double check that you are in fact in their system for the date you have an appointment with them.

This is a training school; instead of being a con, this is actually a pro. Because of that, the students (hairstylists) are working very hard; they are detail-oriented and careful. The lead instructor comes around afterward to "approve" the plan and then to "sign off" on the service before you leave and make any corrections, if necessary (though usually not). The staff are very friendly and they can sometimes get you in for an appointment same-day. One thing to note is that they do not take tips when you pay with card, so you have to Venmo your stylist instead. Highly recommend coming here if you live in the area.
