I recently came to wags over a stray I had found the other day, after picking up the stray, wasting gas, and driving to wags, the silly asian girl volunteering was so weird and rude, asked where i found the dog, i said in stanton because they asked for the city, she proceeds to say no what does it actually say on your drivers license, stanton i replied again, she then goes really you live in stanton, pulled out my id to show her like you think im making it up?? I found this place to be very disappointing because of the lack of communication and consistency throughout the adoption process. We visited last Sunday and met the sweetest dog. At first, we were told the dog was a male, but the next day we found out she was actually female. Since the rescue was closed on Monday, there wasn't much we could do. Yesterday, Tuesday, I reached out before closing time to confirm her age and ask what steps we needed to take to place her on hold but we were told they didn't know much about her and to check back today in the afternoon. The dog wasn't listed as of this morning at 8 am, and they open at 1 pm. When I reached out today, I was surprised to learn that she had already been placed with someone else. I completely understand that the staff are volunteers, and I appreciate the time they give to helping animals. However, a little empathy, clear communication, and professionalism would have made a huge difference. Their answers were short and blunt, no explanations were given, as we were invisible and unworthy of their time. Thankfully, there are many wonderful rescue organizations and countless animals still waiting for loving homes. Our family is committed to adopting a rescue, we just need to find the right organization to work with. What disappointed me most was feeling like we weren't given a fair opportunity. I grew up with both dogs and cats, and every one of our pets lived long, happy lives, most for 12-15 years, and our last rescue dog lived to be 16. If potential adopters are being screened, I hope those decisions are based on meaningful factors and not on assumptions or first impressions. Every family deserves to be treated with respect, and every adopter deserves honest, timely communication, which WAGS fails to do. read more

I didn't want to make a review since I got a kitten from them but after reading the reviews I urgently ask you to consider. FIP is an EXTREMELY EXTREMELLLY rare disease that many vets aren't even familiar with due to its rare nature. My kitten I adopted here had FIP. Multiple reviews also state their cats had FIP and I knew someone personally who got their cat at WAGS and it came with FIP. I knew something was wrong with my cat so I brought it back to wags and their vet took one look at him and returned him home to me saying "he was perfectly normal" when all his symptoms (lethargy, bloated, not eating, diarrhea, breathing) pointed towards something severely wrong. A few weeks later I took him to another vet outside. HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH FIP. I knew it and already told the WAGS vet this but she refused it. My vet told me my kitten was very close to dying but since the medication just got approved by the FDA a few months ago, my bay fortunately survived but it was a very very expensive and stressful journey. My cat has scars and bald spots from the medication and was screaming with pain from the injections. There was a Facebook group for FIP support and someone also got their cat from WAGS and it had FIP. The amount of cats walking out of here with FIP is concerning because it costs thousands to treat and is so painful for the cat. I called wags back to inform them of their neglect and all the front lady could say over the phone was "we're so sorry. The only option is to put him down." That was literally all. I had no words. While yes, some cats get put down for FIP, please know there is treatment for FIP now and there is hope if your cat has FIP. This place also had extremely mean workers and I hope they read this review and know that their neglect and cold hearts have killed so many innocent animals. My uncle met a sweet corgi mix named Sadie yesterday during one of the organization's volunteer walks. We immediately let WAGS know we were seriously interested and planned to come the following day around 4 PM specifically to meet and adopt her. We rearranged our schedules and drove out there excited and hopeful. Then, while we were literally 10 minutes away, we called and were abruptly told by Cortney Dorney that Sadie had already been adopted an hour earlier. No courtesy call. No email. No attempt to notify us despite them knowing we had committed to coming. What makes the situation even more questionable is that the volunteer with Sadie had told my uncle the dog still needed a vet check before she could officially be adopted. Apparently that requirement disappeared the moment another family showed up with money. The whole process felt careless and transactional. Instead of thoughtfully matching dogs with good homes, it felt like a first-come, first-served scramble where communication and fairness don't matter. We were also concerned that there seemed to be no proper home verification done before handing Sadie over, which makes you wonder how seriously they actually screen adopters. The worst part was the complete lack of empathy. Cortney was dismissive and rude on the phone, acting like our frustration was an inconvenience rather than a completely understandable reaction after being led on and ignored. After reading other reviews describing similar experiences, it's clear this isn't a one-time mistake. WAGS seriously needs to improve its communication, professionalism, and adoption procedures if it actually cares about both the animals and the people trying to give them homes. read more

Please do your research on this place. I was looking for a dog to fit my lifestyle and found a french bulldog. Right off the bat something was wrong. The worker that was there to answer some questions for me didn't know what dog I had with me or the age ( I was told first 6 months then 6 years while online it said 4 years old). I was also first quoted $200 for the dog. When I didn't make a decision right away I was told to leave the room since "another family was going to see" the dog. Even though it was only 15 minutes before closing. Then when I wanted to go and adopted the dog I came back 4 days later and was quoted $600. Since a french bulldog is "expensive and we want to be sure that the dog is going to a family that is financially able to afford her". After I left I was texted and quoted $205 for the French bulldog. It was a whirlwind. We had a great experience here with the adoption process. I was a little hesitant since there were so many negative reviews. I can only write on our experience only. We visited 3 times before adopting teenage cat. They were very helpful and they were quite busy as well so it took a bit to get through the process. We did the online application and met our lil man and took him to his forever home. I can understand when people have set their eyes on a specific adoptee online as we saw some that were adopted right away. But we are happy that they find homes too. My husband and I rescued a small kitten on the 22 freeway. Since it was in Westminster they allowed us to drop the kitten off here. ( we have three animals and unfortunately don't have space for another) We were greeted with the most cold hearted woman I have met in my life. She proceeded to guilt trip my husband and I stating all the intake cages are infected with rabies, mange, scabies, etc. she said the kitten looks sick ( it had an eye infection and fleas only) and doesn't think it would make it. She then said we will do our best to keep it alive but no promises. Who in their right mind would make someone that rescued an animal feel guilty like that? We were trying to do the right thing and get this poor baby some help. The woman couldn't even look us in the eyes. What was the point of making us feel like that? Be careful getting an animal here since they don't clean up the intake cages and the place is riddled with mange and rabies. read more

I've came here once with my partner to look around.. they have dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets. The dogs seem like they weren't really taken care of... basic needs like grooming (fur was over grown, matted and it was HOT. Note these dogs stayed outside with no a/c, they can at least groom them to keep them cool) that's just my experience. So I call back a few months later to donate items like dog bowls, food, toys etc They didn't pick up the phone by the way. I did reach them through text. They said they weren't accepting donations at the time. Like really...?? Someone really needs to look into this place and get these people fired with a whole new line of employees that actually care about these animals instead of just showing up to work, picking up a paycheck and not even answer the phone! I remember this one time I went to buy something at Daiso (Japanese mini store across the parking lot) around 6/7pm and heard a loud dog bark/crying for a long time... now I've come to realize it came from this establishment. We were excited about the possibility of adopting a pet, but unfortunately, our experience was completely ruined by the behavior of one of the employees. A woman with glasses and short hair was extremely rude, yelling and even using inappropriate language. It was shocking and disappointing, especially in a place dedicated to finding homes for animals. We came in ready to give a dog a loving home, but because of this employee's unprofessionalism, that didn't happen. We adopted Bruiser formerly known as Truffle about 2 and a half weeks ago already and our hearts are so full of love for him. Bruiser gets along with our 3 crazy dysfunctional cats and has taken the role of man of the house. Bruiser enjoys walks and basking in the sun. Although he came home with a pretty bad upper respiratory infection it's nothing his momma can't deal with. We adopted our cat Remi about 10 months ago when she was a 2 month old kitten. She has grown to be a wonderful and healthy companion. This shelter is always clean and the staff are always so welcoming and accommodating. I love how you can enter the kitten/cat rooms and play with all of them. It makes the process of selecting a kitten so much easier because we can really get a feel for their personality. They often have an adopt one get one free promotion which is nice if you're looking for two animals. This is also nice for bonded pairs of kittens. My wife and I wanted to adopt a kitten named 'Oliver' that had been shown in a photo listing of available kittens that were to be brought over from another facility. They had us fill out a whole bunch of papers. Then we were informed that something caused all their animals to be held because of some malady, resulting in quarantines for numerous pets, for somewheres around a week. So we waited patiently. Since we had not heard from them regarding the availability I decided to go to the WAGS facility. I did not go yesterday because of the July 4th fireworks affects on animals. Today, I drove to the facility to check on the status and hopefully claim the kitten (Oliver) only to first be brusquely told by a large woman at a desk they had no such named kitten. Made no sense. Then shortly later, as I was making my way to leave leaving the facility, the same woman tells me, again brusquely, that her prior info was incorrect, they did have the kitten Oliver, but, (in spite of all the paperwork we had done) they had allowed him to be adopted out. Never made any effort to contact us. Why have us fill out all that paperwork only to be blithely ignored while giving the kitten Oliver to someone else?? Up till that point I thought all their glowing praises for the facility were spot on, but this seems to be gross indifference to not even check in with us. read more

It took 40 minutes of me visiting with a puppy the only one there and they decided to do a lottery which went to a couple that showed up 10 minutes before They were to make a decision. I read a review, and when I went in I could remember a lady's name who was mentioned and I didn't think she was that bad... idk people have their opinions but I highly suggest WAGS Pet Adoption. They have private rooms for you to meet & greet any potential babe. I only have great things to say. If you're rescuing/ adopting you need to do the aftercare and realize you're most likely going to need to do some care for your new friend. Some fur babies need more care than others...they don't all come 100%!!! My babe is a cutie and is happy. She had a funky eye for a while but is fine now. Just get your pet a vet. Wouldn't recommend this place. Feel like I was given the runaround when trying to adopt. Wanted to see a certain kitten who I had met the previous day but was told he was sick WITH HIS SIBLING who I didn't know about and they were so willing to separate them. Wanted to visit with both and waited almost an hour because the rooms were full and then a couple who just walked in was given a room right away so we left. So then we went on petfinder to send inquiries and applications on multiple kittens and was told I need to make an appointment with the foster parents to adopt by text so I asked when they were available and received one response a day saying the same thing until every cat I wanted to meet was adopted IN PERSON or by the foster parent. Why did I have to make an appointment but someone was allowed to just walk in and adopt right away? I sent in so many applications and got no responses on any of them! We were able to adopt from another rescue who treated us with respect and we are happy we made that choice. There are many other options out there read more

I adopted my sweet baby kitty Finn (originally named Nero) from here and he had a medical history, which is fine, however they passed his cross eyes and major eye watering as "normal" and "nothing to worry about". 2 months later I learn he's had FIP (basically a mutated feline coronavirus) for A WHILE NOW and he unfortunately passed away. I'm extremely upset and heartbroken that my sweet boy has moved on and extremely angry at this place for giving me false information. I have a history with owning cats and made sure I asked the appropriate questions making sure he was okay and if I needed to get him checked out and they assured me my boy was 100% fine. I adopted a cat from here 3 weeks ago and took her to the vet because she was having issues peeing outside of the litterbox. Good thing I did bc she has fleas AND tapeworms even though she's an indoor cat. When adopting her I was under the impression that she was fully vaccinated but she did not even have a rabies vaccine (which i would think is very important). She definitely got fleas while here. Saw a dog available on petfinder, so I went to their site and scheduled a meet and greet visit. You have to fill out the adoption application prior to the appointment. Appointment slots were 30 min and we got to meet 2 dogs during our meeting. They were pretty organized to have each family meet their potential pet, we had our own room to meet the dog and see if it was a good fit. Due to Covid, they limited people inside building to meet the animals. I appreciated their efforts to still home these pets and keep everyone safe. The gentleman who was with us when we met Buddy, was really nice. He told us a lot of each dogs temperament that we were going to meet. He taught us a bit on how to train and get the dog comfortable with you. When we met the other dog in the room, that staff member just left us in there with the dog. We weren't really sure what to do since that pup was more timid and just tried hiding when in the room with strangers. We ended up finishing up our appointment in there. When our appointment ended, we were asked if we wanted to make another appointment to meet the remaining dog we couldn't meet or if we were interested in any of the ones we had met. We fell in love with the first pup so they reviewed our application and they sent us a text link to pay adoption fees. We went to petco on the other side of the plaza to purchase a collar and leash to bring him home. We got his medical records provided via email and were on our way. It's been a month with our fur baby and we couldn't be happier. The process was smooth and easy so we were very happy with our experience at wags. read more

I adopted sick kittens from here after noticing that they had ringworm I attempted to bring them back so i called them and Courtney told me it would go away on its own. That was a lie. I called again to try to bring these cats back because the ringworm was getting worse and now my kids had it on their face neck and arms and she told me to add athletes foot creme on them and it would go away on its own. That was a lie. After paying for vet bills and buying so much medication to treat these cats i wasn't seeing the results i wanted so i dropped off the cats and now they are mad because i brought them in and the tried to press charges on me for abuse and neglect! The audacity!! Of course the law was on my side and animal control saw clearly through their BS so they started a go fund me for the ringworm infested cats by lying and saying that they were abused. Maybe i should start a go fund me for the emotional distress they caused me and my family by refusing to take the cats back when i kept calling. read more

I found a kitten on line that I wanted to adopt. I made an appointment as the website says you must do, came in at my appointed time and asked to see the kitten. There were 3 staff members chatting at the front desk who ignored me when I walked in. I had to interrupt their private conversation to ask to see the kitten. One staff member pointed to another room and said, "She's in there". I entered the next room and was welcomed by a dozen CATS. I was looking for the kitten I chose on line. After 20 minutes I went back outside and asked again, to see the kitten. The same person laughed at me and said, " Yeah we need to change our website pictures. We only have adult cats". The staff is unprofessional, the website is archaic and I worry that none of the animals in residence are receiving the care they deserve due to the ignorance of the staff read more
