Think twice before booking this campground and make certain you know what you're getting into. We had a terrible experience! We would have liked to come back, and bring friends/family, but will NEVER give this campground another dime of our money, which is a shame because in the nearly 25 years we've been RVing, we've never experienced such horrible, uncaring and in my opinion, unethical customer service. Also, from what I can tell, a number of their positive quotes/reviews were from the previous owners, not the newer owners.
Background: A few days before our mid-week arrival, I called and spoke to one of their employees to inquire about a spot. I was VERY clear that we were booking this campground because my husband needed to work; he is not retired. The gal told me the spot she'd put us in "should be fine." After a long day driving, we arrived after hours, went to our spot, and my husband found he could not work, he was having issues with the wifi. OK, so went to our back up, he has a wifi card, still nothing. What they NEVER mentioned, was they are in what they later told us is a "dead zone." Cell phones barely work, if at all. The closest place she said for good phones and wifi was approx 10 miles away. (And he'd have to work from his car for 3 eight hour days!) So, not only could he not get on the wifi, but his card didn't work, NOR did our Verizon phones (well, we managed to get a text out and receive a few, but phone calls dropped if connected at all.) Hubby had tons of conference calls to be on! So, first thing the next morning I walked up to the office and spoke with the owner Kathy, and explained our situation and asked about a possible solution so we could stay (maybe there was a connection in the office? We didn't want to leave and had no where mapped out.) She said no, she was sorry but they had been hoping for years for fiber optic, but at this point their website said their wifi was "spotty." So, we had to leave. She never gave me a bill or mentioned she was charging me fo additional nights. I paid for the night we stayed, as well as we had a friend driving 5 hours to stay there for a night, 28 hours after our check out. Kathy would not refund her money, so I paid my friends campsite fee too since it wasn't her fault we had to leave before her arrival.
Later that day I looked at my CC and she billed us all the rest of our stay. WHAT?! So I kindly emailed her quite sure it was a mistake. She said no, their policy is no refunds after check in, and it was my paperwork when I checked in. (Mind you this is after hours and we didn't even know it would be an issue.) We sent several emails back and forth and she would refused to refund the 3 nights we were not there. Her exact words in email: "As I discussed with you this morning, we offer free wifi which is very limited and sometimes spotty. This is posted on our website and also on our sheet on the first paragraph that we give to each guest, if late check in, it would be in your envelope with your receipt. Unfortunately, we are in an area that we get what we get. Some days, service is good, others not. We do not in anyway guarantee service, we offer what we have for free. There is no refund for early departures during our peak season. We are running at 100% capacity and most likely turned down another guest so as to accommodate your family."
We went round and round. I even mentioned if they are at 100% capacity, why would she keep our money too? I only made the reservations a few days prior to arrival! I also never asked for a guarantee, but if their own employee says verbally "it should be fine" and never even MENTIONS that they have nearly zero phone service after making it clear my hubby had to work, that is my issue?? What?
Could cut and paste more, but suffice it to say, we were very discouraged that this is how they choose to resolve the issue - no refund, and we paid in all for 4 campsite nights that we could not use. There was not even an offer to come back some time and get a credit when my husband was not working and phones and wifi didn't matter. Good luck to you if you still choose to stay here. read more
