This place was overpriced! Pictures on line look good but room was poorly remodeled. The shower was filthy, so much so that I didn't use the shower. The floor in the bathroom was caved in and it was covered with a rug. There was a half inch gap under the door. I had to lay a towel to cover the gap. No telling what kind of critters and bugs come in. read more

I don't leave reviews but I feel people should be for warned!! Room was nasty! Our socks turned black from walking around in the room! Shower had hair all over in it and spider were everywhere! If you want a clean room do not stay here! One other little bit of information, the smell of sewage coming from the grass behind our room was horrible!!! Every time a toilet flushed there was a small bubbling sewage hole that would spew the remains on the grass in the back! Disgusting!!! read more

I would give this NO stars, but it won't let me. Don't stay here. Going through a remodel and it could not be worse and UNSAFE. Rooms are not ready and could not be worse. No soap, no toilet paper on a roll ( in window sill ) no Kleenex, dirty floors and mirrors, no hand rails on steps, screws and nails in parking spots and the doors do not lock from the inside unless you choose to align the door with strength to make it close. Awesome Price for an interesting hidden little treasure of a motel. Often when we travel, we pick a direction and just go. In November, last year, we decided to head to the "Trigger" of Idaho for my birthday, Salmon. After accessing all the motels, we read about animal themed rooms and we chose the Sacajawea Inn. The owners are incredibly nice, welcoming and accommodating. Pet fee was super low which was great. Awooooooooooooooooooo! We of course chose the "Wolf Room". I think it's great that they had a local artist paint the rooms.. it was a real breath of fresh air from some of the places we have stayed in, unique and creative. And the three dollar hot breakfast?? Where else do you stay where they cook a home cooked breakfast for you? We actually ended up staying two nights, and on our second day in Salmon, they gave us a map to Gold Bug hot springs, one of the best I have ever been too and rated top 5 in Idaho. (so don't forget to ask about that.) It only takes a few minutes to walk to the middle of town if you wish to go out for dinner and drinks, we found that every where we went in Salmon, people were super friendly. So if you are looking for something a little different than your usual hum drum motel stay, take a walk on the wild side and choose this one, you will be treated great! read more

This is our second stay in 5 years. The place is under new ownership, but nothing has changed. The rooms are clean, and each one is decorated in a different woodland creature theme. The owners are super friendly, and they cook breakfast for the guests every morning. Prices are very low for the value received. read more

The rough diamond John S mentioned 6 months ago is getting pretty polished! We stayed here on a motorcycle trip, and loved it. Clean, nice, very friendly and helpful - plus unbelievably cheap. Possibly best hotel VALUE I've ever seen. Also, don't let anyone tell you it's not walking distance to stores and dining - cut between the two hotel buildings and past the Mormon church to main street. Breakfast was great for 3 bucks, plus if you want they will make a fire in the outdoor pit in the evening. Loved it. read more

We traveled to Salmon for the funeral of my Grandfather. It was a tough time and our family has reached a point that we have outgrown staying at the farm as we had always done as kids. Booking accommodations in little Salmon was something I was not looking forward to but was pleased to find the Sacajawea Inn. The price was fantastic and the owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They checked in on us as we were getting breakfast which they cooked for us for only $3 a person, they checked in on us as we were headed out to the funeral and again when we were packing to leave. They were so friendly and we loved talking to them. It really felt like just another part of our family and I was incredibly grateful to be made to feel at home during such a hard time. The rooms were spacious, recently updated and comfortable but still fun with murals of animals and forest scenes. My favorite part was the very comfortable king sized bed. With two kids with colds wanting to cuddle up to mom and dad in the middle of the night the size and comfort of the bed paid off. We were so happy with this little home away from home that several of our other family members checked in as well. I am glad we chose this place and plan on crashing here the next time the whole family comes together in Idaho again which I hope is very soon. read more

Clean, comfortable bed, and three dollar breakfast! The breakfast is eggs to order, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, choice of meat- sausage, bacon, or ham. The Sacajawea and gets five stars just because it's such bank for your buck. Or should I say bang for your antelope, because we stayed in the Antelope Room. Yeah, there was totally an antelope murral and an antelope shoulder mount in the room. Pretty sweet. read more

We stay here every year for a hockey tournament. The main attraction is the ownership, you couldn't find nicer people. The rooms are clean and each room has its own animal theme which is fun. There is a large fire pit in the courtyard which in the winter is great. The breakfast is amazing at any price but only costs you $3 read more

Firstly, I have to say something about a hotels.com review posted recently, because it blew me away, and I don't want others to see it on that site and not choose this place as a result, because I know most folks check both Yelp and Hotels before booking. Someone complained about the furniture needing to be updated and an "old duck" hanging on the wall that had "seen better days." I'm amazed that some people just don't get it. This hotel is supposed to be down-home and unique, not anything like the brand-new cookie-cutter crap you'll find at a Holiday Inn. And for such an incredibly LOW price, what do you expect? The furniture from the Ritz? The decor in this hotel is the work of the owners, and they do it to put a smile on patron's faces. If you didn't smile, but rather have silly complaints, you belong at those cookie-cutter hotels with absolutely no character whatsoever. You certainly don't belong here. End Rant. Now, I have traveled a lot. Like a LOT. All over the country and overseas, so I have stayed in countless hotels. This one will always stay with me for many reasons. 1) Friendly staff, even their little dogs are friendly and welcoming. 2) Comfortable bed...on this 2,000 mile road trip, it was the most comfortable bed we had on the entire trip, no other hotel room bed came close, and we stayed at some fancy places! 3) Decor of room. We had the Wolf Room and it was adorable and comfy. A local artist did the wall paintings...awesome! 4) Price. Holy inexpensive, batman! For what you get, it's almost highway robbery. 5) The breakfast. Made by the owners with love, fresh and plentiful. It's only $3 (we left $5 per person because they deserve it) and comes with several perfectly-cooked eggs, your choice of meat, toast and the best home fries ever. Cereal for the kids, too! Also included is probably the best coffee I've tasted in the whole state, juice, water or milk. And the little log cabin in which breakfast is served made it even better. We sat in the back by the little fireplace. LOVED it. We loved the entire experience. My wife said the tub was so clean, she was willing to take a bath in it. That never happens in hotel rooms, so major kudos to the cleaning staff, too. read more

We stayed in the Deer Room. Lots of deer memorabilia, warm and comfortable. The $3 breakfast is a winner. It is possible that they serve the best cup of coffee in Idaho. We were traveling by motorcycle and got caught in inclement weather. The owner said, No Problem, we could extend out reservation or whatever we need. It is great to find a motel that treats you like PEOPLE not a number. read more

Driving from the south up to Montana, we like to make a stop in the quaint village of Salmon, ID. Hugging the Salmon River, it's a tidy little town with an upbeat vibe, with nice shops, restaurants & parks. The Sacajawea Inn is adorable & affordable - a small, slightly updated, classic 1 story motor inn motel. The rooms, although not many, congregate around an inviting grassy island/firepit & are tucked in by a sunny 'backyard' lawn. Our room this time was a little studio, with a small kitchenette. The bed & pillows were comfy. The screen door was a homey touch that my dog really appreciated... letting him peek into the goings on outside. The pet-friendly policy is the way we found the inn. I am SO very grateful to PET-FRIENDLY hotels!! I think of the Sacajawea Inn like a free-spirited happy cousin of her corporate relatives; barefoot, flowers in her hair, easy going. Her generous personality manifests in stunning nature wall murals in each room, done by a Native American artist. If you have time, indulge in the lovely breakfast, only $4 per person. Happily cooked eggs how you like them, coffee/tea, a choice of toasts & meats. The dining room 'cabin' is hard to leave - lots of fun decor to take in. We like to walk it off at Sacajawea Park down the road - a gorgeous Native American ramble along the river. read more

If I could rate this place a zero I would. We have stayed here a couple times in the past on our way to MT. It has always been clean and well accommodated. I don't know what happened but this time it was absolutely filthy. The toilet was still dirty behind the seat and there were disgusting splatters under the seat. The bathroom had a general smell of urine and the floor was sticky around the toilet. There were no plastic cups, no tissue and only two towels for the three of us. The topper was when my son went to get in his bed we found that the sheets had not been changed from the previous guest. This was evident by all the dead skin flakes and body hair in the sheets. By now my gag reflex was in hyperdrive. We tried to contact the manager and had no success. We called the front desk, no answer. It was like a ghost town. We had to tough out the night with the disgusting conditions since there were few hotels available during the coronavirus shut down. To make matters worse, none of the windows would open. So overnight it got pretty stuffy and hot, no AC unit either. The urine smell was over the top. Come morning we continued to try to contact management but still no one could be found. It's too bad we had to have such a bad experience. This is actually a really quaint little hotel that we have enjoyed in the past. read more

There is two rooms per unit with outside doors. Perfect for our year old german Shepard dog. Mostly for our piece of mind that we wouldn't be disturbing the neighbors if he acted up. The owners ran the desk as well as cooked breakfast the next day. Very nice people and cooked a very good breakfast as well. Your not buying a modern fancy hotel room,but you are buying a good king size bed ,refrigerator and microwave. A little off topic but the Savage restaurant next door serves excellent food and the half pound cheeseburger I had just about defeated me,you better be REAL hungry! read more

Loved everything about this place. Just wish we had stayed a few days instead of just overnight. The owner was super nice, very helpful. So much nicer than the previous nights experience at a big chain hotel. The room was very clean and comfy with lots of nice personal touches. So much better than the fancy high priced hotel chains. This place has a good heart and soul. You can feel it everywhere. The office when you check in, the beautiful dining room that has such a warm inviting atmosphere, the comfy cabin with it's mural. Each cabin had a different theme. Ours was a mountain lion! The fire pit and horse shoe pit next to the BBQ area was a nice touch too. And just across the street was a very pretty park, pond and picnic area. The breakfast was perfect and unbeatable value at just $3. Just as all the reviews said it would be. And best of all we were offered a cloth to clean our bikes. Great place to stay. Oh and their cat was the nicest welcoming committee yet! If you stayed here more than 4 years ago you may have been disappointed and reluctant to return but Barbara and Walter have done a great job sprucing the place up. So come on back and give it another try. Any complaints? Nothing except possibly the wifi. But hey we are on vacation and out in God's Country so who needs the Internet? If you need it THAT bad then stay home. BTW - They use the honor system to pay for breakfast. Breakfast is paid for by putting your money in a jar on the dining room counter. I completely missed this and thought it was on the bill. When I checked my receipt later I was shocked to discover I had not been charged for two breakfasts. I called to apologize and to give my credit card details but Barbera surprisingly declined my offer to pay. THAT would never have happened at the last hotel! Nice people or what? We need more Sacajawea Inns in this world! read more

First time staying here and was pleasantly surprised. The people were friendly and the rooms were comfy.

Clean, yeah ok. Good breakfast.. yes, very yummy. Not fond of the moldy type smell coming from the bathroom sink, nor the gnats that arrive out of that same vent and sit all over the sink. They get in your hair, nose...whatever is available. And then there's the issue of the TV. There are 2 beds in the room, but only one can see the TV. Will not stay there again. read more
