I am happy to trust a place that removes dogs that are not suitable. It clearly shows they care more about the dogs than they do the money! Why anyone would think that it was inappropriate for a staff member to make calls is craziness. Ellie is in demand and a very very busy lady. No one works harder than her to advocate for what is best for dogs. I prefer to take my dog to the place that expects dogs to be safe and social. That is honest in telling people if their dog doesn't fit in or enjoy it. I have been to other places. As veterinarians and humane society staff have referred me there, I am glad they did. And if Ellie ever kicks my dog out, I know that she is being honest and not crating my dog and lying to me while taking money like some other places do. Oh and if my dogs ever damaged something, I would expect to have to pay for it. read more

I am so very disappointed in this company. If I were a business owner, and a customer made explicit requests via email and phone to discuss a matter, I would definitely address their concerns rather than ignore them. I gave Ellie the benefit of the doubt that she would call me back to discuss this, but alas, this was not the case. I feel that other customers might benefit from reading the letter I wrote to her that was ignored in order to gain an appreciation of her indifference to the valid concerns of others. Here is the letter: To Ellie at Wag and Train, My 5 month old Goldie has been expelled from doggie daycare after his first visit and I have some serious concerns about how this was handled. To be clear, this is not necessarily a complaint about your aggression policies. I realize they are necessary to ensure the safety of staff and other dogs. Mortimer has completed Kinder Puppy and had his first day of daycare on Tuesday June 25th. I picked him up at around 6:20 just prior to our last puppy class. I spoke with Camryn (who has always been very helpful) and asked her if she knew how the day went since it was his first day. She advised that there had been no mention of any problems but that someone would call to follow up with me the following day as that is what they do after a dog's first day. The following day, Wednesday, Mortimer did not attend daycare. I rec'd a phone call from Alicia at about 1:45 and she left me a message to say she wanted me to call her back before 2:30. (I did not call back b/c I couldn't get to the phone until after 3:30). She DID NOT indicate in her message that there had been an issue the day before. I assumed she was calling to give me a standard update because Camryn advised me the day before that this was what would happen. Yesterday morning my husband dropped off Mortimer. The handler who took him in today was not aware of any issues. This is now the second staff member handling dogs who had not been filled in on Mortimer's "aggression". From my perspective, this absence of communication amongst staff indicates that the aggression was not serious enough to warrant letting all staff know about the problem. My husband was on his way to Toronto when he rec'd a call from Alicia telling him that Mortimer had been expelled from the program because of what happened on Tuesday. He was rudely told that Mortimer would be crated yesterday (a consequence imposed for something a dog had done 2 days prior?! As a dog person, does that make sense to you?) and that he was not to return. When I called for further information, Alicia's tone was accusatory ("I told you to call me back yesterday and you didn't"). I replied that she had called at 1:45 and told me that she was leaving for the day at 2:30. I teach and could not call back during her 45 minute window. She was also very defensive. She advised Mortimer's behaviour was completely unacceptable and reported that he was very aggressive and that the staff needed to use brooms to approach him!!! This is not my dog at all, and even if it was, this certainly can't be the first time that food aggression has occurred at your facility. I was made to feel as though he was a dangerous risk to others. (Please remember that this is a 5 month old Goldie puppy!) When I asked why the pup was being offered food in the first place (b/c he eat morning and night), she replied that the staff member dropped the food and that Mortimer aggressively attacked the container. Again, this is uncharacteristic of him, although I concede that nothing is impossible. She also said that he was given several chances to correct his behaviour and that his consequence was a last resort. This is difficult for me to understand because if the original problem was initiated because a staff member dropped food around him, resulting in him acting aggressively, wouldn't that staff member have the sense to NOT drop food around him FOUR TIMES?!! This could be perceived as your staff trying to provoke my dog which I find to be beyond un-acceptable, completely un-professional and inhumane. Not at all what I would have expected when I enrolled my puppy for training and daycare at an established facility as yours was advertised to be. Please note that your son Aaron has been working one on one with Mortimer about some food aggression issues that we have caught onto at home. When Aaron assessed him at our home a week or so ago, he reported that Mortimer is NOT an aggressive do and that he is a lovely boy. We have had 2 private sessions with Aaron and he feels very confident that we can correct this problem since we have been very pro-active. It makes me feel better knowing that he, a professional dog trainer, did not advise me that Mortimer should be separated from dogs based on his observations. I would very much like to discuss this matter further and to understand the rationale for the decision and lack of communication. read more

We took advantage of the daycare services included in the puppy and obedience classes and my puppers cannot be more excited to get in the car every day in the hope that he is heading to daycare. He is tired at the end of each day there and whines with excitement when we pull in the driveway. Two paws up! read more

It is simply the best. They provided a clear orientation and tour that I found quite informative. Clearly they care about the dogs and I am confident my dog is in the best place when I am away at work. I wouldn't want to be taking my dog somewhere that allows aggressive dogs. This is by far the most professional and trustworthy place I have found. After trying others, I am so happy to find Ellie. She is honest and in no way will take your money and mislead you. One of my dogs is a good candidate for daycare but my second dog is not. I'm sure she could've lied and taken my money but she didn't and I appreciate it now more than ever. At first I was offended and so I took my dog to another place. They told me each time that my dog was having fun and so I thought badly of Ellie's comments. That was until I got a call from the other place telling to come get me Dog Asap. My dog had been in a fight and I was yelled at because I'm told my dog caused it. This was not recent but I've decided to write because I've since met a former employee there that told me my dog was locked in a crate all the time because she was trouble. She managed to get out of the crate and attacked another dog. I was lied to by this other daycare and they had no trouble taking my credit card. I've come to appreciate how honest Ellie was at Waggin Train and I regret going against her advice. I take my older dog to Waggin Train and leave my other dog at home for the dog walker. All is good now. I 100% trust Ellie and would highly recommend her services. Her experience and commitment shine through. read more

I was a long time wag n train customer and advocate. Gave thousands of dollars to this company and was more than happy to do so. Even went as far as promoting Wag n Train to my friends and family. I travel a lot for work, so for almost 5 years my dog visited wag n train once a week for daycare or overnight boarding. Then, a staff member called me one day and told me that my dog had experienced some anxiety during an overnight stay and did some damage to the dog run. As a result, I was informed that my dog was no longer welcome back at Wag n Train for daycare or for overnight boarding. There was no reason they could provide me with on why my dog had anxiety this one time, but the hundreds of other times he was fine. When I asked if he could still attend Daycare I was informed I would need to contact the owner as she originally made the decision. As well, only the owner could provide me with a refund for the 5 day package I had already pre-purchased. The staff member who called me to deliver this news could tell that I was upset, and she tried to make it better, but she really couldn't give me any information. It all needed to be handled by the owner, yet the uncomfortable phone call was delegated to the staff member. Lucky girl. I ended up emailing the owner, and long story short she was very defensive, made excuses for why things happened the way they did, didn't stand behind her staff at all - in fact she said it was the staff who made the decision not her - and overall she was very passive aggressive. In the end it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I would no longer recommend this company to anyone...ever. If this is how loyal customers are treated I can only imagine how things are handled for newcomers. I'm not normally the type to post a review like this but I had such a bad experience that I felt I needed to. It's a shame really because I loved the staff at Wag n Train, my dog did too. The owner however could learn a lesson or two from her staff when it comes to customer service. She won't be getting my business anymore. read more
