Well, the wonderful endodontist, Dr Robert Averbach, could not save my cracked molar. So off I went…read moreto Denver Metro OMS for an extraction. YIKES!! First contact with their office I called to make an appointment. The receptionist asked me when I saw the endodontist, I told her 2 weeks ago and she said, "Well you should have called 2 weeks ago, we are very busy now." (OK...I've been scolded, now can I get an appointment?) After all that she set me up for 3 days later. Second contact in person was much better. Dr Cosby led me into his office and we had a consultation, of sorts. I asked what he planned to do about my double crown, which bridged 2 teeth, one good one bad. Having never heard of such a crown he took a peek and confirmed I was "right". Duh. [BTW, this unheard of, never before seen, troublesome bridge-crown was the lame ass work of Dr Jefferey Revoir-avoid this creep at all costs] Anywho, this crown had to be sliced in two by my general dentist first, then I would have to come back for the extraction. Uuuggghhhh. OK, 2 weeks later I am in the chair, breathing in some cherry coconut scented nitrous oxide. (Yuk, I am so damn sick of scented soap and chapstick and paper towels and napkins and...just STOP IT!!) Ok I'm calm now, anyway I was having a nice conversation with the assistant, Heidi, when Dr Cosby came in and jammed the needle in my lower gum and roof of my mouth. I tolerate pain so well every dentist comments on it. But this guy shoved that needle so hard I actually lifted my ass 6 inches off the chair!! And commented: "Wow, you really shove that in there don't you?!" His reply? "That's not the worst place to get a shot" Wow. A few taps, twists and pulls later the tooth was out. He told me if I wanted an implant I would have to wait 4 months and left. Alright honestly, procedure was quick and painless (after the shot) and my recovery has been smooth. Dr Cosby was nice and friendly and generally OK, but I prefer a doctor who listens better, doesn't talk down to me and has a more gentle, compassionate touch. Their website listed some personal things about him and I almost didn't go when I found out he was a hunter. How compassionate can you be when you kill innocent animals for no good reason? You can't, so while I would probably recommend Dr Cosby to a male, I would not take a kid there or recommend him to a womon.

Well, I have to say my experience with Dr. Cosby and his staff was FANTASTIC! JDJ's review really…read morehad me in-doubt and put me unnecessarily on-edge about my visit. I know, you're thinking that I'm a friend of Dr. Cosby, or affiliated somehow, and that I am writing this with a bias, but I am not affiliated in any other way than as a patient. I had never met Dr. Cosby prior to being referred to him for a molar extraction. So here's the deal: He was incredible and so was his staff! I just want to set the record straight, as JDJ's review is not what I experienced at all. First, if you are afraid of dentists or dental work, this is your guy! He was incredibly understanding, patient, very, very accomodating, kind and gentle, and went out of his way to make my experience an excellent one. I am phobic about all medical work, especially dentists, and Dr. Cosby and his staff accomodated that, took extra time, care and efforts with me that were absolutely First Class! They let me pre-visit the operating room a couple of days before, were so nice to me, and reassuring. It was a caring, great experience, folks. As good as you will find (I am a professional, btw, a Ph.D., and appreciate a finely-educated doctor. He's an MD and a DDS from a top school). My suggestion, if you are anxious, or have panic issues, talk with Dr. Cosby and be frank and open. He'll really understand and help you through it. I was unaware that this caliber of professional was available in Denver. (I had considered going out-of-town to have this work done, to be honest). Don't look any farther-- you have him right here in Denver.
