I…read morehappened to be in Plano over the weekend for a conference so since I came this far, I hopped on a bus and scheduled myself for less than 24 hours in Waco! I didn't realize that the #Magnolia properties are closed on Sunday, so I found other fun ways to get the Waco hospitality from the moment I arrived. I was actually glad that I got to see the town for what it is a few days before people traveled there from all over for #Silobration. I look forward to returning to Waco for a longer visit! I booked this tour through the Viator website and the tour group was really responsive from the beginning. I was actually concerned that my bus arriving to town might cause the tour to be delayed if they waited for me, but they were so kind with accommodating my schedule. It all worked out as it should timewise. I really enjoyed learning about Waco from Shannon and Don's perspective. First of all they are super friendly and welcoming and make you feel like neighbors! They shared stories of individuals from this small town who had done great things. They talked about big natural disasters that the town overcame! They showed us the natural beauty of the area around the zoo, and the rivers around town. I loved the college town feel too that made me long to go back to those college days. I also got to see several of my favorite fixer upper homes as we drove through town - many of which are now airbnbs! I don't want to spoil all that they shared, but I highly recommend their tour and will definitely return to do their river sunset tour. I also really appreciated that since they knew I was on foot and trying to get to the Dr Pepper Museum before they closed in less than an hour, they offered to drop me off there, which is not the normal ending point for the tour.

My friend and I drove around on our own and passed many of the points of interest that are on the tour. However, without being in Brad and Don's company, we would have never known about the history of the city... or been there for their dad jokes (ha,ha!). The reason I didn't give it a full five stars is because it's mainly a driving tour. It's hard to hear the commentary from the back of the bus; and, we only stopped twice: once to see Common Grounds and get a drink, and the second to stop in a park to see a view. It was quite chilly in their Sprinter; and I would have preferred to have more places to explore from outside the vehicle.

We have learned that taking the VIP bus is more our speed. We can have a drink on the bus and the group is usually pretty cool. They are so organized. We arrive at the pickup spot, check in, have a drink and it's all done seamlessly. Hannah was a great bus host. She's spot on keeping us informed where we are and what to do when we arrive. She goes over rules and policies related to being on the river and trespassing rules. They always do a great job and I'll be doing it again next year.

A friend tipped me off that this tour company was offering adults-only boozy brunch cruises around…read moreChristmas time featuring Buddy the Elf, and with relatives about to barrel through the door at any moment and invade our house for several weeks, that sounded like my cup of te-quila. It was even better than I imagined. I'm no huge "Elf" fan, but after several Palomas, Buddy's schtick was about the funniest thing I had ever seen. I also looooooooooved the dancing up on deck. We lucked out and had a lovely Austin afternoon on the water. The music was a solid mix of 90s throwback dance tunes, and the whole atmosphere was silly and lighthearted and happy. The food was very good, too -- pizza from Via 313, bfast tacos and a candy buffet. We ended our cruise with a special surprise from Buddy -- Santa had gifted us all with jewelry from Kendra Scott! I don't know how often that happens, but I love random surprises. And the retail price of those gifts was more than what we paid for our brunch experience. Score! What a memorable day! I can't wait for the next one.

We stopped in on 3 different wineries and Kim had made superb choices in each spot; from the wines to the view to the suggestions on what to try and how to make the most of our samples so everyone could try as many as possible (thanks for that tip, Kim!). I even joined a wine club, the tastings were informative and she is just a lot of fun and I didn't have to worry about driving or directions and could enjoy the pours and some snacks. Both rooms are nice. We booked Antoinette, but because of a temperature control glich, we were moved. Mrs Jean is the Inn Keeper. She's great! She and the staff provide an amazing breakfast spread. Muffins, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, juice. Today's hot dish was a bacon egg quiche with sundried tomato puree. Mimosas with MH sparkling are included, as well. Your stay includes a hosted tour of the property and a wine and cheese from the Wine Bar. This was our third stay. We will do this again.

The animals are so well taken care of and loved. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, and we are so glad to have stayed there. We also loved Dundee (their baby kangaroo.)

The place was clean and just the right size for my wife and I. Being city folks you forget how dark it is out in the country at nights. It was nice. We signed up for these adventures to make the weekend even more fun: 1. Feed baby kangaroo(Bodhi). This was about a 30 minute session where we got to feed him a bottle and kibble. It really was an amazing experience. 2. Bucket of food and self guided feeding of animals. We walked the property and hid to feed so many animals. All of the animals were friendly toward people. They were all very good motivated. We encountered a giraffe, donkeys, zebras, horses, cows, pigs, dwarf steers, camels, emu, deer, buffalo and more. The animals were often trying to bully their way to the front of the line. The cow Oreo who has not skipped a meal was always front of the line. 3. Afternoon safari ride in ATV. This was a fun ride around the property. Did not see any new animals but had a great time. The cows out at pasture were thrilled to be fed. 4. Giraffe encounter and meal. This was a little expensive but I would spend it again. The giraffes were super friendly and personable. We wanted to take them home because they were so much fun. The guide, experience and never felt rushed made this worth it. Our guide was top notch. I think her name was Jackie but could be wrong.
