Sushi Sano is a great spot not that far from the Marienplatz area. Great selection of rolls and dishes. I had an assortment of rolls and sushi as well as some dishes such as gyoza and kimchi. Great place! Only complaint (not really a complaint) I would add is that the sushi rice there was just OK. Not as good as the kind in sushi spots back home in Los Angeles.

All in all this place lived up to the hype and my lil bro now has a sushi place he can call home in Munich . The Tantanmen was just equally lacking flavor. It literally tasted like water, the spinach was just some deep frozen stuff, the minced beef didn't taste like beef at all. My starter of eggplant in miso sauce was delicious and I loved it. I was hoping for great things after this dish. There were quite a few Japanese people eating here and that set the expectation even higher. My sashimi arrived last after the other two people on my table had finished eating and looked fabulous. The squid and prawn was excellent but the salmon and tuna was not so good. Over all the sashimi was a 3 star for me. The tuna was not melt in your mouth kind, neither was the salmon. The dessert was similarly mixed. We ordered two desserts however, he ended up bringing us four, and I am not sure why. He charged us for four as well. The redbean ball was delicious and I loved it. The green tea ice cream and the balls were both somewhat disappointing. I will definitely come back here and try the various bits of the menu. It's a good choice in the area. I would still prefer other places for Sashimi. I can't wait till they have zarusoba, a cold noodle dish and, one of my favourite summer time Japanese dishes.

Only 3 stars because the location could be more modern (restaurant exists since 25 years and it's still the same style) and we missed the people. For lunch there are two alternatives for 12 € and a few more for 15 €. The 12 € alternatives are the better deal, as they include a lot of extras, making it a really complete meal, but the udon with Spanish pork that I had for 15 € was really delicious. For the evening visit we had the pleasure of trying a very good sake from their wide selection. The dinner dishes were nothing short of great (I had black cod), and a really nice touch was that when they didn't have the high-end Japanese whisky that I ordered, they offered up the second-best whisky for free. That's classy. They don't have sushi on the main menu, so if that is what you're craving this may not be the right place for the day, but if you want some other really good Japanese food, this is an excellent alternative in downtown Munich. It was about 10-15 minutes walk from the Mariensplatz station. If we weren't walking fast for our dinner reservation, I would have took time for photo shooting as walk here was nice. They have staff speaks Japanese. Very authentic food here and Japanese people there at my table agreed how good the food was. They have sake and Japanese beer here. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the food. Highly unlikely of me as a Yelper, but I assure you the food presentation was nice too. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese food in Munich, I highly recommend trying here. Be sure to make a reservation as they are busy on weekday night too.
