Loved this Sushi place in Munich that I found on yelp.com. After a long week of eating lots of Bavarian food, I was craving some sushi. Sushi Sano is a great spot not that far from the Marienplatz area. Great selection of rolls and dishes. I had an assortment of rolls and sushi as well as some dishes such as gyoza and kimchi. Great place! Only complaint (not really a complaint) I would add is that the sushi rice there was just OK. Not as good as the kind in sushi spots back home in Los Angeles. read more

Bruhs........... Tell me tell you about this place! Ever since my lil bro moved to Germany he had told me that he hadn't had awesome sushi like in the States. So it was my mission to find some killer sushi in Munich while I visited him in August. Let me tell yah, this place right here... is a work of art! Right from the gecko the moment you walk in, you feel the noise and ambiance of the place. You look at the decor and sitting and you know you're in for a treat. So me and him got down to business, we order a bunch of nigiri and some udon because it was a chilly day in Munich and we need the warm brothy soup they had. The Sake (lachs, salmon) was top notch and the Hamachi (yellowtail) was okay. I tried their Anago which was good and same with the Unagi. All in all this place lived up to the hype and my lil bro now has a sushi place he can call home in Munich . I know for sure I'll be back and the sushi chefs better have a whole salmon for us because they didn't think me and my lil bro could have taken down 30 pcs of salmon in one sitting. read more

In search for some sushi in central Munich, google made me aware of Sano Sushi. I went here slightly past lunch time so it was moderately busy. This is my first time here in this establishment and the first thing that stands out is their method of ordering. You need to use a strip of paper and mark how many and which sushi you want. The prices are aimed at smaller portions with a small selection of special sushi. I found the Ebi Spicy Roll sushi to be quite overpriced at 6,50€ for only 4 pieces. I thought I would get 6 rolls for that price but only 4 was quite a negative surprise. The lack of information regarding special sushi roll amount on the Menu should be improved. Another issue I had with their spicy Salmon special menu was multiple bones found in the sushi, which presented an uncomfortable eating experience. The flavor was the sushi was alright, the spicy Ebi did taste good as did the California roll. The price range of those two were more clear, with images showing how many you'd get for the price. The fried core was warm and the spicy mayo nicely mingled with the whole roll without an excess amount of sauce being given. I found the pickled Oshinkomaki to taste wrong when I had it, with a stronger fermented flavor than I am used to. Service was extremely fast, even though it was around noon and the place was full. It would've been rated higher, but the bones in the salmon roll, unexpected flavor of some maki, and the high price and lack of information on the special rolls knocked the rating down. read more

Why my wife and I went there? Do not know. But it was worst mistake durong our trips. First impression when I went into this place was "oh shit!" Cause i saw the sushi roll machine on the sushi bar. But we had no other places to go, so decided to try there. The quality was far worst then We ever tried the last bad sushi. My wide ordered a bowl of udon...it was NOT a Japanese udon. No words to describe it. Udon has no soup... The sushi was terrible! We both of us got so sick kn that night! Rice is not sushi rice, nor the way they make the rolls. They put sesame seeds every where... they think it looks cool? Price is Not cheap... I don't know what these guys are thinking. I think the chefs in the kitchen are not Japanese. Maybe Chinese..all foods are like Chinese foods. Do NOT recommend this place! read more

What a great find! So glad I stumbled over this little quaint restaurant after I arrived in Munich. It was about 1700 and the place was already packed. Glad I could grab a spot at the bar. It was new to me to fill out the slip of paper to order, so I accidentally ordered way too much. It said "1€=3 pieces of sushi", I wrote down 3, because I thought you had to order them one by one, so I actually got 9 pieces. Should've know they wouldn't sell one individual piece of sushi for 0.33 cents! Didn't regret it though since I managed to stuff my face with all that sushi and it was delicious! The fish tasted fresh and the rice was nice and sticky, not clumpy! Presentation was very nice. The Kirin beer was pretty tasty too. Didn't wait to long on my order either, for the amount of sushi I ordered, they were very quick. It was also pretty nice that you could see them make the sushi fresh behind the bar. (with gloves on!) I will definitely stop by again and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy very high quality sushi on a budget! read more

Was back at Sushi Sano again last night to satisfy our craving for fish. We were there pretty early but the place is packed as usual, but we did get a table right away. Tried the sashimi plate along with some hand rolls as well as the usual sushi. The sashimi plate was pretty small actually but it was tasty and for 10€ it's not to expensive. The hand rolls were also tasty but it was drenched in sesame..it was actually pretty good but looked a lil weird at first. Don't let the one € sign fool you, all the cheap sushi items add up-we ends up spending over 50€ for the two of us. But it was pretty fresh fish as usual and the atmosphere is cozy, that's why it's one of our fav. sushi spots in the city. read more

Great little Sushi place towards the older side of town. It's always nice walking down an empty street - and then finding a restaurant packed with people - lots of locals. All the sushi was VERY FRESH and ordered by the individual piece - varying between 1-2 Euros. All the maki rolls were delish - but the stars were the nigiri. The favorite of the night and the "must try" was the the Red Snapper Nigiri. The salmon was pretty good too - sadly the Hamachi (Yellow Tail) was not so great. We tried this place based on high ratings on Yelp but we're hugely disappointed. The sushi was really not that great at all. We ordered a spicy salmon maki which Honestly did not even look like salmon maki ( they put a sweet bbq sauce on it instead of the regular spicy mayo sauce) nor did it taste like it. We also ordered tuna and salmon hand rolls which were pretty much filled with rice and Lil pieces of fish. I will not recommend this place to anyone. There was no air conditioning and the place was quite humid inside due to hot weather. read more

Definitely skippable if you like sushi at all. I ordered a bowl of ramen and maybe 10-15 pieces of sushi with two beers to share with my husband. I feel like it definitely wasn't super pricey, but for the quality of the food and my pickiness with sushi, it wasn't worth the 45 or so euro we spent. And trust me--I LOVE cheap/hole in the wall sushi joints. The miso ramen was also somewhat bland and the pork belly was chewy beyond belief. I'm actually pretty surprised this place is so highly rated. Maybe I am just a horrible sushi snob... Anyway, we definitely were kicking ourselves in the rear for even getting sushi to begin with in Munich, so please keep this in mind. Munich has excellent food, but this is not something you should waste your time and euros on. In a nutshell, unless you're really, really craving sushi, this place will likely not hit the spot for you. read more

It's not a coincidence that I've been here twice in the last few weeks - I think this place is great! It's small, with small portions and small prices. Therefore perfect when you feel like sampling many things! There are all the staples to choose from and so far I've enjoyed everything I've tried! My first time I had a noodle soup (which really wasn't so small) and that was delicious. This time we had some sushi to start and then some pot stickers and edamame and a soup to share. Service was fast, place is cosy and food is good. Whenever I'm in the mood for Japanese around Sendlinger Tor or Stachus, this will for sure be the place I go. read more

This place is not very good. We came for lunch. The ramen was a mess, low quality noodles overcooked, the eggs dry and overcooked, the broth had no flavor of the pork or the veggies of the soup, meanwhile fatty. The lunch special noodle dish consited of overcooked noodles flavored with ketchup, curry and ginger with corn, some meat bits of unidentifiable nature and cabbage. Nothing special. Small, simple and basic. Very low selection of items and sushi. Lots of pre-made sushi items can be seen at the "sushi bar". Wouldn't go with a party bigger than 4. The workers did speak good English, which is a plus. read more

The sushi was nice and fresh. Te wait staff was very friendly and caring to us. When we arrived the restaurant was overflowing. There were people ordering take out and every seat was occupied. We waited for 5 minutes and the restaurant began to open up. We were seated and had the chance to eat here. We ordered the lunch menu and a drink and walked away with a full meal for 10€. A truly great place, great atmosphere, and great food. I recommend eating here for lunch. read more

The food came very quick and was delicious. Tink they use fresh fish and good rice. Appart from sushi they also have other good dishes. The price is ok. If you're lucky you don't have to wait but it was quiet full. read more

This sushi place had great reviews but was a bit disappointing. There were no large rolls like at many other sushi places so we ended up getting a combination of smaller rolls and sashimi. The food was okay. The place itself was hot and stuffy so we didn't stay for another drink. read more

Very good place. But beware of the weekends. The store is very small and packed so it will be very hard getting a seat and it will take a long time, even up to an hour wait. But there is a lot of variety of sushi and so very good! read more
