Grinding their beef in house definitely makes a difference. I usually enjoy their Chickenator Fries but this time it looks like the recipe has changed. It still tastes good with their spicy sauces but I remembered that the chicken used to be pieces of grilled breast meat. This time, the cashier asked the chef if there was any chicken left for the Chickenator Fries. He said "yes," went to the freezer and showed her a frozen stick of ground chicken. Albeit, the ground chicken was seasoned well and tasted good; I was just expecting chicken breast meat. Also, the fries were very dark in my portion. They are still the same creamy textured Kennebec potatoes as before but seemed tired and old. Service was okay. They are not really set up for cash sales anymore since there was only 36 cents in their till for change at the time. Dining areas were clean but the interior is due for an update.

Ordered a 3x3 animal style, which was great as usual. The one thing that I'll give them credit for is that they actually got my wacky animal fries creation (done light well) with chopped raw onions, whole grilled onion, and whole raw onion correct! They layered the chopped raw onions on top of the melted cheese, then the whole grilled onion, then the whole raw onion, and THEN they put the secret sauce on top. Made it look aesthetically pleasing. Of course, I also added a meat and cheese patty (ordered on the side) on top of that to finish it off. It worked out exactly like I had hoped for! Staff here are great. Super friendly and willing to accommodate my animal fries request. I'll definitely stop by here again if I need to eat on the way to Las Vegas.

For those of us who've relocated to the Midwest, a California trip isn't complete without at least one visit, and honestly the anticipation starts before the plane even lands. The animal-style fries and animal-style burgers are an absolute must, and if you can handle the heat, do yourself a favor and ask for the chopped chilies -- you won't regret it. What also deserves a shoutout is how seriously they take allergies: staff audibly call the allergen alert straight to the kitchen and shift into careful preparation mode without missing a beat. It's the kind of attentiveness that's easy to overlook until you actually need it, and they handle it with zero fuss. Iconic food, great staff, and a ritual worth building your California itinerary around.

The grilled chicken breast came in two slices with one being very dry and the other was very woody in texture. Otherwise, the rest of the sandwich was fine with the whole wheat bun, sliced tomatoes, and lettuce being very fresh. This is the second time I received a chicken sandwich with quality issues so I probably will not order it again. Service was friendly and efficient. Dining room was clean and comfortable.
