It's been awhile since we were back the casino. The last time we ate at the buffet which was about a year ago we were quite impressed! Thee food was fresh and the looked very good. We recently came back and it is not what it use to be, the food looks cookie cutter or out of the box. Maybe someone is trying to cut corners. While passing through Petoskey on the way back from the UP to Muskegon, Petoskey was a good stopping point for a nice break. I had been to the Odawa casino once, long before their luxurious rebuild and remodel, but I remembered that the buffet was quite yummy. We stopped for a little break and were well rewarded. The casino is lovely and spacious with ample parking as well. The lunch we enjoyed at the buffet was reasonably priced and satisfying. The salad bar was exceedingly fresh and many options to build your own salad were offered, with many yummy dressings to match. The entrees as well were satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the chicken fingers and freshly prepared soups offered. The desserts were hit or miss. The whipping cream on some offerings was sort of unappetizing and dried out. That's okay, I simply chose baked goods instead. Service was wonderful and attentive, the facility was sparkling clean and the meal was satisfying and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this establishment for cleanliness, tasty food and stylish decor at a reasonable price. read more

This is a hard place to grade. While I love to stop for the ribeye strips and fried chicken, there are many other choices, usually ribs, roast, meatballs, some pasta/meat offerings, several potatoes, a couple of pizzas and some cheesy bread sticks, Mac & cheese, three soups that are usually quite good. The seafood is hit or miss, but the shrimp, perch, catfish, and mahi mahi are quite good. A few cold salad dishes, and some are usually interesting- not just a Cole slaw, potato salad, etc. Plus, the salad bar. Why is it hard to grade? Well, depends on when you go. If you go for brunch, it's the dinner menu minus the steak and a few less desserts, and limited seafood. But, you get breakfast items like eggs, waffles, bacon, hash browns, bacon, and BACON. Plus, it's $12 for brunch. Dinner is $20. When you go for dinner, you feel like you can't have soup or salad, because $20 isn't cheap. So you find yourself sometimes eating more proteins not only because they're pretty good, but because you feel like your getting your money's worth. If you have brunch, it's less about obtaining value, and more about enjoying yourself. As for desserts, the strawberry shortcake is very good, and the baked goods are excellent. Also good are the fruit crisps (apple, etc) but stay away from the cute creations on the display, because as good as the cake cups with cream and fruit look, they're always dry. Take the banana bread, etc... One thing that is pretty fun is trying to create your own stuff, because there are so many choices. For example, grab some creamed pasts, leave the chicken there, grab some meatballs, and... Swedish meatballs. Or, grab a hot dog bun, toss some ribeye strips in there, pour some A1 in there, and... Steak Sandwich! It's fun to be creative here. read more

We tried the Thursday night seafood deal for the first time in a long time, the price is over $25 now, and while the crab legs a small but plentiful, the perch is old and cool, the shrimp were very good, along with the frog legs, but they ration them. Asking the cook if he was going to have more shortly, he rudely replied how people eat to much and he has to make sure that he has some for later in the evening. Meh, seems the food sits out too long and is dry. Huge selection, so if you come across some dried out stuff, go for something else. I like the options of chinese, or polish, or pizza, or fish, but the price you pay does not show in the quality. Be sure to go when the have a special price that's lower than the norm. read more

Best buffet in Petoskey. This restaurant is located in the Odawa Casino, and while we don't gamble we do like the buffet. We have family in the area and when we visit we generally have dinner here because the kids can find any type of food that they want, and I can have prime rib. Its not cheap, but if you have a players club card then the price goes down. They have a sampling of many different types of food, so there is something for everyone. The quality is generally better than average buffet food. I did have breakfast here last winter when there was hardly anyone in the Casino so the buffet was over stocked and under used so the food quality suffered form lack of customers, which is not the operators fault however I wouldn't advise making a special trip for breakfast. read more

Very nice buffet to take the pressure off the gambling fever. Your points accumulate on their Player's Card and before you know it you're entitled to a terrific buffet. I enjoyed Steak, Prime Roast Beef, Whitefish, Mussels, Shrimp and several Vegetables and Potatoes prepared many different ways, including mashed. They have a fantastic desert bar with white coated chefs helping you make a decision. The service was excellent and the dining experience was a definite pleasure. This buffet was ok, but for the cost $37.95 for 2 people I expected more and better. To be fair the food was decent and the choices were ok, but for a Sunday night at about 5 there were only 5 tables eating. The food was decent, a lot of protein choices, but the top round being carved was a little dry and the prime left over in juice from the night before was well leftover. Unless you have a comped meal or are going for one of their promotional nights I would probably pick a different choice. read more

Thought we would stop and grab a bite to eat after spending a couple of hours gambling, we were seated promptly and a waitress was there in just a minute more. This buffet is as good if not better then any in Vegas, everything was good and fresh except the spare ribs were a little over done, the hand carved prime rib was great. We skipped the salad area but all of the side dishes were spot on and dessert offerings nice. We'll be back! read more

I'm really 2.3 in my estimate. Salad bar was so small I walked by it several times. It featured lettuce! Very chintzy. Unhealthy food was abundant. I had mussels to start. Yes indeed, my jaw muscles got a workout. Chicken was probably cooked just right 4 hours prior. Vegetables were just like mom used to defrost. read more

I actually work at the casino and still come on my day off to enjoy this buffet with my coworkers. I've been to dozens of buffets and this one by far is the best for the quality, variety and price. My favorites are the steaks grilled to perfection, whitefish and pretty much anything chocolate on the desert bar. read more

May as well go to Ponderosa. The food looks and tastes like it has been sitting and waiting for you for a long time. The crab legs are so small, they are not worth the time of shelling them. read more

We usually always take in the buffet while at the Odawa Casino. I really enjoy the wide selection. It encourages me to try something I probably wouldn't order at a restaurant because I might not like a full dinner of, say, paello (hope I spelled that right). My point is there are so many items to choose from, you're bound to enjoy several of them! And the desserts! OH MY! The desserts! Good thing they cut them into reasonably small slices, so you can have room to enjoy more than one type! read more
