United Brothers Concrete just completed replacing my two patios. I received their quote the next day, last Friday, 06/06/20 by email. After review, it was obvious their representative understood exactly what I wanted to accomplish as everything was included in the quote. I called their office and asked when they could start and how much deposit was needed to schedule the work. They fit me in between jobs, and we're able to start on Tuesday, 06/09/20 and only requested a 30% deposit. Tuesday a very well organized team is bright green shirts showed up and jack hammered everything up and started moving the chunk, in wheelbarrows around the condo out to the street where their trailer was parked. Wednesday they finished removing the concrete then smoothed out the dirt. Thursday the new concrete was poured. Friday, the wrought iron fence was replaced and additional matching fence and gate were installed. Saturday, I was surprised when they showed up and installed the artificial turn where requested. Fantastic job. Courteous, polite workers who all speak English, and good natured, lots of smiles and were very appreciative of the water, coke and gator aid I gave them. Saturday night I sent the balance due on the quote. This morning I called to thank them for doing a wonderful job and asked if there were any additional, add on charges. NO ADD ON CHARGES! Here is the amazing part. They were the lowest bidder of three bids, which had add on charges for the unknown cost of fencing or turf. The other two bids had add on charges and both wanted 50% down to start. The other two bids were 30% and 22% higher without the fencing or turf. For a fast quality job, call these guys. The job is supposed to start less than two weeks from now and they are trying to charge me an extra $5,280 at the last possible moment, which is an additional 50% of what the entire job was originally supposed to cost. To make matters worse, I am a rental property owner and I had specifically blocked out this week for the work to be done. Now my next window for having the work done is August as there is no way I can find another contractor to start on May 17 with such little notice. Plus I have taken a big hit to my rental revenue as the house will probably be sitting vacant for the week they were supposed to be there. I can't help but feel this was a big bait and switch to try to get more money out of me, knowing I was stuck with this short window of time to have the job done, and I had no other alternatives. I reached out to several stucco companies, most of them had two guys and said they could complete the work in one week. I reached out to David at Castle Stucco and he came out the same day to give us a quote. His quote was comparable to the other quotes but instead of offering us a sand finish, he offered us a smooth finish for the same price and said he could get the work done in two days. His team was out a couple of days later. Eight guys showed up and got straight to work. They covered the floor in plastic and prepped the house meticulously. They were quick, efficient and very professional. I was so impressed with this team! Every spot in the house was addressed with perfect detail. They were finished in two days and power washed The exterior cement around our house and left everything perfectly clean. From start to finish these guys were total pros. They showed up on time and finished on time. One of the best crews I've worked with as a designer. They showed up on time, on the days they promised and worked all kinds of hours to get the project done. They were polite and professional. They cleaned up all of their construction mess and hauled everything away. I was mostly off site and I never felt that I needed to check up on them. Their price was fair for the work I asked for. It was easy to pay them online. Luis communicated everything to me either through text messages or phone calls. He even sent pictures as he progressed with the project. After contacting and meeting with a couple general contractors to get some house projects done, I…read moreended up choosing G and G Home Services aka Greg Greenspan, which was a personal referral to me by my Realtor and Home Inspector. Greg was very punctual, organized, and very detailed orientated the moment I first shook his hand. He came to my house with his portfolio binder containing an area to take notes, special area for pens/pencils, business cards, etc. This showed professionalism and how organized he is, which is something that's hard to find. I ended up choosing Greg because his quote came in around $500-1000 less than the other guys I contacted. We set a time and date for him to show up and left him our garage door opener so he can come and go while we were at work. We had him repair our living room floor (had bad water damage from moisture underneath), put in a new side access gate, repair and install a new side door and frame, and install a bathroom fan and light. What I liked about his work is his attention to detail. Everything was precise and done right, and not to mention, if something was bothering him, he went back and fixed it until he was pleased with the outcome of it. Another bonus was that he gave us options in parts and materials...letting us know the price differences and his own personal recommendations. In the end, he finished everything with in a week and only went $100 over the proposed price (we wanted to upgrade a few things). We couldn't be happier with the work, professionalism and price. He is now our GO TO guy if we need any home repairs, maintenance, remodeling or home improvements!
