From the moment he…read morearrived, Chris was extremely professional, His expertise and attention to detail made the entire experience stress-free. I especially appreciated the extra care he showed--he even wore shoe bootie covers, which speaks volumes about his respect for my home. It's not often you come across a technician who is not only highly skilled but also genuinely cares about providing excellent customer service. Chris definitely deserves 6 stars extra one for the shoe covers and getting my unit FIX! He represents Thomas Service Co. very well. If you're lucky enough to have him as your technician, you're in great hands. I highly recommend him and the company for anyone needing HVAC or plumbing service.

Avoid this company at all costs. After years of trusting them with my Trane HVAC systems, only…read moreuntil recently (12-years later), I discovered they had been installing incorrect, undersized, non‑OEM parts on my units while they were still under full manufacturer warranty -- and they even installed those wrong parts and had the nerve to warranty them as if they were legitimate Trane‑approved components. These parts were never authorized by Trane and were completely incompatible with the equipment. This is not a minor oversight -- it is a serious warranty violation that directly undermines system reliability and lifespan. One star is far too generous for this company -- they don't even deserve a rating. If Google allowed it, they'd earn a solid "‑100" or an "F" for their business practices. Because of these wrong parts, my units suffered repeated failures every single year: burned contactors, overheated conductors, fried circuit boards, and premature system breakdowns. These failures were not random. They were directly caused by the non‑OEM components the company chose to install. The pattern is impossible to ignore -- the wrong parts guaranteed the units would fail again, ensuring the company kept returning to charge for repairs. This behavior does not look accidental. It looks intentional. Then came the most unbelievable part: after years of induced failures, they had the audacity to tell me I "needed new units" -- less than nine months after my warranty expired. The timing speaks for itself. Had I used a company that actually follows Trane's standards, uses OEM components, and is properly certified to work on these expensive systems, I would not be dealing with this mess. Instead, they spent years monkeying around with my units, setting them up to fail the moment the warranty ended. The pattern strongly suggests deliberate sabotage. The pricing is equally alarming. A capacitor they wanted $350 to replace costs $28.50 online -- and that price is for the correct OEM part, not a generic substitute. That is more than eight times the actual cost of the component. The company also advertises a Huntsville office that is vacant, while operating out of a completely different location. This raises serious questions about transparency, business legitimacy, and overall trustworthiness. Between the warranty violations, non‑OEM parts, repeated failures, extreme up charging, misleading billing, questionable business location, and the conveniently timed recommendation to replace both units right after the warranty expired, I strongly recommend that customers stay far away from this company. Verify every part, confirm every charge, and do not assume they are following manufacturer standards. The pattern I experienced was unacceptable and caused significant, unnecessary damage and expense. Their conduct reflects clear deceptive business practices that violate BBB standards for honesty, transparency, and fair dealing, as well as Alabama's regulations prohibiting misleading service representations and improper warranty handling. What I experienced is a direct violation of BBB marketplace integrity guidelines and Alabama consumer protection rules, which explicitly forbid misrepresentation of services, fraudulent warranty behavior, and deceptive pricing schemes.

Clint, from Rise Heat and Air came out as soon as he could and showed us that batteries corroded the old unit and we needed a new unit. A new simple thermostat was ordered--at our request--as we didn't want to get a royal headache trying to figure out programmable units! Order was placed in the morning and Clint came out that afternoon and installed unit. We are so happy! In almost one days time everything was back to normal. Rise Heat and Air (phone 256.867.5223) is a family owned business and Clint is a family member. Their reputation is on the line so they offer knowledgeable service and responsive customer service. We always try to go with a good family-run business versus big chains because, in our experience, we get better service. Rise Heat and Air was great. Clint was personable, took his shoes off when entering the home, wore a mask, and knew what he was doing. He also explained the new unit to us--although it is now so simple to operate. Yay! We will be calling Rise if we need any heat/cool service in the future.

Yesterday the system failed to cool. I called for service. The owner Ben Rise arrived onto the property didn't respond when I greeted him" He Immediately made reference to my other unit that they did not install. I mentioned to him that I called them first for a quote and went with the best offer. After that he determined that there was a leak. I simply asked him about why a new system would have a leak. He told me that would give me freon and I could call another company to fix it. He then told me I can call his attorney when I continued to ask why this issue was occurring with a new unit and new lines. He then stormed off my property yelling and screaming at me. He then got into his truck, reeved the engine and drove down the street putting lives in danger with his reckless behavior. Needless to say, his behavior is completely unacceptable, disrespectful and unprofessional. I have referred Rise Heat and Air numerous times over the years, but would never do so after this encounter. I have never in all my years been spoken to on my own property they way Ben Rise spoke to me this morning. Hire them at you own risk.

My emergency heat quit working and the cause was a blown relay, the result of poor electrician work…read more(and failures of simple math) from companies prior. The actual repairperson who did the work was knowledgeable, prompt, and faultlessly polite. That is the best part of this story so far. I was charged for a service call fee, 2 hours of labor (of which only 40 minutes was performed, I have it recorded both by phone calls and security camera) and a 1,600% markup on parts ($117 for less than $8 worth of relays; I googled the part number). When I mentioned these billing issues to customer service via email, they quickly corrected the labor charge, but stuck to their guns on the part markup because it "wasn't fair that our tech had to drive so far to get to you". The business is located about twenty minutes away from our major city center; and when, to save time, I first offered to send pictures of my unit and control panel before anyone came out I was told that would not be necessary, so any assertion of 'unfairness' or wasted time/lost profits is poor planning on the company's part, not mine. I told customer service that I could be charged a fair rate on parts AND labor or I would leave a one star review, or if they wanted the bill paid as it currently was written it would be the last money I spent with this company, at which point they tried some guilt trip of "well, you agreed to the work" despite having no written or verbal authorization of charges, and said they'd get back to me, but with no specified timeframe for doing so. It's been over four days speaking with the CS representative now and no resolution. This is the worst part of this story so far. I will gladly edit this review down when the billing is both accurate and fair, but I am four days into a series of emails and calls and am becoming increasingly impatient.

We set up the installation at the same time we bought the units online from the Google Store. Our HVAC system turned out not to be compatible with these thermostats, and the assigned technician could not complete the installation. So, we turned to Southern Comfort, having established that they installed the system during our home's construction. They got their Josh out to us later the same day! He installed a pair of Ecobee Smart Thermostats instead. Carrier made our HVAC system, and they now own Ecobee, so it was a sound choice on his part. Josh returned the next day at our request to fine-tune the settings to match our requirements. It's a sophisticated system, but he took the time to explain its nuances and get us in a happy, warm place. It was a delight to work with Josh and the Staff in the Southern Comfort Office. It was cost-effective and good value too. Oh, that we had been smart enough to contact them in the first place.
