They were able to schedule a visit from Jeff, one of their plumbers, the same day. He quickly was able to diagnose the issue and recommend a solution and quote a price for the work. At our request, he even opened up our kitchen ceiling to verify the source of the leak. The leak turned out to require the replacement of the wax seal underneath the toilet bowl. Jeff and his helper, Dimonte, did an excellent job of removing the toilet bowl, replacing the wax seal under it and re-installing the toilet bowl. They cleaned up completely after they completed the work. Unfortunately, since HEIL Plumbing doesn't do replacement drywall work, I was told I should select a local drywall company of my choice to handle the the drywall repair in the kitchen ceiling. Cold Comfort was our 3rd company to provide an estimate and to come out to assess my unit, etc. The owner, Gabriel was the reason we made this company our choice. He was down to earth, honest and provided solid reasons why they choose the products they use. Our unit was over 25 years old, had served us well and I was unfamiliar with some of the other brands being offered now. We were a "Carrier" family. They were immediate in responding with a same day appointment for the service call and we were scheduled for installation withon the same week On the day of installation, his amazing team arrived right in time w/ cheer and professionalism. They explained what they were doing and how, lines my floors with cloths and covered their shoes to avoid a major mess, they were efficient and communicated with us throughout the removal and installation process. They cleaned up after themselves leaving us with very little to do other than dust. They showed us how everything worked, how to troubleshoot if need be and how to communicate if there were questions or issues. In total, Cold Comfort replaced the entire HVAC system, our humidifier, thermostat and then several days later, our water heater! Whew!!! Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) We pushed off the replacement thinking our unit would survive one more winter, but of course of furnace went out unexpectedly in the middle of the night during one of the coldest stints of the season. Called Residential Express the following morning, they pulled up my quote from 4 months prior, verified the price hadn't changed and were able to schedule me for a full HVAC replacement the next day. Freddie and Flavian arrived on time and were very professional moving through our house and working in our backyard and utility closet. They explained any changes they needed to make, went over the new setup and recommended service intervals, and hauled all of the old equipment away, leaving our house looking better than when they arrived. New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.
