This hotel just recently opened in Nov of 2023 so it is pretty much brand new. I was in Edinburgh for 2 nights for a girls' trip. The reason I booked this hotel is because the exterior design caught my eye in addition to it being in a convenient area near city center. And it's new so I thought - what could go wrong? Hotel staff was very nice upon checkin. We arrived a little earlier than normal checkin times and they were able to accommodate us (albeit a accessibility room). I mention this because the set up of an accessibility room is different than standard and the counters and interiors differ. I didn't realize that when I got the room.
The room was smaller than I expected compared to other Marriott properties I've stayed at of the same caliber. We got a corner unit with no view at all which was disappointing. The thing that bothered us the most was that the soundproofing was not good at all. We could hear neighbors opening and closing doors, walk down the hallway talking, etc. Keep in mind this is a brand new hotel. The AC also would not adjust any lower and it was hot in the room. All in all, it was fine but not spectacular. read more
