I've been to this farmers market over the years - they stopped having it for a while and it was brought back by the ASCENDKemet Collective. This last time I went there was a vendor selling coffee/pastries, one selling pupusas, one selling pizza, two vendors selling green leafy vegetables (like collard greens, kale and bitter leaf), and Bernardino Loera Farms - notable for the seasonal avocado varieties they sell like fuerte, zutano, bacon - whenever the season for those comes up. This one is in a convenient location near the City Heights Library, a nice little park, and an El Super. There is parking on Wightman on the other side of Fairmount Avenue as well as other side streets in the area.

Everyone is friendly before the heat of the day takes its toll...LOL! Except for the "oh so cool wannabe influencer" whose dog wanted to meet Cako but she just pulled her dog away...Eeeewww! LOL! But it's not crowded and easy to walk through. Cako just lead me down the long aisle and our first stop was True Pet Kitchen. She didn't want the chicken treat but she was all over the salmon one! So we bought a bag...err...I bought her a bag. We then wandered down to Kettner. She then pulled me over to Stark, and the friendly guy offered a duck jerky, which she was happy to take. She then sat down for another, and he obliged. So I bought a bag from them too! We stopped at the Honeymoon Ranch stand for some baked goods! There was a man loading up a suitcase and apparently he bought all the banana bread. We scored our own, which was all for me. Great place to come to, but even better for your four legged furry family. If I come down again, it will be around 7:45, just before they open. Cako Approves!

The owner and founder Maruca had such a sincere smile and such a warm welcoming.I was excited to try what she makes.!! it was unbelievable I could not believe it was all gluten-free sugar-free and so natural from sourdough baguette to dinner rolls hamburger buns, hotdog buns, to cakes !! such a variety of everything!! But that's pretty common these days, not just for Farmer's Market, but parking in general. Lots of food options and I don't just mean vegetables. You could pretty much have breakfast and lunch here. And enough so you can skip dinner. I almost wonder if there are more food options than other vendors. I didn't count. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. Anyway, it's busy, colorful, and fun, and it has that San Diego weekend energy. Definitely check it out if you like fresh food, people watching and spending more money than you meant to.

The downside is the traffic to get back across the bridge. I did that for work (42 years). I go there every two weeks mainly to get tomatoes, almonds, and a few other things. In and out within 30minutes. I recommend going at 2:30 pm, getting what you need, and leaving, or going after 4:30 pm. Plan on leaving after 5:00 pm, and you will avoid most of the bridge traffic. I don't want to walk far and deal with a crowded marketplace. The 15-mile drive is worth it for me.

I'm assuming you have to rent one your self ! I did see a few animals , not as many as I had hoped for ! But I did enjoy checking out the fruit trees ! The trees are beautifully maintained . The bathrooms are in the back decently kept and good size !!
