The only disappointing thing was that they don't serve food (not their fault) upstairs - there is a really good looking cafe downstairs though...so because I was restricted in meetings up here I basically survived just on snacks from the bar like edamame beans, cookies and coffee - not a bad afternoon :-) I'd recommend this place for a quiet place to relax, meet up with friends and just generally have some peace and quiet in your life.

The seats are fairly comfy for your shorter movies but if you are going to watch an epic movies of one past 2 hrs i would defo pay the extra for premier seats as it would be more enjoyable.The premier seats are about 1.00 of so extra than you average seats. They have a wide range of food and snacks to have with your movies, these include your normal popcorn,sweet,hot dog and nachos. But they also have a coffee bar and ice cream bar. You can also book your tickets for the Odeon cinemas online and at home , they also do advance booking if a movie is just coming out and you want to make sure you gets tickets.

Smart, sleek and stylish, it puts on a wide array of thoughtfully chosen films and art exhibitions which arguably rival those of many larger art spaces. Take for example the recent 'Space Invaders' exhibition, which saw the space filled with retro arcade machines and exhibitions detailing the history of video games, or the wonderful WAR exhibition currently on in the gallery space. And then there's the building itself - a towering vista of glass and chrome, topped with a breathtaking atrium. Stand at the top of the building, and you can see down the entire length of Bold Street in all of its giddy glory. The cinemas themselves are a delight - the chairs are roomy and spacious, and they have a handy drinks rest for your pint - a very nice touch! Their film repertoire definitely rivals that of the major multiplexes - plus, at FACT, you're less likely to have M&M's thrown at your head by rowdy teenagers whilst you're trying to watch the main feature. FACT also contains a delightful little cafe which is a great space to curl up with a coffee and a good book on a sunny afternoon. It also has free Wi-Fi, which makes it a great place to work from during the day if you're looking to get out of the office. The only gripe I have with FACT is that sometimes there's not enough staff working in its bar - which means that the service on a busy night can be decidedly slow - not great if you've popped in for a quick drink before going to see a film. Once they get this right, I can think of no better place to go for an enjoyable and educational night out.

A light, airy and modern building (that was criticised at the time of building), Fact shows some great off-circuit and obscure films, but does so much more as well. A trendy bar area (the first place in Liverpool to sell Hoegaarden years ago before it was cool), drinks you can take into the auditorium, reclining seats, quiz nights, a cafe, wifi, sofas (in the ground floor cinema), various functions several times a month: you get the feeling from the outset that you're being treated like an adult. There are slightly cheaper places to see a film, but the simple fact here is that you get what you pay for: good films in a lovely surrounding watched by people that also like film and aren't going to wreck your evening. The local Odeon instead? Not a chance.

The cinema is absolutely top notch, it is the best cinema I have ever visited. They show a good mix of both major releases and independent films. You'll find big blockbusters rubbings shoulders with arthouse movies, or Japanese animation. They even show classics from time to time. Perfect. The art exhibitions change on a regular basis so it's hard to specifically review those. My favourite in recent memory is the "History of Music Video" piece they had in, where you could go through the evolution of the medium. I spent ages in here and wrote down a good few obscure artists I hadn't heard of so I could check them out later. Anyway, the exhibitions are always fantastic and imaginative. The bar is also much-loved. It's a favourite hang-out spot of mine, even if I'm not in the building for anything else. It doesn't boast a HUGE range of drinks but the atmosphere is always nice, relaxed and friendly. The cafe downstairs is equally as good, especially lately as it's been re-done and now offers a bigger selection. I'm especially fond of the different green teas. Anyway, FACT is a must. It's essential. It is the heart of Liverpool.

FACT = Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, so it's not just a cinema, it also has 3 art galleries showing various art exhibitions. FACT is an amazing arts centre - I want one in Belfast :-(

It is surprisingly large, for what looks like a little corner cinema. The quality of the building is fairly good, although I did go to see a film once in a smaller screen, and it seemed rather draughty and unattractive. However, on the whole this is a good place to go see a film. It has the expected amenities (outrageously overpriced food and drink, for example) and shows all the latest releases.

If you're a bit short on cash and can't afford tickets at full price or on the last minute, try going down on the day (preferably early!) as they sell any remaining tickets for a fiver. The theatre has been here for some time and while the fascia and theatre itself are fairly traditional - whitewashed, cornice studded walls and heavy red curtains are the order of the day - the reception and bar areas have both received a bit of a facelift. This combination of the traditional and the modern is indicative of the sort of work that the Playhouse plays host to. Recently I have seen a fantastic production of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales which was excellent and demonstrated the versatility that an apron theatre space still has, given a skilled production team and set of actors. The Woman in Black will be playing here very soon having had an immensely successful run in London and this is demonstrative of the sort of production and acting talent that the Playhouse can attract. Very, very highly recommended.
