Vue offers a student discount, and with Orange Wednesdays this helps to combat the ever rising ticket prices, but otherwise in comparison to most cinemas, the Vue prices are reasonable. This cinema offers the standard variety of sweets, popcorn, icecream, soft drinks and hot dogs that are expected of a cinema, and likewise with most places they are very overpriced. If you want to save money, buy your own sweets beforehand and take them in yourself.

Then it fell into disrepair and became a place you dared your mates to break into during the late 1980s after school had finished. Now, The Rex (as all good cinemas should be called) has been restored to its former glory. When I say former, think 1930s Art Deco, plush red seating, original projector and art house matinées. The place is a treat and a MUST visit for any cineophile. Prices are reasonable (approx £7 at time of writing) but availability is tough. You need to quick on the phone as it seems every person in Berkhamsted is a paid up member. Before each performance (and they are performances!) you can relax in the lobby where there are books on film to paw over or head down stairs and grab yourself a beer or a glass of wine. It's that sort of place. Do make sure you get to your seat in time for the traditional, and I found informative, pre film introduction from the Manager, James. A proud, curious creature James embodies the character behind this most charming of movie houses.

The cinema itself has a lobby with a long single counter, serving both the cinema tickets and snacks - mostly drinks and popcorn. There are automated ticket machines for pre-booked tickets. The individual theatres vary considerably in size, but all offer wheelchair access, and have premium reclining seats as an option for an extra charge. Otherwise, the big draw is the price - at £4.99 a ticket, it's one of the cheapest cinema experiences around. There's plentiful parking nearby in the Kingsmead car park, alongside local bus stops.

Meaning they block it off to stop people sneaking through. This creates an odd situation where the guy sells you tickets, gives them to you and then has a longer walk than you do to get to the theatre entrance and let you through. A standard ticket is very expensive at around £12 a ticket. So for £17.50 a month you can become a Cineworld member and will have unlimited movies and 10% of food and drink. When to have this card you can book online. The trailers last generally for around about 30 minutes so you can always get in and watch the movie even if you're late. Free parking outside which gets filled up at peak times very quickly.
