Typical cinema, seemed newly constructed and therefore was clean and tidy.....definitely recommend if you are fancying a movie

I have now been here twice. Once in March ages ago to see Zootropolis and now today I was back to see Moana. My one thought upon entry to the screen was that not all Vues are created equal, as this cinema was decorated differently to the one I usually visit at Ocean Terminal. Screen 7 was tiny as well with only about 10 rows of seats. It's strange. that a huge blockbuster like Moana which is only on its second week is being shown in possibly their smallest screen! I ended up smuggling in my own snacks as I did not want to pay Vue's extortionate prices. Luckily, my bag did not get searched and I just walked through to my screen without any questions. This cinema could do with a lick of paint. Some of the covers on the seats in my screen were filthy. And they weren't as comfy as the ones out at the Terminal. So with some new seats, maybe some new carpets in the hallways and some new lights on the screen numbers (the current ones look very 90s and not very attractive) Vue at the Omni could be the New Town's premier cinema! It gets 4 stars solely for Moana being amazing. And that we got discounted food at Filling Station with my ticket. read more

I love me some cinema, and now that I'm living a mere minute away from the Omni Centre I'm even more tempted to wander in there when I've got nothing better to do! Ofcourse, there's not much to pick from the movie list at the moment (apart from Eclipse...I "heart" Ed+Jacob) but the cinema's nice enough! They're at least ten viewing rooms, all quite large and extremelyyyyyy comfortable! My only complaint is that they can get a bit cold, but take a sweater with you and all will be fine. Vue cinema's perfectly situated with a wide variety of bars and restaurants in the Omni Centre, and if you're going to the movies, it's a good idea to make a night of it and visit the one the many attractions in the area! read more

Vue pretty much represents everything that is bad about cinemas today. It mostly shows rubbish, uninspiring films that appeal to soppy teenage girls and testosterone filled teenage boys. It sells overpriced drinks and snacks, which fools then proceed to munch all the way through your film (if you're hungry, go to a restaurant). It allocates seats and indulges in nonsense VIP seating (why should I have to pay an additional charge for a decent view of the screen). Plus, the poor staff look either bored or harangued and probably never even get to see any films. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

A nice cinema with comfy seating and good sightlines throughout. Everyone working was very kind and service was good, EXCEPT that on a busy Friday evening they had only a few people working the concession stand with a long and winding queue waiting for snacks. A manager type came and closed one of the registers down and pulled a staffer *off* the station as the number of people waiting to be served grew. Very odd. Vue Cinema @ the Omni Centre Upstairs of the Omni is all Cinema - 12 Screens. I ordered 4 VIP seats on-line and was advised to pick them up from the ATM near the booth. That would normally be a convenience - normally.. It is a system made for convenience (i.e. staff reduction) and SHOULD prevent punters from having to queue up to get some tickets. On arrival there were 3 ATMs, but only one working. Result for on-line booking convenience and £3 booking fee? I. Had. To. Queue. There was a booth - void from any employee and a quite a few confused and perplexed customers. On the booth window is a small notice that you can buy tickets at the food counter too. For.. eh.. added convenience. I decided to wait for the ATM to free up. Which was actually a good thing - because as we went upstairs there was a queue at the food counters - one not unlike you'll find at the check-in desk for Ryan Air or Easy jet - all cordoned off and snaky queue-management. Convenience? My arse! Ticket check was done by 2 staff directing you to the areas you need to go - I was please they let me take in my own water and I didn't have to put it in a plastic bag.. oh wait wrong this is a cinema. The Screen rooms where clean. The VIP seats are comfortable. I noticed that this cinema is using phone signal blocking. The sound was great and screen was sharp. After the show the run on the toilets was as you would expect, but the size was decent and toilets are in good repair and have plenty of basins. Another positive thing was that the day after they sent me a small survey on my experience with Vue. Hopefully they will do something with those responses. read more

It's not my favorite cinema but the fact that it's in town and easy to get to means it's the one I usually end up going to. I dislike the fact you can't book your seats in advance so if it's a busy film and you don't want to sit through all the adverts and trailers you end up in the rubbish seats down the front and come away with a serious crick in your neck. It does what it says on the tin so I suppose it's ok. read more

This is my go to cinema whenever I want to watch a movie. It's not cause this place is cheap... Oh no this place is expensive than the other cinema, but I just got use to coming here. Vue is pretty clean, though I'm starting to notice their seats are getting a bit more stains, so they need to start scrubbing or replace the covers. There are many screens and they tend to show the newest movies. The tix for an evening showing runs about £8-10 (estimate) and you get a discount if you have a student card. They have a large area to buy snacks... Typical expensive prices and they sell the same stuff you can find in other places such as popcorn, hot dog, nachos, candy, chocolates, ice cream, alcohol, and cola. What I like about this place the most I'd say is the location. You can watch an early showing of the newest movie then go out to the bars or dance at the clubs. There's also a lot of places to have a late dinner or dessert after. I've always read they have discounted prices on Tuesday if you sign up to be a member of it, but I've never receive a discount code after I gave them my email so not sure how well this program is being implemented. I only give this place 4 stars cause of the location and it's cleanliness though they are slipping in that department. read more

I went twice to watch a film at Vue. My experience was great per se: the films are pretty updated, the cinema theatre is large, wonderful acoustics, comfortable large seats, clean and generally of high standard. I've been to larger cinemas, but this delivers well in these technical things. They also have a website were you can learn what is showing and when. Some negatives include the price is a bit high, though students get a little cheaper ticket. The soft-drinks get one star, they are expensive and half filled with Ice (in December who needs that!) and the taste of the coke was really a mockery of some cheap brand. Popcorn also expensive in my opinion, knowing that it does not cost much in reality. The good news[ to some extent] is that you can save on the food with some cheeky moves. I have bought some nuts from the Tesco store opposite the road, put them in my jacket pocket, and was no problem to eat them at the cinema. If you are a lady, you may also drop in your bag a coke (a real coke!). Saying all that, it is a good cinema with a good ticket price read more

Clean big cinema. (£5.55 to £7.40 full price) The standard class seats are comfy and removable armrest which it good if you want to stretch out or snuggle up close with someone. GOLD CLASS (£9.40 full price) HUGE comfy leather chairs and access to a bar and free. (It's really up to you but if you going to sitting for a long time consider it) Look out when you on they out down the glass stairs I have had a few static shock from the bannister not very nice. Food & sweets are tad over price so plan a head and buy your sweets before you go. read more

My friend treated me to a Gold Class cinema screening last week. I was really dissapointed, truth be told. The only differences between the Gold Class and a normal Vue screen seems to be 1) Entry to the Gold Class bar (insert sarcastic wow) and 2) leather faced chairs which are slightly larger than normal, with attached side tables. Oh, and there are less seats in the Gold Class screens. Apart from that, I don't know what exactly warrants the extra cost - it was no more 'special' than a normal night at the cinema. Plus, no-one checked our tickets AT ALL during the evening which I found odd! I wouldn't recommend it as a special treat - you'd be just as well sticking to a normal screen, in my humble opinion. read more

A pretty good cinema, the same as any other Vue multiplex around the country but still it's in a nice development in the center of the city. The films are the usual expensive price but you can always use the Orange Wednesday offer to get cheaper tickets. There's a good selection of chain bars and restaurants in the Omni center that you can visit before or after film. Omni is also good because they don't monitor individual screens so you can nip out of one and into another without getting caught! read more

This cinema is really handy being in the centre of town and when I moved nearby I was sure I'd be a regular visitor. Not so unfortunately. As with all cinema chains nowadays, watching a movie is not cheap and sadly, vue doens't offer any discounted monthly tickets. So thats 7 quid just to go and watch a film, not including your parking ticket and any food or drink you want when you get there (and yes, they're over-priced as you would expect). The quality of the cinema is obviously top notch but the whole places lacks any character for me. Oh, and on my last visit the toilets needed cleaned. This is a great cimena, where you can get gold class also, which means you can get drinks delivered to your seat in the cinema. Obviously the gold class is more epensive, round about £4-£5 dearer. Now when you go to VUE they give you a voucher which entitles you to £1.50 of your next view at the cinema, this has a date on it though, but if you go to the cinema often, this really does come in handy. Edinburgh is lucky to have some cinemas that have real character - Dominion, Cameo - and the Omni Centre's Vue is not one of them. It is an overpriced chain cinema, and somehow feels cold and unattractive as I sit clutching my warm, plastic bottle of beer in my gigantic cold seat. The picture quality and sound system are indeed impressive though, and I suppose those who visit the cinema purely for the purposes of the movie experience would not be disappointed. Don't expect to see anything other than the most mainstream of Hollywood blockbusters here though. read more

The machines to purchase tickets downstairs wont accept US credit or debit cards because it requires an ID to be viewed which was inconvenient. It did not accept my Amex or debit card, but accepted my friends Discover.. we went up to get food and found out they DON'T PUT BUTTER ON THE POPCORN. What kind of blasphemy is this!!!! We asked the girl if there was any addition or option to add and she boredly replied "no". The theatre itself was clean, a lot of young college or high school kids there on a Saturday night... we watched the Crimes of Grindenwald because hello, a HP movie in Edinburgh? Yes please!!! ALSO when you are paying with cash make sure you have enough or exact, when my sis tried to buy ice cream and was two pence short, the girl made us leave the ice cream at the counter and go back in the theatre and get a 5 pence. This cinema is very good. It's pretty new so all the facilities are very good. It has 12 screens and shows all the big movies. The seats are big and comfy with lots of leg room, and it's also very clean, even on the floor which is unusual for a cinema!!! The gold class service is good. You get a better seat and are brought complimentary snacks throughout the film. The cinema is pricey though, (and the popcorn even pricier), but all cinemas are nowadays. Don't get the nachos. I can't stress this enough. The hallways to the screens are weird. Feels like something out of a David Lynch film with the dark lighting and bold colours. About the same prices as Odeon and the people at the till were nice, so yeah, not too shabby. read more

I have always had a great experience here. The location is extremely convenient, which also makes it a tad more expensive than some other cinemas here in Edinburgh. That said, it is so easy to get to and they have a great selection of popular films, making it the cinema I've gone to most frequently as of late. It's clean and they either have staff and/or machines to buy your tickets at downstairs, and I generally like its window-y Omni Centre entrance. It works well for me and I don't have much to criticise here besides its prices, but then again everything is getting so expensive these days (now I'm sounding old, so I'll stop here). read more

I watched Pirates of the Carribean yesterday in Screen 12 and the ceiling lights remained brightly lit throughout the screening. Was told by an extremely rude staff member that this is the "norm" and they cannot dim the lights in screens 10-12. Complete waste of time and money! read more

i don't have too much to say about this vue cinema actually, but it seems pretty a-ok to me. on a thursday night it was pretty empty so there were not queues at the automated ticket machines on the ground floor. i was surprised that for a cinema that services the majority of the new town and east end of edinburgh there was only three ticket machines and the other ticket windows were closed. this probably lends itself to causing queues on busiers nights such as orange wednesdays. however, you can buy tickets at the concession stands if you want to buy popcorn and drinks at the same time. there are a decent number of theatres for showing movies and this cinema has all the new releases. however, it does seem a bit tired as it is used quite a bit so could do with a bit of a face lift (new carpets and seats in the theatre). the staff are pleasant and it's a convenient location, so really no complaints. however, i still prefer the vue at ocean terminal so only three stars for this branch. read more

This place has more or less all you'd expect from a mainstream multiplex cinema. There are tons of screens, and they have a fairly wide programme, quite often showing the more obscure releases (as far as mainstream goes). The theatres themselves are very comfortable, with cosy seats and tons of legroom. Some films are showing in Gold Class only, which never seemed to me to be worth the extra money. Unfortunately, as you would expect in a cinema, the price of food and drink is extortionate. However, I've had some great times there. The cinema is part of a large complex containing plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and such, and it's in a very nice part of the city. read more

This cinema is always clean and comfortable. Has loads of screens and also has a gold class screen which if you want to pay the extra money is great. Their wide screens are awesome here and sound is always spot on. They always show the latest releases. There is a ticket machine where you can buy your own tickets by card, rather than having to queue up which is always good. As like any other cinema the popcorn and sweets are way overpriced. The air conditioning always seems to be set on cold, so remember your coat in winter time. Other than that it usually is a pleasant enough experience to visit. read more

As it is in the proximity of the city center, it is an expensive place to watch a movie. I live nearby so it is convenient to me. There are more screening times which is also good if you missed out the first show. After the movie, there are as well restos and bars around where you can sit and enjoy the light outside.. : ) read more

This cinema is great for watching any genre of film. Large, comfy seats in big viewing lounges, and very friendly staff make the whole experience a good one. Electronic machines (and booths, open peak times) offer tickets downstairs, but you can buy your tickets upstairs at the food stand (to tempt you to buy their food!) for something like 45p cheaper! I think that is a bit cheeky, but doesn't detract from the cinema's quality. Less than £5 for students. Confusing stair/escalator system which gets completely blocked everytime people queue to go into a film but you get used to that! read more

Excellent cinema. It has 12 screens with great view of the screen from any seat. The ticket prices are cheap and the film food is amazing. I would recommend this VUE cinema rather than the one at Ocean terminal just because its much cleaner and bigger. Great work VUE! read more

Quiet good and u have many options

Sound and screen quality good, seats ok but I find them less than comfy unless paying extra for VIP. Have been quite often due to its location but not my first choice. Have twice queued for tickets and given up and caught the bus outside to Cineworld (better staff, better pricing, comfort etc). Vue ticket machines seem unreliable. Staff vary from very nice to offhand and almost surly to the point of rudeness. Of the seven cinemas in Edinburgh I'd probably place this only second to bottom out of the seven main ones. But it's location and plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby is a bonus. read more

The prices keep going up and up, but so do all cinema prices at the moment. The popcorn is subpar but edible and the ice-cream's yummy. You can queue for tickets at the same time as refreshments which is good, or if you're not hungry there are ticket machines downstairs. There is always a wide range of films on, although they don't really show foreign or arty films here. Unfortunately to use the loo you have to go into the screen bit, which is always infuriating when arrive desperate for the toilet, but usually they're nice and let you run through if you explain (you can tell this has happened to me :P). A good thing to know about the toilets between the numerous screens is that although only one set are sign posted, there are two sets which is handy as they tend to be quieter when there are large queues for the sign posted ones. The seats are comfy and at just the right distance for you to use the back of the seat in front as a footrest (provided there's no one in the seat in front of course). One important thing to mention is that the web timetables can be misleading if you don't notice the letters GC for gold class in the corner: these showings cost more and are only available to those over 18 or accompanied by an adult, as they serve alcohol there. All in all a fun place to go and see a film, and a good place to shelter from the rain too, being the only building you can really walk into on that side of the street. read more
