I've only been to the cinema twice in the past 5 years, both times within the space of a week, and both times to watch Pierce Brosnan in a completely bizarre role - once in Mamma Mia, the other in the Thomas the tank engine movie! So, I'm not really up on cinemas these days, but as it goes I really enjoyed both these nights out. I was absolutely horrified to discover that my husband had spent £8 - EIGHT QUID! - on pick'n'mix, and I was too scared to even look at the prices of the other snacks for sale. But I'm sure that's the same everywhere. Cinemas have come a long way in comfort in the past few years too, if Donny Vue is anything to go by - the seats were very comfortable. But am I getting old? Or is it really too loud in there? I like the location of this cinema, in a nice quiet corner of a large development with masses of free parking. I'll definitely be back again soon, but hopefully to see something without Pierce Brosnan (no offence though!). read more

This is a excellent picture house,Its really modern with loads of different films running at the same time,quite often they have special events for example on halloween one year I went to see the exorsist at midnight.They have a kids club showing films for younger children on saterday mornings ,They have fresh popcorn and a pick and mix counter and they also have kids value packs which contain popcorn,drink and sweets which is quite good value. since the odeon closed down this is the only cinema in doncaster so it is essential for the town read more

A pretty terrible example of a Vue Cinema. For a start don't go for a late showing - your car will almost certainly be broken into. The film rooms are very much shoeboxes. There is no high seats - the backrow is only slightly above the front row! The seats are standard and not very comfortable, and overall its not a good experience. I suspect its not doing too well, as there is no longer a ticket office. As other people have said - you either use the card machines, or just the refreshments queue - and don't expect to see the start of the film. The whole place just feels a bit cheap and unloved. Go the extra few miles to Vue at meadowhall to see what cinemas should be like. read more

Not great to be honest now the ticket office is closed. The Odeon in the town centre shut down this year so you'd think they would make the most of that as it's the only cinema left in the whole of the Doncaster borough. Once in, the seats are not very well set out and if someone tall sits in front of you, you cannot see a thing! Like most cinemas, food and drink is expensive. I'd rather visit the Cineworld at Sheffield Centertainment. read more

Ok so my review on the Vue ... Words difficult, ignorance, different and don't think if a place looks pretty the place is classy! My 12 year old daughter and her 12 year old friend went to see zoolander 2 on their own however they didn't look at the tickets so they say in the theatre where they thought they were watching zoolander until it said 'deadpool' now this is a 15 film why didn't he stop them obviously they apologised and gave them tickets to the correct filming ( after 10 minutes of waiting ) and once they got inside the film was 5 minutes in and they had to just assume what had happened. Certain members of staff can be very ignorant. As they take their time when getting your food drink and ticket as they rip you off after your child has screamed for a box of popcorn refusing it from asda and you watch your money being scooped up along with the popcorn and when they ask you for what flavour it's a matter of the sweet or salted but if you go before they fill it up at night it's salted or nothing as all of the decent popcorn is gone Don't be deceived by a pretty floor and fancy seats with nice bathrooms as if you saw it before refurb you would not recognise the place at all it would be a different country! BRING BACK THE TICKET OFFICE ! There is no ticket office at Vue Cinemas in Doncaster. To obtain your ticket you either: have to use a machine where you pay by either Direct Debit or Credit Card, thus incuring a charge. Or you have to join what may be the slowest moving queue in the UK at the refreshments kiosk to purchase your ticket. WHAT A COMPLETELY STUPID SYSTEM ! All I wanted were two tickets to watch Batman - The Dark Knight. They expected me to wait patiently in their little line, there was actually about 20 people in front of me. Waiting whilst each party of mum and dad, timmy, billy and zoey and grandma make up their minds about who wants a hot dog, who want a burger, who wants their hot dog with mustard, who wants it with ketchup, who want cheese on their burger, who wants a plain burger, who would like some nachos, who wants drinks, what flavour drink, what size drink, who wants ice, who doesnt want ice, who wants popcorn, what size pop corn, who wants candy floss, who wants ice cream, what size ice cream, do you want a flake with your ice cream, who wants a tub of candy, what size tub of candy. Waiting, waiting, waiting who wants a T-Shirt of the film, what size T-Shirt, have you got my size, do you do it in black, who wants a hat of the film, wait a minute sir we've just ran out but there are more in the stock room - I'll just get you one. Waiting, waiting, waiting then the spotty uninterested teenage assistant has to read the entire order back out to the family to confirm it's correct, but it's not, it's wrong so we have to go through it all again Waiting, waiting, waiting Now he has to assemble the order, you just know he wont get it right, surprise surprise - it's wrong so we repeat the process of checking to see who's got what and what is missing. This isn't easy as 2 of the kids are now fighting in the arcade area of the cinema, granma suffers with toilet problems and is in the ladies, so mum has to try to round everybody up. Waiting, waiting, waiting Finally family no 1 order their tickets for the film and shuffle off under their mountain of food and goodies towards the screens. Next, shouts the young lad. Just another 6 familys in front of me. At this rate I may just make the ending credits. I had foreseen these delays and immediately questioned an employee about their policies. I was not happy with her explanation and requested the manager. The manager said they wanted the ticket office open but head office would not let them and it was against company policy for them to have the ticket office open. All tickets have to be purchased through the refreshment area, thus boosting their sales and profits. The manager informed me that she couldn't just process a ticket sale through her kiosk tills as the rest of the customers would probably riot. She directed me to the pick n mix sweet arcade which was empty but who also sell tickets for the films. WHAT A FARCE ! No wonder people are downloading films to watch, it's just so much easier. If I could allocate NO STARS then this place would be on the receiving end of one. And they say the customer comes first. Really ? If you are going to this cinema to watch a film I would advise that you leave well before it's screening time. Use the Pick n Mix till, people are unaware that you can purchase tickets there. As for me, the next time I go to the cinema will be to the Odeon in the town centre. read more

This multiplex cinema is pretty standard fare. Since the recent closure of the Odeon in the town centre, it's the only cinema left in the Doncaster area. Be warned; the pick and mix is ludicrously expensive, and the cinema sometimes seemed a bit understaffed, so leave plenty of time spare to get you tickets and snacks so you don't miss the start of your film. read more

Good cinema with 7 very good sized screens, sony 4K & dolby Digital throughout. Soon, to be remodelled into an 11 screen multiplex, c/o an extension and complete remodelling of existing screens to stadium seating, ( sloped at the moment.) Seems one screen may get the Vue XTREME treatment too. Will, no doubt, earn the full 5 Stars then. read more

The Vue in Doncaster is perfect for the couple or group looking for a easy, no worries night out. Perfectly located just outside the city centre, the complex has plenty of free safe parking with good lighting. In the same grounds there are also a couple of good value restaurants and even a Mc Donalds for the young at heart.Which now stays open until 3 am on a weekend, so even if you venture out and see the late screenings on a Friday or Saturday you can still grab a midnight snack. The Doncaster dome is also within walking distance from the cimena, so if you still have the energy you could either pop in for a swim or even don your ice skates and have a few laps of the indooor ring. read more
