I was so nervous to go to the dentist after my crown fell out. My last dental experience involved a hard sell approach to some very expensive dental work. Ironically, this crown was the work that last dentist did. I went in really worried that a root canal would be encouraged. I don't have dental insurance and so I was worried about the expensive. $100 later, I walked out with my crown fitting better than it did before abd no longer putting pressure on the teeth above it (pressure that often causes headaches). I'm almost glad the crown fell out. If I have fewer headaches now, it will have proved nothing short of a life changing experience. (I know that sounds extreme). Had a tooth extracted on Thur. and on Sat. I started having excruciating pain. I called their number and pressed zero for afterhours calls and ended up leaving two voicemail messages. The female doctor Dr. Pat. didn't respond to me until 10:56 pm Sat night to tell me she did not have access to call in prescriptions earlier in the day and that she had called me in some antibiotics to help with the pain. Ummm no pharmacies are open on Sunday so I could not even get the antibiotics. NO pain medications were called in, and I had been taking 800mg of Motrin and Tylenol together. In addition, she asked me what I did for a living and I told her I was a RN. Not long after that she had a girl come in and try to talk me into looking into dental implants. I told her I would like to see how much they would cost and she brought me back a piece of paper that had a quote of $35,000 dollars. She also charges $348.00 dollars to pull one tooth. They do not care about their patients and are only looking to see how much profit they can make. read more

I got an upper denture last year from them and I've had to have endless adjustments just so I could wear it. It never fit well and has always chewed up and bruised the roof of my mouth so it's too painful to even wear. And now they've started charging me over $100 each visit to adjust it so it will fit enough so I can use it to eat. They make a small adjustment then tell me to go home, let it heal, then come back for another adjustment. I wasn't made aware there would ever be a charge. If I had been told, I would have insisted they make more adjustments at one time, not go home and heal and come back again so they could charge me again. read more

While at my appointment on the Thursday December 2, 2021, my dentist and I dialogued about the work that needed to be performed. I misunderstood some of the information that I received during my previous visit. It was determined that I would not be getting a new partial and that the extraction would not be performed during this visit. While I understood that it was at his discretion, he informed me that I would need to go have my two wisdom teeth pulled and a tooth at the bottom pulled before he could began working on the partial for the top of my mouth. So, I repeated my understanding of the dialogue to him. I repeated to him that he was basically telling to make three more visits to VSP aside from the visits to get the other teeth removed. I informed him that I could have had anyone do the extraction. I saw the work that was done on others and that was why I chose to drive two hours. I informed him that I was not concerned with the wisdom teeth because they were not bothering me. The new partial was what I wanted most. Even though I was irritated because I drove for two hours to find out that this is a second visit with no work conducted, I was not disrespectful. However, the dentist seemed to have been irritated. He informed me that I should find someone closer to home. He then had me put the partial back into my mouth after having me take it out at the beginning of the dialogue. I asked him why I was putting it back in if he was going to do the extraction. He said, "I want to show you something." He then began pushing on the damaged tooth pretending to poke around towards the wisdom tooth on that side. While he was telling the assistant to show him something on the screen he kept pushing on the damaged tooth with his finger firmly at least three times. He then went on to tell me that I needed that tooth to hold the partial in my mouth. The tooth has been hurting very badly since. He already knew that the tooth was painful because I told him during this visit and the previous visit. He also knew that he was not going to do the extraction or the partial. So I have been wondering what his reason was for pushing on the tooth or for looking in my mouth again with the partial in. I feel that he knew that it would cause more pain and did it as a way to get his anger out. I feel that this young man might be at the beginning of his career and has to learn that customer complaints should not be taken personally. Making the customer happy increases repeat business and if the customer does not want to comply with what he wants, they do not have to. This post will hopefully help him to realize that trying to get back at the customer is a bad way to do business. So we called to find out if they took our insurance Humana for dental. Over the phone they said yes. So we sent over all of our information 2 weeks prior to our dental appointment. We arrived to a very nice clean overly heated dental office. They thanked us for filling out all dental paper work in advance then proceeded to attempt to verify insurance which they should of before our appointment. Then they said we are out of network but tried to make us pay 750 and have our insurance do it later? So we already called two weeks in advance they said they take our insurance now we are out of network? So why did you waste out time then tell us we are out of net work when you know insurance will not reimburse us. My suggestion be honest with patients tell them if you take their insurance don't try and waste people's valuable time and tight in front if is call you should of already did that two weeks ago. Watch what you say , the woman dentist , patel,here is very sensitive, I made a post on Facebook explaining my experience because they tell you they love feedback but what they don't say is only "positive " feedback will be tolerated, seems to me the bad reviews are just as important because it shows what you need to improve on and then the day of my extraction, they had me wait, pulled me to the back and then they refused to do my extraction because I hurt her feelings. Did not care I was in abject pain. Only cared about payment. Charged me a bit over one hundred dollars and did nothing to help me.

I called the office to make sure they could make a flipper and have it back to me the next day! Brittany answered the phone and stated they could have it made and back the next day but no later than the second day early morning because I had to be at work that day by 11am. No one called me the next day or the second. So I called and spoke to Brittany again and she stated it was delayed but if I would come by that dr Patel would put in a "fake tooth" until Friday which was my next day off. I went in early morning before work and the fake tooth placed and was told now don't bite down or eat anything hard or chewy with this in. Oh yeah it was one of my front teeth, hard not to use those teeth not to bite down. I went back on the 5th day and my mom went with me because Brittany told me I could come pick it up but this is a flipper and has to be fitted to your mouth. My mom also flew in from out of town to make sure this got handled and was done correctly. After all it cost a pretty penny out of pocket and that's even after insurance covered their share. When the lady came in to show me the flipper the tooth in it looked like a 4 year olds baby tooth. It was very tiny. She tried to tell me well that's what the lab made according to your impressions. NO! Dr Patel finally came in and told the lady no it was made wrong and too small for my mouth and it had to be sent back. She checked the tooth she bonded in earlier in the week to make sure it wouldn't fall out while we waited. I was told again be back the next day. Anyway I kept calling the office daily to ask about it and was it back. Brittany kept saying no!! It was still not back two weeks after my initial visit. Also I ONLY went to that office because I needed something simple and needed it the next day not two weeks later. I had been warned by other dental offices in the area to stay away from vsp because their reputation for quality work left something to be desired. Finally after two weeks and making a big deal when I called back I spoke with a lady named Joanne who told me they went back and looked at the call log and that I had not called everyday for the past week. ???? I was like really, I have my cell, my moms cell and my work number, did she need the other numbers to verify yes I have been calling. But that was so not the point. The point was after two weeks I still don't have a flipper and yes I paid the first day I was there and they filed the claim with insurance that day as if it had been done! Finally my mother called and spoke with Joanne and she told her we would just like a refund and would be going elsewhere. Joanne acted like she didn't know what had been going on and stated she would speak with dr Patel and call her back. She called me back the next day being arguemenative and stated they no longer had the impressions and I would need to come back and start the process again. I told her I would once again like a refund and she stated no they would redo it but no refund. My mom called and told them that we were calling the bank and disputing payment and notifying the insurance company of the false claim as I never received a flipper from them. Joanne really didn't seem too concerned with this at all. Take it from me. Communication is basically absent. Dr Patel is very nice but Joanne, Brittany give her staff a bad reputation. Though I'm ashamed to say, I'll start with... I have not been to a dentist in YEARS! I found VSP on google and had a friend go before so I decided to try them out. I went for a regular cleaning one day and here it is 2 months later and I've been to this office 5 times. Though unexpected, I will say that each visit was nothing short of exceptional service. First of all, I love how the same hygienist worked with me each time. Sarah is amazing! She always explained to me what exactly was going on and made sure my needs were met. On my fourth visit, I finally met Dr. Patel whom so far is equally as amazing. Both women have been so kind. They made me feel comfortable and didn't judge me based off my lack of dental history. They were fast too, without rushing. I never once felt like i was being rushed out the chair. This office is just jaw dropping. The technology, the modern feel, the staff, everything! Both my back teeth were damaged but only one was causing me pain. Went in to have it pulled. Specified repeatedly with multiple employees that I wanted the second to last tooth pulled. When I got home they had pulled the wrong tooth. When I called back to explain the situation they tried to act like I was trying to get something for free and were very rude. read more

I went in with an abscess ( golf ball on my jaw). I honestly didn't think I could get it extracted that day but I did expect pain meds and antibiotics. I'm a nurse, not a drug seeker. I got a rx for abts and was told to take Motrin every twelve hours. Are you kidding me? I was already past the recommended dosage for Advil and Tylenol for the day and its only 3pm. I voiced my concerns over the pain, she relaid them. He stuck with the Motrin. I was then given a plan of care for $1300 that started with extracting a tooth that wasn't even close to the one that was abscessed. Dr Patel was on vacation, the women in the office were fine, this sidekick of hers I assume thinks shaking hands makes up for bedside manners. Ive never been to a dentist who didnt empathize with the pain. I hope to never go to a dentist that acts that arrogant again. I have antibiotics, pain meds and an appointment for an extraction of the one tooth that is causing the problem with another dentist.
