This is a unique park in Manitowoc County. There is a natural limestone escarpment that runs along…read morethe West Twin River. The park itself is well maintained. There are natural caves that have formed in the limestone escarpment. Some are just big enough to peer into, and a couple you can wiggle into for a few feet. The caves are marked so you know which one you're looking at. The park has some good hiking trails. This is the main reason I come here. There is a nice trail above the escarpment. That one winds around several acres of wooded landscape. The lower ones follow the escarpment to each cave and continues along the river for the better part of a mile. If you're into hiking, this is a nice 4 mile hike.

Lesson learned; October is a time when the waterfall is not flowing so we could see the stones and…read morerocks which are fascinating, but no flowing water to enjoy. We started on the trail but quickly lost it and so we headed back after a short hike. But the view of the falls and woods is beautiful so we enjoyed ourselves anyway. I guess we just got our timing wrong. As we got back to the car we found ourselves parked among many trucks with bow hunters. They were friendly and heading deeper into the property but we felt it was time to leave since we did not have any blaze orange on and our dogs were with us. I imagine spring is a better time to visit and I will check further before we visit again. There is no parking or entry fee, but there is a box for donations as you feel are appropriate.

We have friends whose hobby is to visit waterfalls in Wisconsin. Found this idea worthy of copying…read more Our first outing was to Fonferek's Glen. We got to a crowded parking lot, and parked in one of the few empty spots. The walk to to waterfall overlook is easy if not a bit muddy. This is a pretty waterfall about twenty feet high. There are trails that take you around and down to the bottom of the falls. Nice spot to visit and take pictures. There are no restrooms or picnic areas, just the falls. I have to add social commentary here. We met about thirty people walking to and from the falls. The twenty something's walked by with their eyes firmly on the ground. The forty something's looked up and said hello back. The sixty somethings made eye contact, smiled and said a pleasant hello. Generational differences were apparent. Bottom line, this is a very pretty spot for a quick visit. Be respectful of the private property.

Jones Park now is really different now than when I was a kid. There has been some amazing work done…read moreon it and it is a beautiful park near downtown Appleton. There is plenty of green and tons of space for picnics, running around, outside games with a playground and special events throughout the year like Mile of Music. I think in the winters, they have an outdoor ice skating rink. Or they did at least when I was little. A great little park in the heart of the city.

Recently won a family pass to Heritage Hill. I held only a vague recollection of being here one…read moretime in elementary school for a field trip. I believe adult admission is $10 per person. We spent about two hours walking through the historical eras. Our favorite was spending time with the fur trader. We were each given the opportunity to throw a hatchet into a wooden block. He was quite interesting and you could tell he enjoyed his role. The "characters" explaining each structure really added to the experience and compelled the kids to actually retain a little something from the visit. The grounds themselves are beautiful and scenic to walk. They rent the facility for private events and it would be a great site to host a wedding if you could stay late enough into the evening. Lots of spots for wedding party photos. We enjoyed our visit and I am glad to have experienced Heritage Hill as an adult with my own children. It's not anywhere were likely to return to anytime soon but worthy of a first time historical & heritage visit if you find yourself in the Green Bay area looking to do something not Packers related.

I was very impressed with how well maintained, clean and nicely thought out this park is. We have a hard time finding nice safe places for our small dogs but this fit the bill! Highly recommend and we will be coming back. We drive from oshkosh to come here because nothing by us compares.

Small ice rink located by the Brown County Fairgrounds. Went here to watch a friend's 8-year old…read moreplay some hockey....which is always entertaining. This rink is nice for kids and amateur leagues as there is seating on one side of the rink, but still enough for the types of crowds they draw.
