Was able to play with my Bro- and Mother-in-law, had an easy time booking a time around 745a and we were able to go out a few minutes early too. Nice staff, pro shop guy let me snag a bag of tees on the house, we grabbed drinks from a friendly bartender at the turn, and noticed a drink cart guy was driving around once we were halfway through the back 9. Great signage and good combo of cart paths and open grass to drive on (love that combo as we have all concrete paths typically in Houston). Multiple tee boxes to choose from and longest was around 6450yds, and dated gas carts that they were cleaning as we were ready to head out. Course was in good shape, greens were nicely manicured and probably rolled around a 10-11? Really enjoyed how consistent they were. No patches of note. Fairways were rewarding and provided lush approaches, and rough wasn't too long and penal. Good mixture of holes, 9 towards the clubhouse is intimidating, yet a drivable par 4, and 18 was the star. Would definitely play again for the $75 fee w cart. Looked to be nicest public course in the Spooner, WI area. Finished in about 4 hrs, and we stopped at the turn for a drink run. If rating solely on that i would give it 4 stars. I rated as I did because the staff is rude at best pushing towards unprofessional and insulting. The course ranger we encountered today was pushing for a punch in the nose. We were a foursome iof seasoned (I'm in my 60's) golfers who know and play with proper golf etiquette. There were a large number of 2 somes and singles playing this Sunday. They are obviously going to play a faster round and when they were waiting on us, we would let them play through. The ranger busted our chops about not letting people play through. Why would this course book anything other than 3-4 somes on a weekend and combine doubles and singles? Very unlikely I'll be back until there are new owners, which based on the relatively empty parking lot at peak season will happen sooner than later.

Drove by a million times and I had never stopped to play until this trip. Glad I did! This course reminds me of the beautiful courses in northern Minnesota with amazing sight lines and a great layout. Only a couple quick issues, it had not rained for a few days before we played yet the course was very wet for some reason. Also the greens were quite shaggy and inconsistent which made it a bit frustrating. All in all we had a great time and I'll be playing there again!

The condos are spacious but there are too many silly rules and requests to follow for a "resort." These include: *dishes - there's a note inside the kitchen that says the dishes have been "washed" but not sanitized.. wtf?! Like thanks for rinsing dishes and putting unsanitary utensils back in the drawers. That's sure normal.. not. You have to wash the dishes provided BEFORE using them. THEN they ask you to clean the kitchen up before departure and clean all dishes. Why do WE clean it? Isn't this a "resort?" *towels - they give you x amount of towels.. and also have a note that if you need more, you have to bring your own. How accommodating! *trash - you have to take out your own trash before you check out. Huh?! At a resort?! Ok. *linens - the bed linens are so sad. They're thin and old and i saw some strands of hair on the comforter. Barf. It's pretty pricey for what you get, and i wish they'd take it up a notch to make it worth something for guests. It felt like the owners have no idea about hospitality these days and charge guests way too much for the rentals, so much so that guests have to put in work themselves while on "vacation."
