I've never had a haircut before. I mean, I've had my hair cut, but never asked for any style advice or anything. So, feeling unusually flush and armed with a 50% off first time discount I took myself to the Bold St. after making an appointment. I arrived at exactly the right time to find a well-lit salon, I mean really well-lit. Big daylight-style lamps in two lines down the ceiling. I was instructed to wait on the couch by reception, where I was treated to a stylist (who would later turn out to be mine) was blow drying her own hair. So even though I'd arrived on time for my own appointment, I had to wait for the stylist to sort out her own hair.... in front of everyone. It wasn't busy, but surely that should be out of sight? After a few minutes I got a my hair washed and conditioned prior to being cut, this was fine. The stylist was friendly and explained what she was going to do, it turned out exactly how she said. All in all it looked like a pretty standard short back-and-sides. Nothing special at all. No-one has since made a comment about it to separate it from the fairly standard £5-worth I'd normally go for.
So, was it worth £44? no, it was discounted to £22, was it worth that? well I got a coffee and a wash/condition that I normally wouldn't, but that's not worth £17. All in all it might be a much better place if you've got fancy hair to begin with. If you want a short back and sides, I can't see the added value here. read more
