Went to a party in Ventura and the cake was so good. Was told it was from Vons. So I ordered a cake from the Nipomo Vons the following week for a family birthday and made the 20 min drive there to pick up. Ordered the cake with fresh strawberries as the filing. Unfortunately, they made it with the thinnest layer of the strawberry gel like filing. Cake was decent overall but definitely not as good as the one we had from another Vons which had the actual strawberries inside. I don't think they used the whipped cream frosting either. Would be nice to have your cake done as requested. read more

professional shopper speaking On November 4, 2025 about 6:30 PM I was shopping for an order There was some type of error with the scan so I had to use a regular card Well, I waited on the phone to rectify the situation which was less than five minutes The checker young Hispanic man closed the register he proceeded to tell me that the food that I shopped for was missing I think loss prevention should come on in with this just because when I went back there was nothing replaced from anyone taking it back to its The bagger cross contaminated the food when I finally did get through the line I asked him did he not know about this and he said he didn't care I told the black man that checked me out that I think the food went out with someone else That would have been fresh meat, chicken, and some produce along with some cheese The customer I was shopping for also said that they had issues with the store and I was the third shopper they dealt with today at least I got that order delivered I will be speaking with the store manager, Tim because this is absolutely unacceptable I just happen to be in the store when they order came up so it was convenient and a win-win for the customer and myself This kind of service is absolutely unacceptable and makes me not want to go back into that store again I believe in treating people right I was not in the store and think those kids should be fired immediately and not caring is a huge red flag. I'm a club member. Yet for some reason Von's is using "digital coupon" only deals... why? Why? Why not just mark it a dollar off for club members and be done. Instead you have to download another app, use their wifi and... still wouldn't scan. Von's worker even tried and it didn't work on my iPhone. Get rid of the stupid "digital coupon". All it did was drive me to write a 1 star review and NOT buy the groceries. For the most part the employees are great, but Von's has high prices and poor promotional ideas. read more

Deli Service is beyond rude. ( with the exception of a nice young man). But the young woman who works there is surly and looks like she is in pain all the time. The older lady ignores me when I am standing at the counter . Management .... How can this be changed ??? Amazing place for fresh food. The people are really kind. We lost a cellphone with picture id and credit card in the shop traveling from SF to LA. Passing by on our way back after few days we had no hope to find it but... Awsome! The shop Director preserved it for us even with no way to contact us (we were tourists from europe...). Unprofessional and unfriendly staff and management, overpriced food despite low quality produce and cheap generic items

Placed and paid for an online Rx order. When the order was shipped to me as requested the pharmacy recharged my credit card resulting in a duplicate billing. I contacted the pharmacy and Vons customer support and was told by both that they did not have the ability to correct their error. I am handicapped and have no other options but to use an online pharmacy but I would recommend NOT using Vons Rx if at all possible. read more

I needed a quick sandwich so I went to Vons Deli counter. I ordered a salami and Swiss sandwich on rye bread. What I received were a small bed of salami and three cut pieces of cheese to cover the salami. Guess I should have gone to Subway which is a few doors down! read more

I came to this vons 3 different times. Each time the meat dept hardly had any good cuts of meat out. Very bad. Guy in meat dept said they only have two people cutting meat and both have been gone so nobody to restock the shelves. I went across the street to grocery outlet and found great porterhouse steaks and had no problems. Do not shop this vons. I think they will go as soon as any kind of merger happens. But I have to blame management because they are responsible for store operations. Terrible!!! read more

The deli service at this store is horrific. i'm usually stopping on my way home from working a 12 plus hour shift ( SERVICE job) , and I hit the deli first. Today I stood there for 10 minutes waiting....no one acknowledges you meanwhile theres 4 clerks visible grouped together doing something in the back ( something other than waiting on customers ) reminiscent of the old " how many --- does it take to screw in a lightbulb joke. I have given these deli workers a pass one to many times for their poor service. Thank god I dont live in Nipomo! I feel for anyone that does and has to put up with such poor sevice. read more

They still haven't earned another star. The people who work there are mostly okay. My current beef is that they only have a few of the small carts, which are VERY popular, especially if you're short like me and rarely buy more than a few items at a time. I asked an employee why they never bring them up from around the lot and he said that they're harder to gather together than the larger ones so it's pretty much a policy to just leave them scattered around. Vons: please demonstrate some customer service and get more of the small carts!!! They still have that picture of beautiful sushi but at least they actually SELL sushi these days, although the quality is very poor. You want good grocery store sushi? Go to California Fresh Mkt. Almost restaurant quality. Avoid the meat section! Every time I cook w/ their beef, an amazing amount of water comes off of it. It's almost impossible to brown because so much liquid develops in the pan. What's up with that? You want good beef? Go to La Placita on Orchard or Central Market down in Oceano. They both have excellent meat markets in the back of the store with an amazing selection of cuts. read more

The choices in the deli section often look old and unappetizing, and there are not a lot of options as far as salads and side dishes go. The managers here have invariably been very helpful, as have most of the employees. Special kudos to the well informed produce people, who've more than once directed me to what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, that area is poorly designed and could do with an overhaul. I wish the overhead aisle signs were more accurate and not--as I recall--blue on white. Harder to read from a distance. The bread selection is very poor. NONE of the sandwich breads passes my gentle squish test. Only Brian's Cracked Wheat Sourdough comes close. This Von's needs a serious management overhaul. I wish the corporate offices would read the Yelp reviews, as the reviewers continuous complaining about the so-called managers is spot-on. "Joe" and the woman at the "Service (?)" counter are among the worst. I think the service person's name is Elaine, and it shocks me that she was chosen as the service counter manager, as she is so rude, and actually downright unknowledgeable about Von's policies. Additionally the store itself is often out of items and disorganized. I'd rather make the drive to Santa Maria or Grover Beach for a better shopping experience. read more

I highly recommend Vons Pharmacy. I recently lost my wife of 38 years to cancer and I'm disabled. Finding somebody to fill my prescriptions in a timely fashion and keeping me aware of the status of my medications as well as communications with the insurance company was very important and Vons Pharmacy in Nipomo California has made my life so much easier.The pharmacist, and all the staff work very well together, and always keep in touch with me. I have to give a five star to the management at the meat department and the liquor department! Remember folks there is a butcher that will cut you what ever you want. Take advantage of the digital coupons and stock up with some 2 1/2 thick steaks. The wine manger will order you up with as many cases of wine you want when it's on sale. Also the checkers and manager are some of the nicest people willing to help you out and point out the best sale items. I placed an order at the bakery to pick up a 12 count of cupcakes. My requests were white cake, buttercream frosting, and I wanted 3 orange frosting, 3 red, 3 green, and 3 blue. This is what I received instead. How is this any close to what I requested? I had a SEPARATE order for a 12ct cupcake cake with the writing happy birthday which came out great. It's as if they took my first order and just made another mini order which is not what I wanted whats so ever. When I commented that this was incorrect the lady in the baker said "oh well it was confusing there was a lot of writing on it" okay we'll if it's confusing my number is right there, call me (it took a while to place my order as the person who was taking it wasn't understanding what I was wanting but after he completed the order forms it looked promising). The worst management possible. Why do retail businesses hire anti-social, bad-tempered jerks as employees, let alone as managers? The manger of this Vons is nasty, ignorant, surly and lazy. His attitude is so bad that all the employees hate him. Today there were 10-customer-long lines at each of only three open registers, and the 4-register, self-service line was 20 deep. On the way out, I was buttonholed by an RN who told me that she had to drive to the store six times today to try to pick up her patient's medications, because the pharmacy staff is so nasty, ignorant, surly and lazy. Guess they imprinted on the store manager, who must conduct classes on how to ignore and mistreat customers. Sadly, because customers are treated so poorly, many customers treat the employees poorly, so there's a management-caused doom loop. Employees leave their re-stocking carts in the middle of aisles, and they actually push past customers without so much as a glance, let alone an apology. Reviewers who praise the cleanliness of the store aren't looking very closely. We all hope that when the merger goes through, the mega-corporation will sell this store or at least get rid of the manager and his lame assistants. read more

There isn't a single thing there that's healthy, not even the fruit. The vegetables are okay, but everything else being sold is garbage. The service is good, but the Manager is clearly a bit rude. I walked a mile to apply for a job there, and she told me I had to apply using the site. So I was like "okay, whatever then". I went back home and used the site, but the entire page was so incredibly inconvenient, filled with BS, and had so many unnecessary additional things, I couldn't get a grasp on what the site even wanted. I don't need a frickin' ROBOT to stand in my way every time I need to get a job! Now I'd rather prick each of my fingers with a sewing needle than ever work for such an intentionally inconvenient company. read more

Horrible place to shop at night. The stocking over night crew or whatever they are will literally run into you and make you move so they can put something down. I find it completely rude and unprofessional that they don't look out for the customer. The customer should never have to yield for the staff. The staff should always yield and look out for the customers. If you do shop here around the night hour (before 12pm) look out for the stock crew they will run you over. You've been warned! VONS retrain your crew about being courteous to your customers and looking out for they're safety when your minions try to bulldoze them down to set some food in the aisle way. read more

This is for Von's Deli: I buy wonderful Hot Pastrami Sandwiches Hand Made! I have been buying here for last couple years. My favorite is Hot Pastrami on Sliced Sourdough bread. I order the Pastrami w provolone cheese. sliced Sourdough bread w onions (fried in oven), then add: Lettice, tomato, dill pickles, pepperoncini, mustard, mayo for $6 approx. I can pay for it right at the Deli counter. Be sure and ask for Norma Jean. She makes the best sandwiches! read more

Vons cakes are delicious but it's always hit or miss when it comes to the decorating. I went in to pick up a cake for my mom and sister and asked the guy in the bakery if he could write on it. Nothing crazy just "Happy Birthday, Mom and Erica." Well, the flowers on the cake already were weird looking and the writing looks like it was done by a 5 year old. If you don't know how to write on a cake, please just say so. I would have made icing and wrote it myself. read more

The value and price comparison varies. If just looking at the signature select brand, the cons owned brand, it's groceries are generously worth their value. But groceries with name brands are overpriced. When looking at toll house cookie dough, $4.99 may seem like a great deal, but if you go into Walmart for the same exact cookie dough size and roll, the price is $2.99 less than vons. However, all of their workers continue to practice the best customer service that a grocery store can offer. Amazing baked goods and great deli selection. read more

I walked into Vons this afternoon and Wow factor. They an array of flowers at the store entrance and the floral area it looked so beautiful, festive and inviting. I went in for a few items the store seemed fully stocked, clean and there were at least 6 checkout lines open A BiG Plus. The store was really busy so 6 checkout lines open made for a pleasant exit. The checkout person he was very friendly. This was a far better experience then in times past. read more

I bought four 12 packs of Coke along with other grocies. I had the Coke in my shopping cart with the bar code facing up so the cashier only needed to scan the item and leave the Coke in the cart. I didn't notice but while I was processing my debit card, they put two of the 12 packs of Coke on the rack below the cart. As I walked out of the store to my car, one of the 12 packs got jolted off the cart by the yellow tactile strips, bursting several of the cans causing a geyser effect, Coke sprouting out everywhere and even on to me (yuck, sticky). I went back into Vons only to have one of the cashiers hollering at me "you're making a mess!" Like I didn't know that. The manager at the customer service desk replaced the 12 pack of Coke. On the way out, still angry (and sticky) of the insensitivity of the cashier, I let her know I didn't appreciate her comments. You know what she said then - loudly "get over it!" I thought an apology would have probably been more appropriate. This is not my first run in with terrible customer service at the Nipomo Vons store. I like Vons and try to shop at the Vons in San Luis Obispo, but it is not convenient since I live in Nipomo. read more

TERRIBLE. They are the only super market in town, and they act like it. The deli is the WORST! They NEVER have enough people working, and the ones who are there are rude and incompetent. Every. Single. Time. A couple of the checkers are nice, but they chatter to each other WAY too much while they are working, and make everyone in line wait for them to finish their convo about how much it sucks to work there. When you find a grocery store that is so neat clean well-stocked orderly and almost to the level of beautiful inside It's Time to Say Something. So even though I resist giving ratings for anything that is a chain, I must speak up and say this store is really nice and with a little Starbucks inside a that's pretty good. Now it can be a little tricky getting out of the lot if you need to turn left on the on the Main Street. But you'll figure it out you're pretty smart.
