Finally, I found Ultra Design Center buried on page 2 or 3 on my fifth attempt. I visited them immediately and am so glad I did. They offer a range of european and some american offerings that cost a little more than Lowe's, but with a huge selection, and cleaner, smarter designs. Stuff that Lowe's might carry in 5-10 years. The prices are 20% higher, but well worth it imo, because most of the choices from the big box stores were made in china. Bring your contractor or your plumber's business card to receive their contractor's discount. After receiving that discount my prices compared favorably with anything I found online. My salesperson Kris, helped me choose each and every item I needed to remodel two bathrooms. She was super helpful. It took two appointments to complete. This was during covid. The shipping is supposed to take 3-5 weeks, so shop early.

They also offer wellness products like saunas and steam, all under one roof. I incorporated several of Ultra's light fixtures into a showroom I recently designed, and they were absolute standouts. The quality, aesthetic, and pricing are exceptional, and having the ability to see so many of their products installed throughout the IDC building gives designers such a helpful "real-world" perspective. This was a very nice collaborative process, where we talked about appropriate overhangs, and how to deal with window trim that might be in the way. Templating took all 20 minutes. Within a week, we had the countertops installed, and sink mounted. They were very considerate to ask us about noise levels, since they knew we had a toddler that napped around the install time. Install was less than an hour, and it looks perfect! Just all around very professional and wonderful folks.

As such I took Thursday, April 2 off from work to make sure that I was available to receive my order in person once I was notified of the actual day of delivery which they never did. That Thursday I contacted Denver City Furniture to find out the status of the delivery of the mattress to my new location where I was moving. They contacted the shipper, presumably FedEx and they were notified that the mattress had been dropped off on Wednesday, April 1. This means that I took a day of PTO for no reason and my mattress was sitting outside possibly available for porch pirates and I was none the wiser. In attempting to get compensated for the monetary equivalent to my loss of a PTO day, I was given a $100 credit to the store which basically covers one goddamn pillow. Despite my frequent pleas for compensation that at the very least matched the monetary equivalent to my lost day of personal time off, I was stonewalled. This is a slap in the face and the message being sent is that my time my frustration and their lack of ability to effectively communicate logistics is only worth less than half of a day pay for me that I am now out. Suffice to say Ashley furniture, and Denver city furniture will not be getting any additional business from me. To be fair, Mark, the sales guy was a peach. Unfortunately though they'll never get my business again and I will be reporting Ashley furniture to the Better Business Bureau because they suck balls. Of course I contacted Ashley corporate and they were zero help and told me I needed to contact city furniture for any help with this. So in predictable form, one entity is pointing fingers at another entity, saying they need to take care of it. Meaning it's a vortex of lousy service.
