Please! spare yourself from the agony people, I want to update my review for Vol Repairs or should I say "Ramon's Vol Ripoff's." I Still haven't recovered my reimbursement from court. After the extra time and money I spent on pleading my case to now writing this review it's been over 4years. I drive by the old location on Clairmont and Briarcliff and think What a nightmare the whole situation was. I don't want anyone to fall vulnerable to the over charging and under qualified service that I have. Especially when it's Ramon talking his mechanic lingo to empress.You think he's going to do a great job only I found someone else doing the work that's not being supervised and are under qualified for the job. My last post was about two headlights needing replaced and only one was replaced In hindsight I can laugh now because Ramon feels legitimized even after A Judge has ruled that his ethics are dishonest. Ramon is great. I've been taking my Volvo (XC-90) here for about 6 years. They are honest and will give you a good price. Do not expect a fancy waiting area or a computerized system, they are totally old school! I usually drop my car off in the morning and get it back late in the afternoon or the next day. They really know Volvos and will not rip you off like the dealership, especially if you have an older car. Volvo mechanics are very specialized, don't try to bring yours just anywhere! read more

I was very angry with ramone for about two months bc i felt like they had screwed me over because of poor quality work but i will say that although i still blame ramone and his colleagues for not fixing my car fully he definitely did a valve job cheaper than probably anywhere else although it happened as a result of a broken serpentine belt not long after having my alternator replaced. i dont hate you ramone i am just angry you didnt replace my belts When that was the cause of the problem. read more

i have been going to this shop for over 20 years and i am so disappointed with the service i spent 16 hundred i less than a month i have had car damage and dirt and coffee wasted on floor mats my radiator was busted and they tried to put some cement on it after i picked it up a week later it was water coming out of it the work that goes on in the shop has change for i am so angry that the dealership verified the cheap cover up work they did read more

OK, so I no longer own my sweet 1989 Volvo 240 but I wanted to write a review for Vol Repair because for years they provided Gwyneth (my Volvo) and I with wonderful and honest service. I was referred to Vol Repair by a friend of a friend. He told me "ask for Ramone". I was skeptical that any mechanic could be as good as this guy said Ramone was but I called and made an appt for my newly purchased classic 240 to get checked out. Ramone took a look and called me with an estimate. The cost was about what I expected so I told him to go ahead and make the repairs. The day after I got my car back, she just wouldn't crank. I was livid at first. I called Ramone on his cell phone because it was after-hours. He was at a family BBQ but never the less he asked me to describe the problem. He told me step by step what to check for. It turned out that a fuse was in the process of going bad. He told me to unplug it and wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. IT WORKED!! He said that I needed to come by to get a new fuse but that the little trick he taught me would work for a few more days. The fuse was less than $50. A couple years later I hit a major pot hole. I took Gwyneth to a repair place closer to my office. They quoted me $1100! I told them that I would take her to her normal mechanic since the repair was much more serious than I initially thought. Ramone quoted me $800 and when I asked him about one of the repairs the other place estimated he said that the repair was not needed because the part wasn't even broken. I won't be going there anymore because I have a new Honda Element now and Ramone only works on Volvos and Saabs. When I found my little Volvo a new home, I told her new owner about Ramone. Hopefully Gwyneth is still going there at least. If you own a Volvo or a Saab, go to Vol Repair! They will take good care of you! read more

This was a complete waste of time and Ramon is a liar. Ramon took 3 weeks to do a job of replacing a broken bolt for a water pump that should of taken a few hours plus he was suppose to fix the convertible top and told me after the 3 weeks that he didn't have it done. He also flat out lied to me about ordering a part and saying it was in route for over another 2 weeks. Finally after 12 phone calls he said that he can get the part for my window he said it was quite expensive and would take a few more days to get it. This is not a way to run a business and I would never recommend him to do any work for myself or anyone I know. After taking my car to the Dyer&Dyer Volvo for two years, and spending close to $5k in repairs, I was told that I needed new CV Boots my CV Axle was leaking and I needed an alignment. I decided to get a second opinion at Vol Repairs, having been there once or twice before. Ramon and his team thoroughly inspected my car and told me that I just needed to get new cv boots - at a cost around $370, whereas Dyer & Dyer quoted me $1800!! I'm still in shock, as I wonder how much of the $5000 I had spent there (between two cars) was actually necessary. I'll be taking my car to Vol Repairs from now on! read more

These guys have worked on my Saab a few times now, and while not all the repairs have gone smoothly, I will say that it's nice to leave a repair shop feeling like you've paid a fair price. It's a family business that looks like they've been in the same location for a super-long time, which is a good sign for future repair work. What I am upset about is the fact that I read all the awesome yelp reviews, and went ahead and went to this place because it was close to were my Volvo's water hose broke. Even though when we dropped off our car to the place it was so packed with so many cars it looked like a junkyard honestly. - I thought I was leaving my car in good hands. I asked them that they do a full inspection and that they give me an estimate on how much it costs to fix the things which need fixing, and what is urgent and what can wait. I based on what took place I do not feel I could trust him. I don't like what job he did. My dad was a mechanic and I have worked on cars with my dad growing. So I know how to "feel" a car. -So obviously the hose was urgent since it was a huge hole in the hose and water was just pouring down. I didn't want to keep driving it and risk burning the engine. But I wanted them to give me the price of how much it costs to fix it before they actually fix it. They did not. They went ahead and fixed it without me okaying that, or giving me the price ahead of time! This is the only car me and my husband have and we dropped it off Monday, and he said he would call us the next day and he never did. So we called him and he said would call us back. basically after 3 days we finally got an estimate (3 days when thats the only car you have to get you from A to B and an inspection should take an hour or so. And he gave us a ridiculous estimate and list of 7 things that need repairing. Here's what upset me.. I feel that I cannot trust this mechanic: He said over the phone that the inspection will be $50.00 but it will be waived if i do the work with them. Than on the day we went to pick it up he said the inspection is $85. He told us to fix the hose was $190.The part at autozone costs 20 bucks! how could labor and coolant be 170!!!? He claimed he uses quality parts. That his house was $61. Even though I head him talking to a customer ahead of me about getting pieces from a junkyard. Sorry but anything from a junkyard is not worth 61 bucks. We go there to pick up the car and we said we are not doing the work through them. He said he already started fixing the hose... we didn't ask them to fix the hose! we asked for an estimate. I asked him, who gets things fixed before knowing the price?!! thats what upset me. LASTLY, in the process of fixing the water hose, the punctured an air hose, and they said nothing about it until my husband pointed it out that it looked like something was missing from the car! and so they put one from another that the got. Honestly makes me paranoid if they did anything else to me car since it took them 3 days to give me a freakin estimate and they did work on it without my permission AND my car does not feel the same way. I looked at it and saw that the acceleration cables were loose, they car can't even reach 3 Rpms... STAY away from this place! read more

I had three impressions here: First: The guys really know what they are doing. I had a huge problem with my brake system and they fixed it, even got me a free check in after a month. Before every job they called me and asked if they should really do it. Always offering used and new parts to the "get it in one day" fair market value. I always double checked the prices with two or three part-dealers in the area and they'll give you a good price. But just if you need the item right now. On the internet some items can be much much cheaper and even be better. Second: This garage is much cheaper than comparible Volvo experts as a Dealership or Braxton. Braxton gave me a 700 dollar bill. I called in at Ramone and he told me he'd do it for 450 and would know some body who could tow my car for an other 70. still 180 Dollars cheaper. Third: Small things can be pretty expensive here. If you are able to do some things on your own and are a bit handy, just do them. I called in for the exchange of a blower motor, which takes you half an hour!! They wanted to charge me 150$ if I bring in the motor. That's hard, especially if you compare it to non-Volvo garages. Always think if your problem is really Volvo specific, before you come here. Endresult: Maybe one of the best Volvo Experts in Atlanta! They know their stuff and get you good parts for a good price within one day. It's a nice family business and you'll feel welcomed by everybody here. But always double-check if the price is really worth doing it. read more

They don't deserve any stars. One problem, three different diagnosis, repairs and charges ($3K). Each time Ramone assuring me that he had personally driven the vehicle and it was fixed. Each time the problem reappeared before I made it home. To add insult to injury on the third try he informed me that my air suspension compression had failed while in his shop. More money. I took it to another mechanic and he showed me a video to demonstrate my problem. Within 24 hours my car was repaired. Now for the kicker. My new mechanic informed me that the work I was charged for was never done. He had me come back to his shop to show me the parts that were never replaced. I took pictures and am pursuing this further. Georgia State Law says that auto repair shops must provide written quotes for repairs over $50 and an estimated time for repair. Vol Repairs does not follow this law. read more

I discovered Vol-Repairs about 8 years ago when I had a Volkswagon Cabrio. The dealership wanted to charge me $2500 to repair the convertible top. Vol-Repairs quoted me $500 and fixed it perfectly. A good sign of a thriving mechanic is to see a parking lot jam packed with cars. That's what you will see at Vol-Repairs. The owner, Ramon, answers the phone and talks through your car trouble. He has even helped me try to resolve a problem without coming in. He is great at what he does, honest about what needs to be fixed now vs. what can wait a little while and he goes out of his way to give the best possible service. I trust Ramon 100% and will never look to another mechanic. Vol-Repairs now is my go-to repair shop for my Volvo and Toyota. They truly can fix anything and I will continue supporting this business with my car service needs. read more

If I could give his place a lower rating I would. My car didn't have any oil pressure in it and I couldn't travel all the way to my regular mechanic (who is 30 miles away). I took it to Vol Repair shop for fixing and he said that he would keep it overnight and call me in an hour to tell me exactly what the problem was. He called me and said that the estimate was going to be between $400-$800 but he would call me the next morning to let me know what was truly wrong with the car before fixing it. I never was called so I had to call the next day. Ramon said that he had already fixed my car (without permission) and it was going to cost $710. I told him that I could pick up the car tomorrow because I am a college student who did not have the funds to pay. I called my old mechanic and he said that the job normally would be between $150-$250. I arrived and told him to put all the old parts back on the car and I just was going to get a tow to my regular mechanic. He said that he was still going to charge me $225 for a diagnostic. He refused to allow me to pay with a card (even though I watched two other customers pay) and didn't give me a receipt. He told me the car would be ready the next day at 10am sharp.I picked up my car the next day and had AAA come. Ramon had even put the old parts back on my car when I arrived and wouldn't let me take my car without signing an Indemnity agreement and wouldn't let me have a receipt. Ultimately I am very disappointed with this shop because they took advantage of me and my lack of knowledge with cars. I advise you to never spend your money at this shop because you are going to be paying a lot more than the job is actually worth. read more

I took my Volvo here for my 75,000 mile check up after reading reviews on Yelp and they were $250+ cheaper than going to the Volvo dealership. When I went to pick up my car they said I needed a new front right strut and a wheel baring, which would cost me $650. I called the dealership to compare and they were charging $700 for the parts alone then another $700 for labor. I obviously took my car back to Volvo-vol to get the work done, when I went to pick it up Ramon said he had good news. They were able to fix the strut after they got inside the car and had a better look at it, so I ended up walking out paying only $380. I was shocked at their honesty and so happy, it made my day! All in all I saved at least $1000. This will be the only place I take my car as long as I have it! Thanks Ramon! read more

I was originally quoted approx. $800 worth of work from the dealership. I called to get a quote on the scope of work the dealership was quoting and got approx $575 from Vol-Repairs. While this is still sticker shock but still MUCH better. Upon them actually taking a look at the car found out the scope of work ended up being $185 (parts/labor)!!! The dealership was phishing for money!! Ramon will now see my car for regular maintenance as long as I live in Atlanta. He even told me how to handle a separate issue with my car. I went here with my 94 Volvo 850 wagon two years ago with what i was worried was a failing transmission. Ramon recommended a transmission flush, which I paid for, but continued to have issues with acceleration out of first gear. Ramon quoted me a full new transmission and I freaked. Just to be on the safe side, I went ahead and had my usual mechanic look at it. PNP switch needed to be replaced. $200 later I was on my way. Car works great. Thanks Munich West!! Stay away from this shop!!!...You have been warned!!!..I like to give advice to everyone for shops to avoid!!!!.....I took my Volvo 850 in for repairs, because it was running rough. The prices seemed reasonable, so I gave them a try. I picked my car up after 3 days, drove it off the lot, and made it approximately one mile, and it started to run rough once again. I turned around and made it back to the shop. Ramon Jr., said he would take another look at my vehicle which turned out to be 3 weeks later. Once again I picked the car up, and it did the same thing. I had to get a tow from AAA. Ramon Jr., said the car needed additional parts, and he was trying to fix it cheaply. What?.....I left the car once again, the car sat for another month, I just got frustrated and went to pick the car up, and you would not believe it, my car was stripped for parts. Ramon Jr., told me.."Sue Me, it happens all the time, even my wife is divorcing me and trying to sue"!....What a loser, again stay away from this shop as well. The reason I am writing this review is that another co-worker just told me he stole parts off of his car as well when he went to pick up his vehicle. Used them for a few years while we owned a 98 Volvo. Always found them honest and helpful in saving repair costs where it made sense. The office and 'waiting area' are not that great but I guess by not spending on that space he can keep his costs lower. I'd rather save money than have a high end waiting room. I bought my car in for repairs at 8:30A.M Friday morning on April 12, 2013. I came back to check on my car at 3P.M that afternoon. They had not begun on my car but assured me that it would be finished before there shop closed. I went back up there again at 7P.M and the shop was closed with my car out of sight. They never gave me a courtesy call to inform me of keeping my car over night or the cost of the repairs. I picked up my car 2:00PM Saturday April 13, 2013 without it being repaired. I was told my parts were not going to be in until Monday, April 15th. Had I not gone up there today, they would have never called to inform me of wanting to keep my car over the weekend. Based on all the good reviews on here for Ramon I decided to take my car (09 Jetta) here for the first time in August 2014. The engine light was on and the codes read for a cylinder 1 misfire. I left the car with him and he called me a few hours later with what he thought the car needed. He said the car needed a new ignition coil and all the park plugs needed to be replaced. I approved and he charged me appx. $400 for the job. A day later the engine light came back on, I returned the car and Ramon said it takes a little while for the car's computer to recognize the new parts in the car. I believed him. He cleared the error codes and two days later the engine light came on again. I left the car then and return the following day and he said that the "ignition suppressor" needed to be replaced. He had already gone ahead and replaced it and he did not charge me for this service. I asked him if he think that changing the 'supressor" would have solved the problem, and Ramon shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know". At this point, I believe he was just throwing parts at the car and did not know exactly what the car needed to be fixed. On this day, it had been raining, and Ramon left my window down, and the entire driver side of the interior was wet from the rain. A day later, when trying to start the car, there was quite a bit of smoke coming out of the tailpipe and the engine light came back on. I decided not to return the car to Ramon. I carried the car to the VW dealership and they showed me that all the parts that he had put in were aftermarket products and that they were no good for the car. This was frustrating as days before Ramon confirmed that he had put genuine parts in the car. In addition, the receipt that I received that summarized the work he had done on the car,and the part numbers for the parts that he purchased and replaced in the car, corresponded to genuine VW parts, however VW confirmed that they were not genuine parts and they provided me with the parts that Ramon had placed in the car. I confronted Ramon about the parts he had placed in the car and he began to argue with me that the parts he had placed in the car (beru) were from Germany and in fact were tailored for VW Jetta. He then attempted to discredit the VW dealers finding that the parts they found were aftermarket products despite showing him the parts. He even went further to say the the VW genuine parts that VW provided to me as an example were not genuine, despite the VW logo on each part. Interestingly enough, the VW delearship replaced all the parts that Ramon had put in with genuine VW parts and it turned out to be cheaper that what Ramon had charged me for the same work with aftermarket parts. (His aftermarket parts were more expensive that VW genuine parts) I tried to settle this dispute by asking Ramon for a refund and he said no. After a few verbal arguments, he told me not to return and ever since I have been having the VW delearship perform all the repairs needed on my car. Ramon senior (Ramon's father), spoke little english, but expressed to me that he was going to try and talk his son (Ramon Jr) into coming to an agreement, but to no avail. This was a very bad experience. If you do used Ramon, it is in your best interest to have someone confirm the work he is doing. Please confirm that he is putting in genuine parts, if thats what you requested. I also suggested cross-checking the amount he charges youf or the parts with other distributors to see if his charge for a respective part is reasonable. I believe Ramon takes advantage of the population of people who aren't car savy and as such aren't interested in confirming the work that he has done to their cars. Maybe he is good with Volvos, but my experience with him with my VW Jetta 09 was a terrible one. Please avoid at all cost, or be willing to take a risk of being taken advantage of. read more

This family business us the epitome of professionalism and sound business ethics. I brought my 15 year old Volvo S70 to them to replace a head gasket. They gave me the estimate and went to work. Another leaking gasket was discovered along with a cracked hose, which only added an extra fifty dollars to the total! After dealing with Volvo stealerships over the years, this made a good impression. But what amazed me was, post work inspection, noticing that they had actually replaced a few minor parts under the hood as well! Not expensive, major components, but the kind I would never replace myself. They also cleaned the engine so well that it looks new again. Volvo owners: Stop throwing away your money at the dealership service. That fat 'salesman' that talked you into all those repairs is making a huge commission...that comes out of your pocket. I came to this place the day of the first ice storm this year. I needed my timing belt replaced on my 2002 volvo s60. I also got an oil change and my front bulb replaced. I am very satisfied with their service and my car is in proper driving condition. Ramon is soooo nice and he will be the only man I allow to do repairs on my volvo from now on. Their prices are EXTREMELY reasonable (almost 50% less than what the dealership was trying to charge me) and they use genuine volvo parts. Last August I took my 1994 850 in to have an oil leak checked at Dyers and Dyers Volvo. My daughter was leaving for college in PA. and i wanted to have the car in decent mechanical conditions. When I went to pick it up I was told by the shop manager that there was so much oil that they could not find it therefore no work was done to prevent the leak. My duaghter and I drove the car to PA and she kept it until Christmas break when I bought her a newer vehicle. I decided to sell the VOLVO and decided to get the leak fix. I happened to find this website and notice the great reviews. Last week I took my VOLVO in and they found and repaired the leak. I was so impressed at their professionalism and integrity that I will be writing Dyer and Dyer to suggest their mechanics train with VOLVO-VOL. I HIGHLY recommend using this business. I took my car to Ramone who took more than 2.5 weeks to fix it and never called to update me. When he finally said it was ready I picked it up and it was not fixed. He replaced some parts but not the parts that were affecting the shifting of gears, another mechanic confirmed there was no reason to replace the $1k in parts that he replaced, or maybe they could have been replaced but had nothing to do with the issue at hand.. I took my car back to Ramone and begged him to fix it correctly. He promised he would, I couldn't leave it that day, but said I would drop it off in two weeks. One week later, I noticed that my trunk was full of 6 covers to my engine. They let me leave and PAY for a broken car that they didn't even take the time to put the parts back on. I would never use Volvovol again. I've meet 3 other people since who have had similar situations. The sad thing is, this is my second time coming to him with a mechanical problem that he charged me for and didn't fix. read more
