I was shopping today with a friend of mine and wanted to know the price of a keychain that had no tag/sticker price and no hook with a price on it. so I went up to the two cashiers who weren't busy at that time, and asked nicely how much the item was. they both side eyed each other and one of them said "18.99" or whatever, I said okay and thanks even though the way they responded made me feel like they thought I was stupid for asking. I was very polite when inquiring as well (I could write exactly what I said as I remember), so if they say I wasn't they're lying. It's not like I asked if grass was green. Moving on, I put back my item because I didn't feel like buying it anymore after asking, and purchased a less expensive item. As I went to check out and handed them the item I wanted, one of the girls looks at the other one after seeing my item, scoffs and chuckles, and then scans it. They then bluntly asked me if I wanted a bag or receipt or whatever and I said no to both and waited for my friend to check out. They didn't treat my friend this way when she checked out after me, so I felt like I was personally profiled in some way, as this attitude was selective to me only, it seems. :/ I understand that customer service jobs can suck as I also work in customer service, but to the two girls; this isn't a high school musical movie, so drop the disney bully attitude, it's corny and embarrassing to witness. You work in a mall and I'm sorry your parents don't love you but that's not my problem. And sorry for making you do your job in your 8 hour shift of talking shit (yes I literally heard you, you're not slick). She's really tech savvy and informative, and I hope it's not offensive, but she was quick with everything on my phone, although she seems a bit older. So, I was impressed, and yes, it made the entire experience more pleasant. She also tried looking for a box for me, but I ended up buying a bag later. There was Pier One & there was Cost Plus - Pier One was the more corporate experience option. Then Cost Plus grew up. Some changes were immediate, some took a long time. I think it comes down to how I feel when I think of going there, specifically the one in Brea. This isn't a grocery store - why do we have to pay for bags? I'm buying bottles of wine & dishes, picture frames - if I buy dishes and home decor at Macy's, I'm not required to buy a bag. It was always part of my Christmas tradition to make Cost Plus my first stop for gifts - but a couple of Christmases ago, I bought a whole cart full of wine & food gifts. I was not allowed to take the cart to my car, I had to leave the cart in the store and trust that the employee helping me wouldn't be pulled away by time I brought my car around. And it was raining by the way. Once upon a time, the store would reward members with a $10.00 birthday gift. That got changed to a discount. So every once in a while I get a text message telling me about a promotion and I used to enjoy getting those messages. Now I just delete them.
