Amazing tour and so worth it! I would highly recommend this as a way to see the Volcano National Park vs. driving and struggling to find parking. Tylor was our tour guide and did an amazing job. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the park and had lots of interesting stories to share along the way. We were even lucky enough to see the volcano erupting that day so he was quick to take us straight there and gave us plenty of time to catch all the action. Definitely a highlight of our vacation! read more

Awesome! Can't remember the guides names but they were a very nice couple from Denver Co. They were organized, had a plan, coordinated things well, full of info on the island (especially the trees) and allowed us to go at our own pace. Definitely would recommend! But be aware that an e bike is a little tricky to drive and I say this as a healthy 22 year old! read more

We took the 3-hour e-bike tour with Byron and Derek. They were both fun, personable and knowledgable about the park and the history of the area. They provided a safety briefing on how to operate the bicycles. We quickly realized this is the most efficient manner to see all of the sites in the park. We rode past many cars waiting for parking spaces and proceeded directly to the attractions. We weren't sure what to expect given the cost of the tour but once the tour was completed we were convinced this was money well spent. We highly recommend this tour experience. read more

Awesome fun tour! Lots to see. Excellent and entertaining tour guide Derek. Would definitely highly recommend this company!

Like having our personal guide through the national park. Bill did a great job. Highly recommend this experience. Thank you!

What an amazing experience! This is the BEST excursion we have been on while on The Big Island. Highly recommend the big tire tour. The guides were awesome, knowledgeable and caring. The best time! read more

Bikes were in impeccable order! Flawless maintenance, and a breeze to ride in Hawaii Volcanoes NP! Recommendations: bring your own helmet, as the helmets provided by Volcano Ohana smelled beyond funky (they all need cleaning/sanitizing.) Also, we were told to return at a specific time, yet no one arrived for another 30 mins to give our bikes to (thus we lost precious daylight hours in November.) Nevertheless, the BIKES themselves were fantastic! read more

This was a one of a kind experience for me and my husband. We loved it all even with the small bit of rain we rode in on this tour. It was well worth riding in the rain to enjoy the whole tour. read more

Experiencing new areas on a bike is so efficient and enjoyable, and this ebike tour definitely was both. We did the 3hr tour and it was totally worth it, especially if you're only in the park for the day. Tylor and Nicole were our guides. They gave their little safety spiel, got us acquainted to the bikes, made sure we grabbed the provided water and snacks and off we went! I'd say for an average experienced bike rider, you'll be good. The bikes were in good condition, tires are "fat" and pretty stable. You start and end on a small rocky trail, but the majority of the ride is on the paved streets. My wife is pretty "vertically challenged" and their bikes are one-size fits all so she had a tough time trying to reach the ground for starts and stops. Luckily, she was a champ and the guides were very patient and genuinely caring. Can you drive through the park and save some cash, SURE. But romping around on ebikes and getting a little narrated tour from knowledgable guides is definitely better and, in my opinion, worth it. read more

Kaylon and Erik not only took us on a bike ride, but gave us great lessons on Hawaiian culture, history and geology. They were also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. What a great trip! read more

My husband and I are forever grateful for this experience. This was the best way to explore Volcanoes National Park, hands down. Especially with our incredible tour guide, Nicole. She is extremely knowledgeable in all that Volcanoes National Park has to offer - from volcanoes to native plants, animals and birds. This is a must if you are on the Big Island! read more

Great e-bike trip thru the rain forest tour to the crater. Super fun! Nicole and Tylor prioritized safety and were educated about the volcano. Highly recommend! read more

I'll write this review with the following caveats. I realize that 1) the company cannot control the weather; 2) the company cannot control the motorist, 3) the company says rain or shine. With that being said our experience was miserable due to rain, winds and 50 yard visibility. We did not feel safe due to the conditions. There were many times you couldn't see the riders ahead of us. The roads were slick, the brakes very wet. Motorists zigging in and out between our group. I believe a responsible company would not put guests in these conditions. But not this company. Additionally we've been on many bike rides that provide gear to help with sub optimal conditions, including companies on Haleakala. With rain being prevalent for this area, seems like providing gear to help your guests would be appropriate if your policy is rain or shine But not this company. They were happy to sell you stuff. The only good thing about this was the guide. He made the most of a bad situation. But he was all rain geared up. So he knew what was coming. But the company just banking dollars with little to no care for guests. If you're going to do a ride like this I'd suggest going only when conditions are forecasted to be optimal or a company that actually cares about giving the guests they are paying for in a safe manner. That's not this company. read more

We had a fantastic experience with Volcano Ohana! Kaylon was our guide through the national park on the E-bikes and he was stellar! His knowledge of the park, mixed with his engaging anecdotes, and quirky humor made the tour fly by (in a good way!). We participated in this tour after a week of being in Hawaii, and we can safely say it was the best excursion we went on. Thanks to Volcano Ohana and Kaylon for the memorable experience! read more

Our family of 4 had a great experience with Kalin. He was so informative and really took the time to explain the history behind the volcanoes. read more

If you have no experience riding g an e bike I would not recommend this tour- I was concerned about that and did check with the company before signing up for this tour and was assured that riding an e bike was just like riding a regular bike - it is not and there is very little time to get used to riding the bike - in addition I injured myself and the guide was more concerned with keeping the bikes safe than my physical condition - overall even before my injury I found the guide impatient and not caring about how the group was managing and acting as if guiding us was a burden to get through- would definitely not recommend if you haven't been on an e bike since there is not much time to learn and the guide was less than helpful and uncaring about the experience/safety of the group read more

The four of us agree, our favorite tour so far in the Hawaiian islands. The guide was excellent, Kaylon so helpful, and the ride simply AMAZING. The bikes are high-quality and well maintained. We have done several E bike tours in many locations and we think that this one now surpasses the last one we did in Montenegro. Learned so much about volcanic activity and the flora and Fana of the region. It didn't hurt that the weather cooperated And we didn't have rain until the very end. Highly recommend this tour. read more

My husband and I went out with Tylor this weekend and had a fantastic trip. Yes the bikes are heavy - they are fat tire e-bikes and made to handle gravel, etc. Literally this is what you sign up for on this tour! There are plenty of disclaimers about having some experience riding a bike - that you sign off on before ever getting on the bike. After a short lesson on the e-bike, off we went and explored the park in a significantly efficient manner. Tylor was informative and adaptive to our group. We learned about the rainforest, the culture, and the history of the area. We walked in the Thurston Lava Tube, and viewed Kīlauea from different vantage points. If you want a fun and quick way to catch the highlights on the upper part of the park without having to worry about parking, this is your ticket! Highly recommend! read more

I would not recommend this tour unless you are adept at riding a motorcycle. These are heavy, powerful e-bikes and they can easily get out of control. We attempted this tour but, early in the tour, we crashed and sustained injuries to the extent that I had to go to the local ER. Since it happened near the beginning of the tour, I requested at least a partial refund of what we had paid. They have refused to refund anything. read more

Awesome experience-bikes we're super easy to use, guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and your was great overall. Definitely recommend.

Amazing experience! We had a great time and learned so much from our guide Kaylon. We are experienced pedal assist e-bike riders so for us it was an easy transition to the fat tire bikes. Our guide Kaylon met us at a predefined pin drop just outside the volcano National park. Our bikes were ready to go, and after the usual safety and operation instructions we zipped in the park and started at the visitor center. We then went on different spots around the caldera of the Kilauea volcano while getting a excellent briefing and history of the volcano and the recent changes. We got off our bikes several times as we stopped by at various view points and even went inside a long lava tube (on foot). Our tour was over 3+ hrs long and we rode thru the rain forest. Highly recommend! read more

WOW this tour doesn't disappoint! Byron was excellent to book the tour directly. Andres and Phil were amazing guides for the tour. This was SO MUCH FUN! And the BEST way to see the park. We were on the fence at first due to the price, and SO GLAD we did it! Plenty of stops for restrooms, sight seeing, pictures, history, they provided snacks and we brought our lunch. Go at your own pace. We were a group of 6 and a few of us enjoyed the snails pace to take in the sights with Phil and few of us FLEW through some spots on the tour with Andres that were made for adrenaline junkies like me. Don't miss this tour! read more

The guides were knowledgeable and focused on both safety and enjoyment. The e-bikes were amazing and it eas a great way to see the park!

Volcano National Park is a hiking location. There are many hikes through the woods and into the volcano areas. There are no bike trails. If you ride e-bikes on the Fat Tire E-Bike Tour to the park you do not have the opportunity to do any of the hikes. You will be biking on the road in the same lane as the cars. Entry to the park is only $30 per car load of persons and well worth exploring on your own. The bikes are heavy and one size fits all despite representations as to size accommodation. Don't waste your money on this misleading tour. read more

Wow!!! THE BEST WAY to visit the volcanos with the BEST COMPANY! Byron and André were amazing tout host. They sent us clear instructions with exact drop pin location. Upon arrival we saw a trailer with all the bikes already lined up. These are exceptional bikes, top of the line and very clean. They are super well equipped with bike pack mounted on each bikes and nice clean helmet. The tour is 3 hours and it felt like we were gone for 15 min. They gave us water and snacks upon arrival. We stop the entire tour and have real explanation of the volcanos, they definitely know their history!!! They are both very good story tellers!! Their price is fair, very good value what what we got. The service was amazing always asking us how we are doing. They had one guide at the front and one closing the ride. They even brought binocular to show us the red burning lava. I have also to point out that they are extremely safe! They have very good communication and they are fun host! I'll be back again and will take their other tours offering for sure. read more

Will not recommend their private guided tour of the big island that they advertise. We recently took the tour and were very disappointed. The tour guide they send was a very nice retired person from the mainland who had been living on the island for only few years. Even though he was very nice personable with all the good intention but obviously not a tour guide who knew how to conduct a tour. He had no plan or agenda for the day and asked us what we wanted to do. Obviously we would except a company to have some plan or agenda when they are charging us such a premium price for " private guided tour ". Our tour guide was no more than highly paid Uber driver who told us everything about how he was spending his retired life on the island but nothing about the history and geography of the big island. read more

We had an amazing time on our tour. Such a great way to see the park. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Will do it again!!

My husband and I had looked forward to the E-bike activity as a highlight of our vacation, however, I was the victim of a very unprofessional business practice involving the owner of this business. After being personally flexible with the owner of this business and changing the date of my reservation on very short notice, it turned out that my husband experienced an unexpected medical condition right at the start of the activity on the new date and was unable to go on the ride. I did go on the ride. I called Heather Tate, the owner, the next business day and requested a refund for my husband's portion ($200). She flat out refused, essentially saying that "a contract is a contract", despite the fact that there were at least 20 individuals in the group that day. As a person, she showed absolutely no sympathy or compassion for my husband's unexpected medical condition, and said I was disrespecting her business by even asking for a refund. Again, this is after I compromised the day before by altering my plans so her business would not have unnecessary expense. Due to the severe lack of kindness and understanding exhibited by this organization (I could be harsher), I would suggest folks stay away from this business. I was highly impressed with the activity overall, though, and would have given it 5 stars had the unfortunate incident above not occurred. read more

Safe and efficient way to tour Volcan NP. We met Kaylon, our guide but an entrance area to the park. After a brief information session, we were provided with water and snacks and a helmet. We spent 3 hours touring the park with several stops. The e bikes were easy to get the hang of and very fun way to zip around and explore the park. Kaylon had binoculars for us to see the eruption of Kilauea much better. We made a stop to see the lava tube and biked to several viewpoints of Kilauea. This is a fabulous most do experience while visiting the park. read more

With the recent eruption at Kīlauea, I know this is a great time to try a bike tour in the park. Before you pick these guys, let me share my experience. Recently the manager of this company, Arthur, approached me and asked me to distribute flyers for him for this business. He spoke at great length about the business, but soon his demeanor became really weird. He started saying that he doesn't think e-bikes should be allowed in Volcano Park at all, but since they are, he and this company wanted to make money off of it. I calmly and respectfully asked him to tell me about the use of Hawaiian language in the business name and on the flyer, as it's an issue I've been exploring. He got extremely defensive and started yelling and calling me names and accusing me. He sarcastically shouted at me that I'm "a real social justice warrior, huh?" It was completely unexpected and really strange, especially since he's not even the owner of the company (he mentioned the owners moved here and made their money in real estate development). He basically revealed that this company is only concerned with making a profit, regardless of how it affects the environment or host culture. There are plenty of other groups offering tours! Check out Bike Volcano! read more

This is a wonderful way to see Volcano National Park. We would have preferred more riding and less stoping to get the tour talking points. The bikes are great with a little bag to stow belongings and warm clothes and water which they provide. We gave them 4 stars because we felt there 12 miles of riding was too little but we love ebiking and routinely explore 26 miles at a stretch. They really do mean rain or shine so bring a good rain jacket and some layers. We had a lot of fun and strongly recommend Volcano Ohana. read more
