They definitely make an outstanding Americano and for only a 1.50! While I was at the counter I overheard the locals talking about planting trees and high school sports. The shop owner asked me if I was from around here and when I said I was from Oklahoma, he told me about his trip down Route 66. Eventually, I told him I was a poet doing shows in the area and he got on the computer right then and ordered my books for the store! I snagged a book while I was there and left with my morning dose of small town charm. FYI, Dixon is Ronald Reagon's hometown + has a really pretty arch going into downtown. I told her I once had a premium account but I thought it had lapsed and I might need to renew. She asked which kind of membership I had and I told her I wasn't sure. She told me I had to know or she couldn't process it. She entered my phone number and rang up the order as a basic membership. I let it go and shopped there a few more times without being asked which type of membership I had. Last Friday, I was waiting to check out, and the woman ahead of me was asked for her phone number to enter for rewards. When I checked out, I wasn't asked so I asked the clerk if she didn't want to enter my phone number for rewards. She was generally kind of rude but did enter the numbee and didn't ask about a membership type. When I got out to my car, I logged into my account. It indicated that I had a basic membership but listed the differences between the basic and premium and allowed me to upgrade. I upgraded without incident. I think the staff should know how to access the membership type and should be able to upgrade for you if you are willing to pay the cost of a premium account. The staff on the floor seem nice and helpful but checking out could be a more pleasant experience.

I love this bookstore. This is an "old school" used bookstore. It reminds me of bookstores I used to visit 25 years ago, the kind you can no longer find in the age of HPB. Still, they have an awful lot of books packed into a small space, and the proprietor - a retired professor who's just looking to break even - is very helpful. He'll help you find what you're looking for, and if you're interested in something there isn't much demand for - such as books in French - he may be able, if you call ahead, to grab some out of storage for you. That begins with Sheila and her dog Buster, as they specialize in books but elevate the whole experience with personality. I went inside for an atlas, and discovered a great place! A Chicago native, Sheila is a treat. She knows her store and her town, and is helpful as can be. Kind, aware, and vibrant, what a fun person.

This is a lovely, welcoming space with a terrific selection of books, including a wealth of children's titles. They also have a great selection of gifts, featuring a number of local artists and other small businesses. The upstairs has comfy seating to stay for a while, a nice selection of games and art, and a neat playspace for kids. We were also delighted by their chicken run - you can peek into their tastefully appointed space through a window in the back room. This is definitely a keeper on our rambles up toward Madison. I look forward to checking out their events and stopping back in!

don't pre-order books from them if you want to get them, Or want to get them with as much hassle as…read morepossible. pre-odered a book over a month in advanc, the release date came and went with no notice of book being shipped, called got told well the wear house has them but they take their time it'll ship when they want to and it is what it is. waited a few days still hadn't received any news on when it'd ship, went to the local store and talked to a manager who while helpful also got stonewalled and misinformation she was told that the book was on back order and it would ship when it was restocked, I told her to just cancel the order and she was informed that the order would not be canceled and would be held until the publisher didn't send more books.. with no timeline on when that could be. I was in the store for an hour trying to get this fixed. With no fix in sight I left with the manager saying she'd have them email me with the ultimate solution. They emailed alright with multiple emails saying everything they'd just said and then pulled the money for the book from my bank. At least I no longer had a pending hold on the money. And then the next day they said the book had shipped. it was never on back order, they just had it and didn't want to do their job until they had to when told they couldn't just hold someone's money in limbo. I had ordered the book from Amazon as I left the store when they said it was on back order and no timeline on when they'd ship, got it for less and it was shipped that day. No extra drama needed. To say that when bams book comes in it will be returned for the refund should go without saying. And I'm absolutely positive that getting the money from the refund will be as much of a hassle as just getting the book shipped was. I for one will never order a book from them again. But we have other book stores in the area to use too so it's not hard to say I might not ever even give them any business just because of how only 1 person in the organization seems to have customer service skills. To be clear, if they would have communicated in the first place and just done their job at the wear house in a timely manner they wouldn't look like trash scammer.
