We just had our appointment this past Wednesday with Dr. Thiessen, and he was absolutely amazing! The whole staff is super friendly and easy to talk to. I was worried my son would have a freak out with having lights shined in his eyes but Dr. Thiessen was so awesome with him and was able to keep him calm and happy. He was so informative and easy to talk to and discuss any concerns I have for myself or my son. The nurse helping me pick new glasses was so fun to deal with, gave me so many options and opinons on what looked good. When I was finished and bought my new glasses they told me it would be about 2 weeks... they called me 2 days after my appointment to tell me they are ready! Such a quick turn around! I am so beyond pleased with our experience with this Optomerty Clinic, I actually look forward to my future appointments with them :) Thanks Edinburgh Optomerty!

They were completely booked but Dr MacNeill was able to squeeze me in. It turns out I have an eye infection and my contact lens was scratched as well. She provided me with drops, home treatment supplies and advice and a new temporary lens until I get home to see my regular doctor. The entire staff was extremely professional, friendly, responsive and took great care of me. Very grateful for their help. If you are looking for an optometrist, look no further!

(Although I am in favour of the government ensuring pay equity for Canadian optometrists, I believe the job action was an unprofessional choice which only impacted patients and had no impact on government.). Covid also had prevented me from seeking an appointment prior to vaccines coming available. Because of these delays, I was overdue for an eye exam and my glasses were becoming scratched and coatings flaking off. I could not even get a replacement pair because my last prescription was over 2 years old. Once the job action was suspended I phoned for an appointment and was told I would need to go on a waiting list. I was initially OK with this as I suspected there would be some delay. However, when my wife (who is not a senior) phoned the practice, she was given an appointment immediately. I then tried again to get an appointment and was told I had to wait. This tells me one thing - that this practice cares more about money than the health of its patients, I don't believe this is in the spirit of the optometrists' oath as health professionals. If you want to ensure that you are supporting a professional optometrist who genuinely cares about your vision and health, please look up the positive reviews of other optometrists in Guelph and choose one.

Absolutely AWFUL. I…read moretook a pair of vintage glasses here to have the lenses replaced with sunglasses lenses. They told me vintage glasses were 'at your own risk' because they can't promise they won't break them trying to get new lenses into them. I understand that. I agreed to the terms. I asked them not to clean them, because they had rhinestones and I didn't want them putting chemicals near them. I came back several days later to pick up my glasses. The clerk presented them to me smiling; I paid for them and walked out of the store. A few steps down the mall I noticed there was something funny about the colour of them, like the paint had been rubbed off. I walked back in the store and asked them what had happened. At that point I was told that they had cleaned my glasses with a spray that was 'safe for all modern glasses', but apparently it had taken the paint right off of my vintage ones. Here is my problem. 1) I had asked them not to clean my glasses and they did anyway 2) I went and picked them up and paid and was not told that there had been a problem. The clerk just smiled at me and let me walk out of the store with them, hoping I wouldn't notice the damage 3) IF YOU NOTICED THE PAINT WAS COMING OFF THEM WHILE YOU WERE CLEANING THEM, WHY WOULD YOU CONTINUE? So instead of the paint just being damaged in a small area, they must have seen that there was red paint on their cleaning cloth, but they just continued to clean the entire set, removing a lot of the paint. That is ignoring the customer's requests, piled on top of lying, piled on top of stupidity. Absolutely everything about this transaction went from bad to worse. I even called the manager afterward to complain that I was basically lied to, not told about the damage and they let me walk out of the store, smiling all the while like Cheshire cats, letting me believe that my glasses were perfectly fine. The manager didn't care at all, saying that vintage glasses are 'at your own risk'. I KNOW THAT, but I don't appreciate Lens Crafters ignoring my requests, unnecessarily damaging my glasses with utter stupidity and then lying to me about it. However, my phone call got me absolutely nowhere. I tell you this as a cautionary tale; do not, under any circumstances trust lens crafters with your glasses.

I purchased the scratch resistant coating for all of them, however, on one of the pair, the scratch resistant coating began to fail after about six months of use. I only used this pair of glasses at my computer at work so they were lightly used. Nearing the end of my first year of use, the glasses were so scratched that it had become difficult to use the glasses. There were so many scratches on my lenses that everything appeared cloudy while wearing them. I returned my glasses to them before the one year warranty was up and asked for the lenses to be replaced. They did so reluctantly, but not before accusing me of cleaning them improperly and telling me that they were going to put a note in my account even though I told them that I cleaned all of my pairs of glasses properly and that both of my other two pair that I bought from them had no scratches on them at all. I was disappointed at the terrible customer service I had received that day. By the time another six months had gone by, scratches began to appear on the new lenses once again and at a year, they were just as scratched and cloudy to look through as they were with the previous pair of lenses. Interestingly, a friend of mine had purchased the same style of glasses plus the scratch protection from LensCrafters but they were in a different colour. Her glasses were just as scratched but also had developed a couple of small bubbles in the coating. I did not know that was possible. A year ago, I returned to LensCrafters with a new prescription. Since two of the three pair I had previously purchased from them continued to be perfectly fine and with no scratches I, mistakenly, assumed that there was likely something "off" only with that particular style of glasses. One year ago, I purchased a new pair of glasses and in a different style than the one that was having problems with the scratch resistant coating. Sadly, after six months of use, this pair also began to have the same issues with the scratch resistant coating and at a year, they are cloudy to look through. This pair was significantly more expensive so you can imagine how frustrated and disappointed I am. I find myself wondering if there would be less scratches on these lenses if I had not had the scratch resistant coating added to them. Needless to say, I will not patronize LensCrafters again in the future.
