I started taking voice lessons with Ree Boado about two months ago. This week was amazing and very meaningful to me. One of the reasons I decided to take voice lessons was because of fear and embarrassment over my singing voice. My dad and my sister have beautiful voices. They definitely have a God-given gift and desire to sing, but they also had formal voice training in college. My mom plays the piano, saxophone and ukulele. Even though I took five years of piano lessons as a child, it did not come naturally to me. I always felt like the odd duck. So I decided to try. If any of you feel like I do...a little wobbly where music is concerned...I want to encourage you to work with Ree. This week I flat out told her "I hate my voice." She immediately switched tracks. What she was doing before this was very effective, but the change up was exactly what I needed. What I am saying is Ree is an extremely intuitive teacher. She has taken her own life experiences and let them influence the respectful way she works with me, the older adult student struggling with confidence. Thank you so much, Ree, for your skills and sensitivity. read more

Ree was fantastic to take lessons from. Several times I went in with a song I was struggling with, and she would make the smallest of changes to what I was doing and it made the song and notes suddenly easy to hit and hold. It was truly amazing how knowledgable she was and the difference it made. read more

I don't have enough positive things to say about Ree! I hadn't sang in over 7 years and had to prepare to sing for my grandma's 90th birthday. She helped me build confidence not only singing but with my Spanish. I would highly reccomend her to anyone looking for singing lessons. She is kind, patient, and very professional! read more

Ree Boado is wonderful! Not only is she a fabulous vocal coach who listens to my needs and tailors my lesson to address them, she is a kind and compassionate person. She is wise, knowledgeable, encouraging, helpful and generous. I am a singer-songwriter and feel like I hit the jackpot working with her because she has helped make my songs better. She's helped me work on problem spots and she's given me tools to practice and continue to grow! I feel more empowered and confident as a singer and I appreciate having her as a resource whenever I have a question. Another thing I appreciate so much about Ree is that I was able to do lessons over Zoom! It was also so nice to be able to do that and to be able to record them to refer to later. Five stars seems like not enough! Wish I could give her ten! read more

First review on Yelp and couldn't be more pleased that it is for this wonderful woman and voice coach. I was referred to Ree by a friend who used her for the very same vocal services I was in need of... to prepare the National Anthem for my law school graduation. My friend performed it at her graduation, and I was subsequently selected for mine. Although had countless years of vocal coaching from age 8-18, and more years than I can count of choir and musical theater experience under my belt, once I switched gears and went to law school, I pushed my singing to the back burner. Then, the opportunity arose to sing the National Anthem and instead of shying away from the opportunity, I decided to go for it. I have always struggled with stage fright and knew that this would be my biggest hurdle. After all, I was going to be singing in front of 3,000 people- by far the largest group I have ever performed in front of. I tried out one vocal coach before Ree, but it wasn't the right match. Then, I met Ree and there was no turning back! She was the perfect fit. Not only did she help strengthen my voice, expand my range, and help me add my own personal touch to the song, she really helped me take control of my stage fright and nervousness. She helped me switch my focus and intention away from my fears and doubts, and instead focus on the beautiful gift of music and ability to express myself through my voice. On top of being an incredibly skilled, knowledgable and passionate teacher, she is just an easy person to be around. I felt that I could experiment very freely with my voice in front of her, which is not something I feel comfortable doing around many people. Ree is down to earth and absolutely charming. I would have zero reservations recommending her to anyone looking for a vocal coach in any capacity. read more

My daughter has had voice lessons before, and although she had some fun with her prior vocal coach, Ree was well...better. I appreciate the respect she gives my daughter for instance. She doesn't treat her like a baby, she knows she's a growing teenager and presents lessons to her in a laid back yet empowering way. She also seems to focus on so much more than the basics, she has a way about her that encourages my daughter to approach her singing and song writing with confidence. Another thing I've enjoyed is that Ree is an AMAZING singer and song writer. She's had many years of experience playing and making music and instead of letting it all get to her head, she shares her heart and expertise with my daughter. She doesn't name drop or get caught up in herself, she gets caught up in helping my daughter achieve her musical goals. Not to mention, she has been able to coach my daughter via Skype! I Iove it! I love her! read more

Online Voice Coaching sessions with Ree really helped me achieve high levels of clarity and power in my communication style. English is my 2nd language and I often speak in 2 languages on a given day. Additionally, I've to communicate technical findings at work and they are not easy to understand in the first place. With Ree's coaching, I am able to have the nuances of diction, which is helping me become a very professional communicator. I also noticed that my confidence to communicate complex topics went through the roof after Ree's coaching because I had the vocal support and power I needed in my communication. Ree is one of the most positive coaches I've worked with...She created a supportive and positive environment to help me as I developed my vocal capabilities. Highly recommend you try a session with Ree to see what your voice is capable of... read more

Ree has been coaching me for almost a year and her attention and presence is amazing. She designs each lesson in such a way that it really exceeds your expectations. When you learn from Ree, your voice will improve and that improves your communication with people around you, which changes everything in your life. I signed up for vocal lessons and ended up getting more than expected. More confidence and empowerment though my voice! read more

Ree is an amazing voice coach that she does not only know how to communicate vocal knowledge effectively and efficiently but also performs very well herself. I have been studying with renowned classical voice coaches back in Hong Kong and some other established institutes such as Complete Vocal Technique and Singing Success, I am confident to say that Ree's approach is on par with a lot of the top coaches out there. Moreover, Ree is also very amicable, encouraging and honest. She is not only a great teacher and performer but also a researcher, always looking for something more effective in her teaching. All in all, I recommend anyone to schedule a lesson with Ree. It definitely will help you! read more

Initially Ree was pretty great, until I had a life emergency and she adamantly demanded to not reschedule me but to rather keep my payment. She will argue that because this emergency occurred in the same week she was put out twice. The truth is she saw my power was out, we rescheduled for two days later which was not my normal day and I got stuck at my employer for reasons beyond my control that day. I work for a classified government facility and this was an issue of protecting American classified information. I told her ASAP, asked if we could just add a lesson on to another week but she was hell bent to deny me, and ignore my obvious innocent misfortune, acting like she was put out by 5 minutes spent online. She will say that is time she might have been able to use to get money from another student, but yet she has cancelled on me with less than 24 hours notice and she thought that was fine to do to me, though. If I set aside time that day to teach a guitar lesson or work overtime then I guess she should have paid me back for that lesson not just rescheduled. Well all I asked her to do for me was the same courtesy, but Ree has no intention of reciprocating this courtesy only accepting it. She feels entitled to concessions when it benefits her, but when given the chance, will argue that there is no way she can make a concession for a student because the emergency happened in the same week. I'm not even sure how you can hold that against a student who takes online lessons, normally in a studio the electricity would be on the teacher, it's just a act of God that in an online lesson is not the student's fault! And so this power outage resulted in trying to make a bad day for me work, and when it didn't work, she said, sorry it's not personal but I'm taking the money. Um, okay? Ree is another one of those people that acts so great but looks away when someone is suffering and makes themselves believe that they are entitled to further hurt that person in a crisis. This was someone I actually thought was better than that. Keep in mind that in the past I had paid her for a missed lesson just trying to be fair, and had a good track record for the better part of a year of good attendance, and I just asked her to add the make up on another week like she asked me to do for her when she had something come up. I've taken music lessons all my life and nowhere that I went would I have ever faced this treatment like Ree provided. Ree has asked me to cancel with less than 24 hours noticed and Feels entitled to concessions in cases that benefit her. Maybe I could have used that time to teach a guitar lesson but I didn't sit there and demand money for a what-if scenario. Everyone has a policy but to ignore an act of God and demand entitlement to be paid for a long term student really makes you wonder how much she really cares about her students? Mind you I lost all the food in my fridge, power was out for two plus days, and I had to be stuck at work late which I did not get paid for, and then she wanted to take more money off me on top of that. If you're looking for an online lesson, keep looking. She will Adamantly hold to any weak claim she can find to take your money. Bottom line: Even if you were rich enough to afford to pay someone to take advantage of you during a crisis, why would you want to sing in front of someone like that? I don't care about money it's a necessary evil. I'm not upset about the money itself. I'm upset at how Ree expected concessions without reciprocating fairly, turned me away for asking her to be fair, took advantage of me when I was down based on some belief she is somehow entitled to be paid by a person in a crisis for services not rendered due to said crisis and she wouldn't hear me out or critically look at why she was wrong in this scenario. Everyone is out there trying to look like a great person while believing that the entitlement complex they hold is justified, same with Ree, despite the nature of the event being a rare emergency for a student who had an otherwise perfect attendance, perfect on time payment track record. The sad part is I would have been a paying customer for years I had no plan to ever quit, that money would have been a much larger sum than the 70 bucks she tried to eek out of me. Sad. read more

I've recently finished my second month of vocal coaching with Ree and I'm incredibly grateful for the the things I've since discovered and learned about my singing. She introduced me to sounds and techniques I'd never knew I could use. I'm gaining confidence and a beautiful sound. I have to add my lessons are via skype ands it's really no difference to being in person she takes the time and really works out my strengths and weaknesses as well as fine tuning my sound. Ree is a very down to earth person and an amazing singer, even more so in person. I love the way she teaches, she knows what she is doing. I'm a very nervous person when it comes to singing, and she has techniques for relaxing and giving me my own space to be free and have fun. And through all of that she always stays professional. read more

Ree has done an amazing job working with our 6 yr old over the past few months. We have watched him grow and exceed our expectations in very short time. All kids have their phases, but our son always ask when are we going to see Ree. As a parent, that lets you know your child is really enjoying things and isn't doing it, because you are pushing them. Personally, I have been impressed with how she works to develop his voice by dialing in the details on every note. We love the fact that she doesn't try to push him beyond his comfort zones and is always open to let him sing new songs. Her technique with children has helped him develop more confidence in his ability. When he first started we could barely get him to sing to me, and after 2 months he was singing in front of his classmates at a talent show. We absolutely love her instruction; she has exceeded our expectations and is truly a professional at her craft. Thank you so much for taking the time to be our son's voice coach and mentor. Oh and this woman can sing people, so Go See Ree! you wont be disappointed. read more

I am a 45 year old novice singer. I have played guitar since I was 15, I play out and about in my local music scene. So I am decent enough to get paid for playing guitar. I have always wanted to sing more than I have, but never worked on vocals, because I had no confidence in my singing voice. When I would try to sing in front of people, I would notice that their expressions were like "ohh that poor thing should stop", or "he can't hold a tune in a bucket". I knew I needed a coach of some sort, and was lucky enough to stumble on Ree's ad. So I contacted Ree for lessons, and wow! I am happy I did. Ree is a great communicator, she can put things in terms that you will understand. She is a great singer in her own right, and has a great ear, which she uses to individualize your lessons. Her lessons flow naturally, not like learning from a book. Her lessons are never boring, and are always focused on your needs. You can tell Ree knows her craft very well, and practices what she shows the student. Her personality is awesome. Ree is great at encouragement, and helping you know that you CAN SING, as opposed to thinking you might pull it off. I have learned so much from Ree, and I look forward to learning much more from her. So, if you have always wanted to try learning how sing, Ree Boado is who you need to contact! If you can sing well now, but want to take your voice to the next level, Call Ree, she can help. read more

History
Established in 2002.
What began as a side job upon the request of a friend, has blossomed over the years into a passion for empowering students to overcome the same challenges that I felt for many years, and learn how to use their unique voice to better communicate in the world! I've taught students at all levels from ages 4-73, though I specialize in teens and adults. I studied classical voice at Grand Canyon University, but feel I gained more vocal power and control by later studying other methods with vocal coaches of artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Justin Bieber, Hayley Williams and Justin Timberlake. I've also received training from internationally renowned, Nashville Vocal Coach Lisa Haupert, who is the Education Manager of the esteemed VocalizeU teacher network and has been trained in speech science, vocal pedagogy, and medicine through the Summer Vocology Institute with Dr. Ingo Titze, the leading vocal scientist of our day.

I don't always write reviews... but when I do, I prefer to write them about awesome stuff. I believe in the idea that to be great you have to surround yourself with greatness. Ree is one of those people you should be surrounded by. I've only been with her for awhile but already I've become more comfortable, confident and have gained a better understanding of my bronze pipes (soon to be golden). I don't know about you, but I really dig lists. So, I'm going to finish with a list of reasons you should or should not make Ree your vocal coach too. Should: -Lessons are super packed with good info. I've had lessons with other people who just strung me along, giving me little itty bitty pieces of fluff and then ripping the check from my hands. That's not cool. Ree IS cool. -She keeps a notebook with info about her students. To me, this means that she actually cares about her students enough to tailor lessons to each individually; noting their strengths, weaknesses, and overall goals. -Lessons are recorded for you to review. This is really good for me because I'm the type of person who loses memory games to goldfish. -She supports and reassures you instead of patronizing or demeaning you. If you reach a weak spot in your voice, instead of saying "you suck" and avoiding the problem, she will give you an exercise to push through the barrier. -She has tons of experience, an impressive list of credentials, and is, in fact, a working musician. Pretty snazzy. (I can't wait to say the same about myself, which I'm confident will happen with Ree's help.) -She's also a very genial individual. Seriously. Super chipper. Always smiling. Because of this, lessons are a treat instead of a chore. Now, I try be objective in my reviews. So, without further delay... Should Not: -If you are a monolingual Romanian shoemaker living in Poland and you detest music because you believe only hipsters like music and you have a vendetta against all hipsters... and puppies... then, unfortunately, vocal lessons with Ree may not be for you. However, I encourage anyone who is not the aforementioned shoemaker to give singing lessons a shot, even if you're nervous like I was. It's often the things we don't do that we regret the most. I pinky promise you won't regret lessons with Ree, and there is no promise more sacred than that of the pinky. Cheers! :D read more

I've been working with Ree for several years now. I originally started lessons with her when she started her vocal studio in Phoenix, Arizona. We worked on my pitch and harmonies, which greatly improved, but most importantly she helped me overcome my stage fright. I ended up moving to Nashville a couple years later and luckily she continued our sessions Online via Skype. In fact, when she moved to China for a year and a half to open a studio over there we continued our lessons while she was overseas! That was awesome! The time difference made things kinda weird, but we worked it out. But thank my lucky stars! She now has a business here in Nashville! Yippee! It's been so awesome! I kinda got used to Skype lessons which are soooo convenient since I don't have to leave my house and drive somewhere, but it's also cool to have a lesson face to face. So I usually do one lesson face to face and the rest per month via Skype. Thanks again Ree for helping me with everything! Oh yeah, and she also helps with songwriting. This has been great especially when getting stuck on a song or if I just need some honest, skilled feedback on what I've been working on. Anyhoo, if you need a personable, encouraging, and professional vocal coach, you'll definitely benefit by having Ree on your team. read more

As this was my first ever voice lesson, I was super nervous! Ree immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable! She contacted me before we even met to get an idea of what I needed and wanted but mostly to see if she could help me because that, as you will see, is her main goal: to help YOU! She cares about getting you to the goals you want and empowering you as a vocalist. Her fun, calm yet energetic atmosphere and presence is wonderful! It helps engage me each week and motivates me! I have met with her for over 4 months now and am blown away by my improvements. We discuss and work on the mental aspects as well as the techniques. I knew I wanted to have her as my voice coach because I have heard her own music. After meeting with her one time, I was so glad her vocal ability was as great as her teaching ability! She's great with beginners like me and yet is knowledgeable for more advanced students. I HIGHLY recommend Ree! read more

My voice lessons with Ree are one of the highlights of my week. She's so knowledgeable and I'm constantly learning new things. She does a great job recognizing individual strengths and helping you improve on your weaker areas. My confidence as a singer has improved exponentially and it's all thanks to her instruction and encouragement. Yes, Ree knows her stuff, is a great teacher, and we have a lot to cover in our lessons; but we also laugh a lot! Which I feel is so important in any educational setting. Yes, I'm sure that awkward dolphin noise we're making while doing scales is developing my vocal chords. But it's still going to be funny to me no matter how you explain it. If you're looking for a great vocal coach, take lessons from Ree :) read more

So this is my first ever Yelp review. I don't usually use Yelp, but maybe I'll give it a try. I definitely had to give a SHOUT OUT to my singing teacher. She's totally awesome. I just started going to her. She teaches in a little study in the Woodbine/Berry Hill area. I can't believe how much she helped my on just my first day!! I love how patient she is with everything. I kinda freak out cuz I'm a little shy, but she totally helped me focus and block all the negative thoughts. I'm not sure but she might be like a life coach too. I brought my guitar along and we worked on some songs and lyrics for a bit... that was unbelievable. It's great to hear another person's thoughts, especially if they are a singer and songwriter too! read more

I started going to Ree for vocal lessons around 5 months ago. I came in not knowing what to expect, as I had never had a lesson in my entire life. I was really secretive about my singing, but I knew that it was something I had to get over. I used to be nervous singing in front of others. Now, I love singing in front of others. She helped me find what I needed to work on. The excersises we do actually push you and make you better. We do so many weird things and make so many weird sounds, but it works. She's a really fun person, too. I couldn't ask for a better teacher. I have so much left to learn and work on, and with her by my side it's not a problem. I strongly recommend her as a vocal coach if you're looking for someone. read more

Ree has been key in me understanding my voice and grasping my potential. I'd been singing my entire life but knew I needed something more. She challenged me to fully embrace my voice and taught me the skills necessary to gain a higher, less strained singing voice and showed me how to completely remove the break in my voice. She also coached me on songwriting, refining my ability to portray the deep feeling I want in my music. I must say, I now feel nearly limitless. Here's a link to the song she inspired me to rewrite and I'm so glad I did! (To the love of my life, Jes) https://youtu.be/ZPuaIyCdB7I read more

I've been working with Ree for a couple of months, and have a had a great experience with her. She is super sweet and friendly, personality-wise. She is also a skilled voice teacher. She has done a great job getting to know my voice to refine my personal problem areas, and help me to develop my own style to sing with a more modern style (as opposed to my more classical training). I sing fairly often for my church and have already noticed some significant gains in my vocal technique. Plus, my worship pastor has given me some positive feedback on how I'm sounding since I started lessons. Thanks, Ree! read more

In the time I have been working with her, I have noticed a difference in my vocal ability that give me the confidence to venture out in my passion.
