Didn't even get past the quote. Ran my credit even though I said I was not interested in financing. I was told that if I wanted to pay up front I could not custom select the equipment that I needed. Instead I had to choose from a package that included items I did not need. But if I financed it I could choose my equipment. Very strange. They basically try to force you into financing so they have you under contract and can lock you in. Suspicious. Seems like this company may have some shady business practices! read more

The initial installation was postponed four times! When the day finally came for installation, it took over eight hours!! Not because the installer wasn't knowledgeable, but, as he stated, the company can't keep up with its own technology. Since then, customer service has been non existent. Had an appointment today that was setup last month. Installer never showed. Never called. Never texted. This was after I was hounded by Vivint via phone, text and email to confirm, which I did, my appointment for today. Oh, and customer service?? Stay far away from this company! I've noticed they started coming around the neighborhood again trying to sell their business. We had a bad run-in with them about five years ago and basically were scammed. They could not fix anything that was broken after being customers for a few years. Kept sending out the same tech who knew nothing. They wanted their money regardless. We stopped paying, they reported us to credit bureau and we filed complaints. Legal involvement. If I could give them zero stars I would. Serving in the military, told the salesman we were leaving soon and concerned about transitioning the service. Were assured it would be an easy transfer. Well, we contacted vivint to remove our name from the contract and were on the hook for a service cancellation fee and had to pay off the remaining balance on the equipment. This was going to cost us about $2100 before complaining and getting some fees removed. Seamless transition, right? Rocky Niger (salesman) is not to be trusted. I would like to start this complaint when a sales rep contacted me about upgrading my panel today at 4:42pm Sep 6, 2024. The sales rep asked if I would be interested in upgrading my panel to an up to date model. I replied with I'll have to speak with my wife and that the panel cost is $500. After that he continues with pressuring me to give in and to just go ahead and update the panel that it's 11yrs old. Again I said that I'll speak to my wife about upgrading my gear when she gets home. He still ignores my request and ask for my last four and that he can have a technician out to me to go over the features of the panel and he can do a soft pull of my credit to see if I qualify for the equipment. Now I'm upset as to why are yall still trying to force me into something when I have already said that I needed to speak with my wife multiple times to see if this was something I wanted? I really don't like the way I was treated and I plan to find another company that will treat my wishes with the upmost respect. I felt belittle as he tried to tell me that your working with an old iPhone 4 and it's on a new model and I replied with it's not broke so why does it matter as he tried to continue to sell me something. 500 dollars isn't a little bit of money and Idk why your sells rep act this way? An embarrassment to society. Wanted to come in for a quick chat to write stuff down and started talking to me nonstop after I told him I wanted to go to bed after a long day. Then was expecting me to stay up til past 10pm just for someone to come at that moment (which he didn't tell me til last minute) to come and install it AT THE VERY TIME. And I was so heated, they kept trying to change my mind and the other guy tried to kill time by asking me for water and it was just so bad. I will be calling the company first time tomorrow to get all my information taken out because I am so disgusted by how these people treated me being 6 months pregnant just wanting to go to bed. read more

BEWARE: Vivint (Home Security) will swindle you if you are not careful! The system that was already in our home when we moved in is a Vivint Smart Security System. When I tried to learn about it, they offered me a 30 day trial (of course, this is not found in the fine print in their very long contract). I have not been impressed with the system nor their app. It won't even connect to my network consistently and their app is down frequently, saying "we are working on our app, please try again later." When I tried to cancel my account today (21 days in), they told me they only typically give a 3 day trial! That's bonkers! I clarified with their salesman several times throughout the conversation that I would be able to cancel within the 30 day trial and he assured me it would be very simple. Now they're playing games with me. Suddenly, they can't reach that salesman I spoke with, so they are now saying they have to access the recording of our conversation to verify that he truly offered me a 30 day trial. They'll get back to me next week. I was told, "If you don't hear back from us by next week, reach back out to us." What's with this latest line? In other words, "If we can't do our job, you'll have to call us numerous times and good luck resolving your issue!" What kind of customer service is this? If I end up having to pay the cost of a 12 month contract ($45/month), I will NOT be happy. If you product isn't good enough to sell itself, ripping people off definitely won't. Please pass it on...Vivint Smart Home Service is not transparent in their contract, their trial period, the app is not what it promises to be and the system itself seems very dated. Not impressed at all. I recommend that you steer clear of this company. If you look back at my other reviews, you will see that I am not a Yelper who frequently writes poor reviews. EDIT: They just came to my home AGAIN a day after my last experience and me telling them that they should NOT come back another time and to leave us alone. Just had my FOURTH experience with Vivint reps coming to our door. Every time we have had a no soliciting sign up and every time they have ignored it. And if they knock and you don't answer- they will continue to knock over and over and over again. The first time they came to my home I said I wasn't interested and as I was shutting the door the rep TRIED TO PUSH HIS WAY THROUGH MY CLOSING DOOR to presumably tell me more until my husband told him to go away. The last two times we've opened the door, pointed out the no solicting sign to which they've said "We're not actually soliciting." Also got a description of how the guy could easily break into my house through my garage doors if he wanted to, as most thieves could as well (mind you, we have a security system already). This most recent time the rep continued to knock on my door despite hearing my dogs inside going NUTS. All of this is while I'm trying to work from home on meetings. I said I was not interested and pointed out the no soliciting sign. Again, got the "I'm not soliciting, don't worry." I said "I'm not interested." (This is all through a shut door because I was so freaked out with the first rep trying to push his way through.) He said "It's okay, I'll just come back later." I told him not to bother. I guess the training this company receives is "Harass potential clients, ignore their requests to leave the property, and attempt home invasions?" Absolutely bananas how brazen these folks are. I could not give 0 stars, so I had to give one. I have been dealing with service companies for over 50 years now, and I have NEVER had a worse experience! This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the WORST company I hav ever dealt with. They lie, they mislead, they doubletalk, and they grossly misrepresent their service and product. You have to jump through hoops and wait on the phone for an abnormal amount of time if you have any issues, without any real resolution. There is so much to say, and so little words. I have a security system and have recorded this salesman visiting my home 5 times in the last 3 days. I wasn't feeling well, so did not answer my door twice, was not home once and he rang at 8:30p last night - not appropriate for door to door sales. He knocked excessively, rang the bell several times and then stood back, out of the sight of my camera, with his back to the door. Today, I opened the door (to stop the excessive visits) and I told him we were happy with our current system, 2 times I tried to get back to my phone call (that was listening in to the conversation). He rolled his eyes and told me "if I would just let him finish". He told me he had driven 30 minutes "just to talk to me" (and what about the other 2 days). I told him I wasn't interested for the third time, so he asked me how many exterior doors do I have... I told him that I am not going to disclose anything about my home or current security system. He knew he wasn't making any headway with me, and asked "which of your neighbors can I help?" I would not subject any of my neighbors to his attitude on purpose so said "I don't know any", he rolled his eyes again and sarcastically said "Right, you don't know any of your neighbors". I was done with that visit and he wrapped it up and left. I have heard several other stories similar to mine from this company, from friends around town. This company is training their sales people to be invasive, condescending, aggressive and shady. Rude salesman. The young man asked my questions about our current security system and I started to feel uncomfortable and told him "I'm sorry, I don't feel comfortable answering questions about my homes security system" I don't discuss it with anyone I don't know that's not part of my security systems company. He rolled his eyes at me and then proceeded with his information. I told him "I'm sorry I'm not interested in another security system", he didn't miss a beat and continued. I literally said "I'm not interested" 3 more times and he continued to talk over me until I cut him off and said "NO. NO. I'm NOT interested" and had to push his info sheet back at him. He responded with "well, it's my job to tell you this" and scoffed and turned away. Talking over someone else and completely ignoring what they're saying is a terrible sales tactic that will guarantee no sale. This is coming from someone that has worked many years in customer service, teach some manners to your staff. Btw I'm pretty sure my Nest camera picked up that whole encounter. read more

Not only was the sales person pushy and unclear he set an install time when he knew I would be at work since I had spent the whole hour while he was promoting the unit discussing where I worked and when I had to leave to be at work. The install person arrived and proceeded to work when there was not an adult present in the household. But then when I contacted the company about the above and wanted to have the unit removed it took 12 days for someone to come out to remove the unit. I was told the person removing the unit would be a senior tech, turns out it was the same person who had done the install. We were told that everything would be returned to how it was before they did the initial but they left without even saying they were done and my old system is sitting on the floor not attached to the wall. Vivint sounded like a dream come true when the representative came by the house. Fast forward a few years and I wish I could go back and not even agree to become a vivint customer. The representative came by the house, told us all the great things vivint can do and it all sounded great. He even told me that I could cancel anytime or that because I'm military the service would travel with me. He was right about the traveling but completely wrong about the cancel anytime. What he failed to mention is that I can cancel anytime as long as I pay the remaining months worth of payments. So as it stands I have 16 payments left as of today. My family has fallen upon some hard financial times and in order to cancel my service I would have to pay $1120 today. That doesn't really fall within cancel anytime that the representative told me. To add to all of that I got a letter from the city telling me I have to pay for and register my home security on top of my payments. I have been a customer with vivint for over 3 years and I used to say how great it was. But now it is just a sham that loops you into a 5 year contract that you can't cancel anytime without paying a hefty fee. Needless to say I will not be renewing with Vivint and I will also be telling others that there are better companies than Vivint out there that do not require a 5 year contract. The sad part is even after talking with the "Customer Loyalty" representative and explaining my frustration his only answer was I could renew my contract another 3 or 4 years to reduce my payment and also give me the ability to get more equipment at a lower price. This evening despite the fact that we have a "no solicitors" sign on our front door a sales person from Vivint Security Systems rang the doorbell. Thinking it was the father of our daughter's friend, I answered the door and kindly told the young man I wasn't interested in Vivint and that we were happy with our current system. He had some questions about that system (when was it installed, how long have we lived here, etc.) As he was about to leave he asked "one last question" to use our bathroom. Against my better judgement (and because our daughter's friend's dad was walking into the house) I allowed him to come in. Low and behold, three hours later as I am getting ready for bed and locking up, I go to arm our ADT system AND IT DOESN'T WORK! It worked last night, and the other 364 days this year but the one time he entered my home, the system fails. I do not believe this is a coincidence. All I know is he was from Vivint, his name was Ben and he was in my neighborhood around 7:30 PM. I called Vivint and without his badge number they can't do anything, there is also no sales manager in the area - apparently everyone reports to the corporate office in Utah. The three different people I spoke with at Vivint tonight agreed that it all seemed a bit peculiar, sketchy was one of the words used but there are too many Bens working for them and they couldn't possibly figure out which Ben was in zip code 23320 this evening. The cutting edge, high tech company has no idea where their employees are at any given time. It was suggested next time I see him to ask him for his badge number and report him. I'm hoping the next time I see him it isn't as he's walking out the door with my jewelry and flat screen TV! read more

They came to uninstall the system, doorbell and lock...they didn't put the lock back on our door. They also didnt put the doorbell back on. We called customer service they said the tech would be back in 20 mins. 2 hours later we called back and was told we would be charged $50 for a tech to come out. When asked to speak with a supervisor he told us there wasn't one available. Then he says we should get a neighbor to put our lock back on our front door. After threatening to report them he waived the fee,but said a tech wouldn't be out until the next day between 12 and 4 pm. He again suggested a neighbor doing it. He expected us to sleep with no lock on our front door. We were going to get their service after our contract was up with another company but after their treatment we will not be. Even after telling them we have a kid and my grandmother in the house still nothing. Nice to see how they treat people and military vets. read more

After reading several bad reviews that sound like people just don't read what they sign and have dealt with someone who didn't divulge the whole truth. I decided to go with the Vivint system. I put this poor guy through the ringer but everything is clearly written in the contract. Of course if you sign it you are bound. I had to take a phone call where this lady who seemed pretty friendly but, serious asked me annoying questions that I had already agreed to with the sales guy. I love the system. Absolutely. I had adt before. Can't complain about too much with them. I set my new system off on accident because I was used to the back door sensor not working. Which of course Vivint had to replace. And they pad had someone speaking to me in the same minute it seemed. I like the app. I like the equipment. I like the convenience. I like it. If you are sitting with a Vivint guy. Ask him questions. Don't get yourself into a pickle like these other people are saying. I just want to post a good review since it seems only the bad ones make it up. read more
