So, short version: I started this journey in June. A tech came out and installed the system wrong. I was then told that he was not an official representative. Then another guy came out about a week later and fixed that. Then told me the amount of equipment we discussed at the beginning was over $500 and I told him I was not told that. That was finally fixed. I should have taken these encounters as a sign from God not to continue and cancel then. I've had a problem with my equipment for a few weeks now and it has been an absolute struggle to try to get someone out to fix it. I've spoken to two reps over the phone and both said "yeah, we can get them out soon and these are the dates and I'll set that right up"....yada-yada. Well, just chatted with an agent to see when a technician will come out this week, as discussed with the second representative yesterday. And this happened (see pictures). I really thought the representative I spoke to yesterday really wanted to help us. I just don't understand why things are this way. I don't get it. Do they truly not care at all about the customer? I would have canceled my services yesterday, but the contract you signed is for over $2000 and you are locked into that until it is all paid off. Buyer beware. I regret signing up with company. The customer service is very Dr Jekyl-Mr Hyde. If you're looking for a great alarm company, go with Front Point. I never realized how good I had it then. I'll be back Front Point, just might take me awhile to pay off the contract debt. read more

If I could give them negative stars, I would. If you move, this company will nickel and dime you at every turn and will not refund your money. They charged me over 250 dollars this year for equipment I wasn't using, that they promised they would send and never did. Scam artists. I'd set up wire and cans around my house before I ever consider using Vivint again. read more

Starting from the sales representative, lied from the get go!!! When we purchased the system, he told us that we would be able to use the system without the service, and could also cancel before paying off the equipment. Also no word on a five year contract and we had to pay off the equipment before canceling the service. Well it turns out that the whole system is worthless without their service and now we have an expensive horn that will go off when coming into the home without permission, and an also an expensive door chime!!! If there was a 0 star then I would rate Vivint a 0. Other than the sweet installer, this company is NO GO. You are TRAPPED. We signed a one-month contract thereby becoming a month-to-month customer. Upon deciding Vivint wasn't right for us a few months later; I called customer service and they said because my husband's name was on the account, I couldn't cancel it. Okay, so then my husband called, and they said we don't do cancellations over the phone, you need to send in a written Notice of Cancellation, I'll email you the details. Upon receiving, we wrote up a Notice of Cancellation. Sent it to the email provided, (August 8th, 2022) received an auto mated received response and then heard nothing for over 30 days....So we called to follow up. The customer service agent "couldn't find our email in the system" so he requested a screen shot. Which we emailed while on the phone with him (Sept 14, 2022) in the meantime our account showed a $54.11 balance. He said DO NOT pay that because your account should have been cancelled on August 8th, 2022. We said okay, can you confirm that. He said wait 24-48 hours for our system to update and it will reflect a $0 balance and terminate your contract. Okay, nothing 24 hours later, nothing 48 hours later. Two weeks later (Sept 28, 2022), we reach out and email him if its been cancelled. No response. Oct 3rd, we email him because now we have late fees and an outstanding $110 overdue bill. Finally, October 20th, 2022 my husband emails him again and receives an automated outlook response stating the email was "Deleted before read in Montrovia".....um. Not ok. So now, we complied every single email starting from August 8th, and are mailing them Certified Receipt to Provo, UT. Very unprofessional. Very frustrating. I feel like we've been taken advantage of by a company who's supposed to be providing protection. Bleh. DO NOT USE VIVINT. And whatever you do DO NOT AUTO PAY or you will be paying for services after you request cancellation. read more

Got system to fit our needs with Paul at 5pm by 8pm Cannon came and installed our system. They were able to adjust to fit a system that will benefit us now and in the future. Both were very knowledgeable and professional. System works exactly as they said it would. Great service so far read more

This company never did anything to fix our problem yet they still want money. Well they aren't getting a penny from me. They voided the contract by not servicing us so I will be filing a lawsuit against them. I know I am not the only one. read more

Worst company ever. I have had my system for four months. The doorbell has yet to work. It rings on the outside but not on the inside. The monitor fell off the wall and I had to wait two weeks for them to come fix it. In the meantime live wires were hanging out the wall. I was instructed by Vivint to not let anyone get near them. The alarm went off and I found out that the alarm is not connected to the police department nor the fire department. They did not tell me about a five year contract. Four months in and my system still does not work. Horrible customer service. Every time I call they want to walk me through something. Whatever you do please do not get Vivint Smart Home if you want a reliable home protection system. read more

My Mom signed up with Vivint and I ended up having to follow up and cancel the service. Right after she signed up Mom got hurt and had to move out of her home. I contacted the door to door salesman who traveled to Tyler to sell from Houston and he right away hey no problem in canceling in the future. He put an app on my phone which was not very useful outside of turning the system on. I had to call several times before I could get a copy of a contract and frankly I suspect I never got all the information. Let me point out the salesman never delivered a copy of the contract and was unable to email me one. Finally my brother realized what was going on and urged me to cancel the service before my Mom got tied into a 5 year contract. Of course the salesman never explained this. Thankfully I figured out how to do so but even though I canceled the contract within the 30 day grace period that is only offered the elderly. Vivint still charged my Mom for the next month. Of course in the meantime my app was disabled so I was unable to use the service I was charged for. Vivint really tries to push technology with the idea of course of raising your bill. For example they gave my Mom two google mini to control the system. My Mom had no clue what these were for. Clearly Vivint is out of touch with the needs of the elderly what is a 90 year old lady going to do with a google mini? Just beyond foolish.I explained this to the salesman who said I do what I am told. You can do whatever you want with those google mini .More than a little silly as I could use the google on my phone to achieve the same tasks. Again nothing of use to my Mom who still uses a landline. The same day my Mom signed the contract the technician raced over and installed their system ripping out a good working system which frankly my Mom should have kept. The same salesman who could never deliver a contract helped my Mom cancel the contract with I believe Central . Of course he wore my Mom out staying over to install this system that evening. However when I asked to disconnect they insisted they had to pick up the 2 google mini and the panel leaving holes in our sheet rock . Worse I had to wait 3 weeks. They could have sent someone over the first week when my brother was in the house but no I had to make an extra trip of three hours just to let the fella in for a grand total of 10 minutes? I realized the salesmen and the technicians have no clue what the other is doing to go along with the uneven service from corporate head quarters. I would discourage you from doing business with these folks. First I got charged 2 months for at best one month service. In addition my Mom was forced to pay Central one last payment so for one month service she paid three months of fees. My impression is Vivint brings in salesmen from out of town to target naïve elderly people such as my Mom. What was so sad was the couple of times I dealt with Central they were professional, pleasant to deal with very straight forward my Mom should have stayed with them. Also coordination between the various departments of Vivint is poor to nonexistent. Why was my Mom's credit card charged after I canceled my service? I can only imagine if for some reason problems developed with a system as coordination between departments is poor. Vivint was so focused on getting money that they recorded my Mom making the transaction and put her on a 5 year contract. Look for Central you will be much better off. read more

We have had problems with faulty equipment since signing up with Vivint in 2013. We have had techs come out to the house, we have done troubleshooting over the phone, we were told our equipment was "out of date" and were suppose to be given updated equipment... that has still not happened. Everyone we deal with seems insufficiently trained. We recently purchased a new home and are in the process of moving. I called the customer service line to find out how much time was left in my contract and what my best option would be..I was on hold for OVER an hour before I finally hung up. Funny how when I call Billing I get a live person in under 2 minutes...if trying to cancel or move service you're lucky to ever get someone. I tried to have the Billing Dept transfer me to the cancellation Dept in the hopes that they would be able to get me a live person, but they had to wait on hold too...they only have access to the same customer support number that customers do. Online Support team via chat are all just plain Rude..they start off sweet until they find out you want to cancel or move service. They can't end the chat fast enough. Forget talking to managers or supervisors that won't happen. They conveniently "don't have access to those numbers either". I would definitely NOT recommend Vivint, especially not after today. They lure you in with all the fancy equipment and fairy cheap rates, but it is NOT worth it in my opinion. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. read more

I might be a fan of the system i.e. has all the bells and whistles, etc. but actually getting the system and having to wait five years to discontinue or pay a $3000 "fine" is not all right. That was not explained i.e. "small print". The salesperson was very "pushy", did not explain the finer points of getting and maintaining, and left considerable information out of the sales pitch. The salesperson and the installers went through my house like a whirlwind and the system is very expensive and cannot be changed once installed until the contract period is up. Seems other users have different options and pay less. read more

RUN!!!!!! Viviint does not care about you, their customer service is not up to date on problems with your system. I had a battery go out, purchased new batteries, called customer service spoke to Ben, he kept talking over me, long story short sensor broke or rather had me push circuit board back in this little tube which was hard to do, and it should not of been . He told me there was no wrong way to do it, well could not get circuit board out of tube which now my system on the main door of. my home will not arm! There is a right way to do it. Now have to bypass my system to get other doors armed, while main door unarmed. They were going to send me a new sensor which would take 10 working days, I explained I do not like being unarmed, to overnight it they would not.. Called back and demanded a supervisor, which took about 15 minutes to go through their screening, he was going to send a representative and would have them call me! We'll guess what no calls!!!!! I called back today had to talk to two different people and the last guy was going to get someone to call me today!! Guess what? Nobody has called me....I tried to cancel my service since this is not my first problem with Vivint, found out they had locked me into a 4 year contract. I had lost my husband and felt I need a Security System and since the equipment was already in the home I purchased I had it activated. I am so sorry that I ever got mixed up with this company. In December of 2013 they took out two payment without notifying me that they had failed to take pmt for November. When I called the girl was rude and cold and said well then just forgot about November so they took two months out inDecember. She had no compassion, I am on fixed income and taking two months out at one time especially when they never informed me of their error. Their service is terrible but they have no problem debating your account. I did tell the representative today that just as soon as this contract is up I will be canceling service! I will start notifying them by certified mail 3 months prior to contract ending to end my service. If I have any problems with this I will post again and I will contact the Attorney General and the BBB. I am seriously going to get away from them as soon as I can and I hope anyone looking into a Security System will do their homework and do not get taken like I did. read more
