Vivint's security is so complete, even you can't get in your house! The app frequently locks me out of my own house, leaving me unable to get in other than to trip the alarm, run to the panel and disarm from there, crossing my fingers and toes and anything else that I get there in time that the police don't show up. It's happened before, and I suspect it will happen again. Their customer service is nearly useless. It's a bad, bad, bad system. I had a very pushy sales rep who misrepresented or outright lied about my system and install. Price quote said $1000 rebate but it turned out to be less than $200. The system costs over $3000 but you do get a insurance discount for monitoring. Ask insurance. We Install drilled hole in plaster and told it would not show -- false. Their sales rep, Raul, came knocking on my door a few weeks ago. I should have never let them into my home. Probably one of the biggest regrets I have. First of all, he didn't tell me that he was running my credit with a third party to cover my equipment. He told me that I would only have to pay $75 a month, but failed to tell me that I would also have to owe Vivint a separate fee. The only number he told me was $75 plus taxes. He then tells me that it would only take 1.5 hrs to install everything. It took just over 3 hrs for the installation. The technician drilled into my wall EIGHT TIMES to try and install the pad. My wall looks destroyed. Raul also accidentally charged me $25 for a glass break sensor that he forgot to put into the package. It has been over 2 weeks and that charge is still on my card even though I was told that he handled it. I was also told that my Vivint system would work directly with my Alexa's that are in my home, but that was a lie. He also told me I'd be able to cancel my service within the first month if I was unhappy, which of course was a lie and it was actually only 3 DAYS. I have called to get my service cancelled, which is when I found out about the 3 days. I was told that they were going to look into it and then let me know. I never received a phone call from anyone. I called a week later and they said they still don't have a resolution for me. I finally get an email from them that day that basically says I'm shit out of luck and there's nothing they can do. They also told me that they couldn't refund my $25 because I don't have my billing set up as auto pay, which has gotta be complete bull shit. You charged my card, you can refund it. Someone knocked on my door and just stood there and then knocked really hard and stood there and we have a huge ceiling to floor glass window in the living room beside the front door where you can see in a lot of our house. I peeked around and saw a guy with a clipboard and said I do not open doors for people I don't know and I am not interested. He said I am doing work at Sherri's (my neighbor) so I thought he might say he needed access to our yard or something because she does not have my number and he started to pitch me cameras and security systems. I said look it makes me very nervous when someone comes up to the door I don't know. Our house has been broken into and I don't want you on my porch. You are making me uncomfortable. Please leave my property. He got very aggressive and creepy. He slammed a brochure on my window and said why aren't you concerned with your security. I called for my husband who told him that he needs to leave immediately and he moved some Halloween decorations so he could close the curtains. The guy lingered on our porch for a few minutes and then went off on his hoverboard. I called Vivint and the guy I spoke to did not care at all and gave me another number to someone else who did not care at all and they gave me an HR email. I found out he did the same thing to another neighbor and would not leave and caught them outside. He is creepy and aggressive. this service is absolutely terrible. my sales rep originally told me I had a 30 day trial and I could cancel at any time. I called 10 days in to cancel and they said that it was 4 days not 30. on top of that, my cameras have never worked properly and it took me several calls and complaints to get it fixed. Now my deadbolt won't lock or unlock automatically and my thermostat isnt working. I have a newborn and my house has been at 65 degrees the last several hours even though my app says it's 70. the wall Mount says 65. makes no sense. don't use this company, there sales team are a branch of scam artists, and the customer servixe team is complete trash and don't side with you on anyting. hopefully I get a response to my thermostat not working so my famiky can be warm this winter. read more

A sales representative came to my house to offer me their service, he stated that they were going around in my areas looking for homeowners to go with their security service and if I switch with them the equipment would be free and he showed me what my monthly bill would be. I decided to go with them, but a little over a week later I received a bill for the equipment (almost $4000) from a company called Fortiva. When I called Vivint they told me the equipment was not free so when I stated their sales rep told me it was or I wouldn't have gotten their service because I was already with a alarm company with equipment already paid for,..they basically told me I was lieing that the sales rep didn't ay that..I then told them I want to cancel this service they told me I missed my deadline..I only had it for not even two weeks.. This is a scam. We signed up to have the system installed a few months ago when a salesman came to our door and did a phenomenal job at selling the system (Brad Rombach). All lies. The install was anything but smooth. The first technician did a half assed job couldn't get everything hooked up and did not have all the equipment that was ordered so we had to schedule an additional date and time for him to come back and finish the job. The original installing technician kept calling at all hours of the night. And in one instance just showed up unannounced outside of the future to scheduled appointment that had not happened yet. Once the first technician came out for the new schedule date to finish the job he still did not have all the equipment required and was unable to fix the things that he messed up and in some instances he actually made things worse. I reported the issue to Brad and he had two other technicians come out and fix and finish the job. The new technicians fixed most of the issues but still had to come back on a 3rd trip as they also did not have all of the equipment required. Once the system was completely installed we had installed 2 cameras, doorbell camera, smoke detector, thermostat, Control panel, A punch lock for the front door that is designed to arm and disarm the alarm when locking and unlocking. Since the install I have had to chat with you 24/7 tech-support for various issues at least once a month and I've spent countless hours troubleshooting various malfunctions that have happened over the past 4 to 5 months of having the system. I've had to contact them twice for the doorbell not working. Three times for the thermostat not working properly. Once for the control panel not working(unable to arm the system) and False alarms. I have had to unplug, turn off, remove batteries, install batteries, reboot the System multiple times. My question is what if something actually happens and we need a system to do its job like to report a burglary or a fire... I guess if someone is about to break in I should stop them and ask them to wait a few minutes so I can reboot the system so I will notify the police. We switch from Guardian protection Who we had for many years and have never had any issues. read more

I call to cancel service today and was told I could have canceled 18 months ago but they would not make my request retroactive even though they admitted they neglected to tell me. So I've paid them an additional $1300 over my contract and they won't refund it. If one of their reps shows up on your property let the dogs off the chain and run them off!! Shady business! Don't no engage! They caught us as new homeowners moving into our house. The sales man was very pushy and fast talking. We committed to a system not fully understand what we were getting into. First off- 5 year contracts! Way too long and expensive. For $2600 , i received two cameras, door sensors, and a motion detector. For half the price, I could get double the products through any department store. First issue- my bill was doubled after negotiating with the sales person. I called customer service, and thankfully, the recording was present where I was promised the rate I was not receiving. That was corrected. Second- while my house was armed, someone broke into my car in the driveway. The camera picked them up but did not notify me or The company. The best explanation from the company was an "Equipment malfunction" and could give me a month off the service fee for the inconvenience. To make matters worse, YOU CAN NOT SAVE THE VIDEOS RECORDER ON YOUR PROPERTY UNLESS YOU BUY MORE PRODUCTS! Third- After told this, I wanted to cancel, but it's a loan with the bank, not a payment plan with the company. You have to completely pay of the equipment before you can even cancel the service. That was my next issue. I was told at the POS I could cancel the service at anytime and just pay off the equipment . The customer service line told me different. I asked them to review the recording the same way they did earlier and she said "someone would have to get back with me". The equipment is over priced. The doorbell camera has an issue Atleast once a week. Trying to communicate with customer service is a nightmare. The company has no intentions of looking out for you once you sign your contract. I had a break in about a week ago and just so happened my camera did not work (no lights nor did the alarming noise go off) . Paying for a service that does not do what it's advertised as. Mind you the cameras are super sensitive and goes off anytime someone steps onto my property. Vivent promised to run an investigation and had not responded to me since. I'm extremely disappointed as again these services were marketed and advertised to deter crime. Outstanding! We have had the Arlo cameras for the last three years. I changed over to Vivint 3 months ago, and I could not be happier. The wall screen is incredible, it not only looks cool, but also works great. We can now unlock and lock the front door, open the garage, turn lights on and off, and rely on Google Home to make adjustments for us if needed. The cameras are so fast and responsive when pulling them up on the app. No more lag time for trying to see what is happening at our home. We received a visit from Brian Ravit on July 7,2017 soliciting the Vivint Alarm system. He began the conversation stating " if we were selected for a show house we would not have any cost to purchase" after agreeing we found that we indeed will pay over 3000.00 over the next few year which we expected but still not as he marketed. Due to the recent purchase of our home we did not want to run a credit check to finance so Vivint accepted to keep the account in house. Within 1 hour a technician was conveniently in our area so arrived to install the system. He did not have all the options we chose and scurried around until literally 1:00am (we had to work the next morning by 8) and left with a return date to complete the install. The tech (Isaiah) was supposed to return to complete the install but overslept and we were not notified until and hour late when he arrived (we called) and once again scurried around without testing much or showing me how to run the system. From this day forward we have had the assistant manager and manager in on two different occasions. The assistant manager chiseled our door to insert one of the keypads instead of installing the circular one that the door was predrilled for. The manager Dave was the most thorough. He came in for almost 6 hours on a Saturday (over two weeks now from the date of install). He tested everything and finally went through the entire system with us. With everything finally working and feeling hopeful, Dave provided us an extended 3 days to fully test the system. Low and behold by the following Saturday after our testing period ended our cameras are offline and the system continuously errors. We cannot run the thermostat through our app or main module and haven't been able to from day one for more than 24 hours. I have repetitively asked if we have a bad main module or other equipment. We contacted Bryan and told him enough is enough and we want the system out of our home. It will not stay running, we removed the Alexa and 4 weeks later have not received a revised contract as promised, we received a call back from corporate to hear what we had to say, told we'd get a call back, and never received a resolution. Though we were told we had more than enough internet signal in my home (I'm a IT specialist) we now are told we need to add another modem. (We have 4 different network channels to connect to). We also are one of many neighbors who received letters to remove the Vivint signs from our yard as they were NOT given permission from HOA to be in our neighborhood or place the signs in yards as we were advised by Bryan. Two weeks of cameras being offline and still asking if we have bad equipment I finally reached e tech support rep who within ten minutes tested our system and verified we indeed have a bad main module. Many of these issues have since been resolved but the cameras go off line all the time. We finally received the new contract to remove Alexa but now they are charging us for the 99.00 install which was initially waved so we refuse to sign it and have continuously responded to them for this with no acknowledgment that they are scamming money. Finally our neighbors recently lost everything due to a fire started in their home specifically stated by the fire department that is was caused by a faulty install of their Vivant system. In short this is the absolute worst system, unqualified installation, horrible customer service, scammers, and highly recommend that you don't buy into it. read more

We just paid thousands of dollars for a home security system with motion sensors. We have on motion sensor that has gone off twice for no reason. My husband asked for a technical to come out and we got an e-mail giving us a phone number to call. My husband calls the number and gets someone who is very hard to understand. My husband asks for a technician to come out and the guy tells him they will not send one out but turns and says if they send one out we have to pay for it. I wish I had read the previous reviews before purchasing my system. I too had Brian Ravit at my house in September telling me its a free system then charging me. The idea of the technology is cool but it is unstable. camera's go out all the time, panels stop connecting. I have had 3 service calls in the last 3 months with something wrong. The customer services folks try to help over the phone but plan on a 45 minute call. When that doesn't work, they'll send a technician out but only for $49. No warrantee after 120days! They're invoicing department is awful. After agreeing to their financing, a month later they charge the equipment to my credit card. After getting the credit card company to remove it, they do it again! After that is fixed, they add a mysterious $103.89 past due charge and start calling me daily. But these are only the collection people. They can't do anything about the account. They have to forward you to billing. After talking to them on 5 different occasions, i still get daily calls. I've forwarded them to the Attorney General who has agreed to take the case. read more

When we started this service it was known as APX and bought through a door to door salesman who sold us a 3 year contract. Little did we know we were locked into a 5 year contract when we tried to end it 2 years ago when we moved to a new house and used ADT and wanted to use ADT for the previous home that we were setting up as a rental. We weren't happy with that but we had to deal with it or pay 2 years worth of payments. So here we are 2 years later and the AC unit on our rental which we are now trying to sell gets stolen and our AC company suggests we get an alarm system that hooks up outside but can also be wired into an existing internal security system. When we called Vivint to get this set up they refused to install the system, stating we were being scammed and they would not process our request. ADT was more than happy to do the job, install additional glass break sensors in our home and hook up the AC alarm and all for the same monthly cost as Vivint. Now, after we had them install everything we called to cancel our services with Vivint only to find out they had auto renewed our contract for a year. Ironically the lady on the phone stated the information we recieved before was wrong and that they would be happy to install that external system for us so we wouldn't have to end our services.
