The equipment functions most of the time, but we've had struggles. Our camera doorbell housing broke. The tech asked if we wanted a new one since it was under warranty, or he could GLUE IT BACK TOGETHER! New one, please! Trying to reach someone to get customer support is such a time suck. And they have to transfer and transfer and transfer and call this number instead blah blah blah. We're going to suck it up for a bit and try to finish our stupidly long contract, or not. If you don't mind being "owned" by and utterly dependent on a single provider for everything; and never want to install anything yourself in order to save some money, but rather don't mind having to pay for a service technical call for every little thing; then Vivint *might* make sense for you. My smart door-lock never works correctly. I called Vivint to fix the problem. They send a new part for my old Address (I don't live there for more than a year). Because of that I never received the new part. Now Vivint stop my access to my cameras, because they are charging me $230 for the equipment. This is ridiculous. I want to make a formal complaint about, the installation of my camera upgrades and re-activation of my services. The upgrades occurred on June 7,2024 with new Doorbell camera and Garage camera, I noticed that the doorbell camera wasn't ringing when pressed and did not have event history. So, I called to state what was going on to customer service. They scheduled to have a Vivint come and trouble shoot. His conclusion was a bad doorbell camera. He called to see if he could replace the camera but Vivint required me to pay for some type of protection plan. My question and complaint is the doorbell camera isn't even 30 days old and its already malfunctioning. So is it Vivint's policy to install faulty products to ensure customers have to sign up for the protection plan? The customer service department is very unprofessional and very unorganized. I had to call up to four different times just to cancel my one month trial period. I did not want to do business with a company that all my first experiences were bad. Thats just an indication of whats in store for the future had I kept their service. If I could leave no stars I would. We have had the service about a year. We are in the process of moving and attempted to cancel our service, was informed that you can only cancel your service WITHIN THE FIRST 3 DAYS. What kind of trial period is that. We were under the impression the equipment was rented and could be returned at any point. In order to cancel service they want you to pay the equipment back in total prior to processing your cancellation. Months later- we are attempting to contact them just to get the equipment uninstalled so we can move out. It takes over 2 weeks for us to get in contact with someone in customer service. We attempted 10+ phone calls, at one point the automated prompt told us "we had called too many times" and would just hang up. Mind you, this is the same line that you can to cancel false alarms, but if you call too much, sorry you're not getting through to anyone. We attempted to chat online with someone since phone calls weren't working. Was told these uninstallment appointments must be done over the phone and explained my situation, I asked if I could speak to a supervisor or file a complaint and was told "no." 0/10 recommend Vivint solely based on their customer service and difficulty in contacting people when needed. read more

Very disappointed in this company. While the system itself may be good, and perfect for some...it wasn't for us. A salesman with his wife came to our door shortly after we moved in to our brand new home. Things were chaotic and we told him. You would think he would say, "let me come back another time". But no...he just wanted a minute of our time which turned in to 20 minutes. Long story short, we signed a contract mainly because both my fiancé and I heard we had 30 days to cancel, return equipment, and only owe for the time we had it, so we agreed. 5 days later we decided it was just more than we needed let alone more than we wanted to pay. (My job fell through) We called to cancel only to be told we had 3 days to cancel. Yes, it did say that in our contract we found out later, but we "heard" 30 days from the salesman. Regardless, do you think they would bend? Heck no! We asked to speak to a supervisor...only to be told after a long wait that there was nothing they can do. Come on....3 days? Really???? Do NOT go with VIVINT. Very disappointed in their customer service and willingness to please their customers. Called to cancel, and basically couldn't because they were too busy trying to find out if they could service the new house, who bought the old house, everything but cancel my service. The employees have no ability to think, they can only read the script. Had to jump through hoops to get the service cancelled. And they are still billing me for nothing. Horrible Customer Service! Technician called me and was rude from the start of the call. Lack of customer service skills were obvious. The issue started as the technician advised me I had no sensors on my account although I ordered them with my system. I asked how could we solve this? I was advised to call Vivint customer service. After calling customer service, they advised that the senors had been removed when the new work order was created, however, they would add it back on. They advised that the technician should of called them, not advise the customer to do so. Then, I notice the cost of my service had gone up. It appears they are now charging me a different fee for the equipment and service, than originally offered. Since they do not provide you with a good faith estimate or copy of your order when you place the order, I feel they switch things up when they actually come out to do the installation. Basically, they sold me on one price, then removed equipment and tried to charge me an even higher price. Next, the technician ask me to text a copy of my id. I asked if the text was going to Vivint. The tech stated no, it is going to their personal phone. This was a red flag to me as Vivint never advised me of this procedure. I called Vivint back and ask them about this policy, and the person stated that he never heard of it. I declined to text a copy of my ID to the technician and the technician left and stopped responding to my calls. All-in-all, my order was wrong as a result of Vivint, and I was never advised of a policy of texting a copy of my id to the technician's personal phone. Also, Vivint uses a bait-and-switch tactic. We are moving and wanted to be hooked up at our new home, 1 person quoted$24.99, she switched us to someone else, and they said it will be over $1000 to install and they couldn't match the $24.99. A door to door salesman sold my wife a security system. The salesman told her it would be one price, not what we were charged. He also said there was a 7 day trial period and wrote it down on the little sales pitch he gave to her. I called 4 days after when I found out we were charged more than represented, and the monthly service fee was ridiculous. I was told we only had 3 days to cancel, I relayed what we were told and even emailed a copy of the sales pitch to the customer service representative. They said we couldn't cancel and all they could do is reduce out monthly payment, and to actually cancel, we would have to contact their salesman and get him to admit in writing he said we had a 7 day trial. Salesman won't return a text or call. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told it wasn't necessary because they would give the same information. I contacted the Texas Attorney General's office and found they have already been sued for similar trade practices in 2017 by the state of Texas. I would not recommend even opening the door, and if you have been scammed by them, report them to the Texas Attorneys General's website. read more

You will regret it forever if you buy anything from these Mormon scam artists. Here are the facts: 1) They sell their "equipment" for literally 4 times the normal retail price for the same item on Amazon. 2) After 30 days they will replace a defective part but will charge you labor to do it and are NOT responsible if they damage anything doing it. 3) The "agreement" is in 3point type and totally for them and totally against the client. I copied it and put in a MS Word doc and, with normal margins, it is 21 pages long... all stating you get nothing more than some mediocre equipment installed and a monthly bill of at least $50 a month. 4) The motion activated "security" cameras rarely, if ever, activate when someone walks in their line of site. By rarely, I mean almost never! You can buy a system that will do more than they offer for a few hundred dollars from Amazon, Sam's Club, or Costco. The new systems from these retailers offer 4k HD cameras instead of the grainy 780p cameras from Vivint. The new technology systems offer two way voice through the cameras, instant notice to your phone when cameras are triggered, cloud recording, and even door and interior motion sensors. SUMMARY... if you buy Vivint be SURE you get the special vasaline lube add-on for the "service" (see animal husbandry) you are going to get. read more

Well according to my cancellation form you guys provide, if the system isn't pulled within 20 days it's not my responsibility... "well if you don't call it won't get canceled" what... I did my part. Someone needs to call me to get their stuff. Whatever I call. They send someone out immediately the next day. This guy is trying to take equipment that was already installed prior to me signing up with Vivint. He's asking for some box in my closet.... I tell him there is no utility box on my wall in my closet... he tells me there should be. Well there isn't... I hope I wasn't being charged for that.. well the equipment is gone. 17 days later MY CARD IS CHARGED AGAIN... I cannot make this up. I reach out to someone for help. Frustrated barely captures what I am when it comes to Vivint. I am not surprised at the rating that I saw when I logged into my account on Yelp. I must admit that I was hoping to see better reviews because that would mean that there is hope for out experience with Vivint improving. :( I have been with Vivint since July of 2017. I have NEVER been satisfied with my service. The equipment has been inconsistent and their service model is terrible. Each time you call, you have to waste your time troubleshooting with them. While they work to not need a technician to come out and service you, I spend so much time with them that I feel that I should be compensated for my time. I have had cameras, doorbells, and batteries in my panel replaced. The technicians vary in experience and cannot even agree on how our home should have been setup, given that our newly constructed home was hardwired for security. While Vivint is supposedly the leader in technology, I am failing to see why they are so successful. At this point, I feel trapped because we paid so much for the equipment and I would hate to have to press reset on that sunk cost. To the best of your ability, steer clear of Vivint. read more

I have had this security system in my home since October of 2017. We have had 3 new Sky panels, 3 new door bells, a thermostat removed, and the system still is defective. We have had 4 technicians come and work on the system snd the last one got frustrated and left. Don't buy this system it is expensive and the monthly payment is high. You will be forever resetting the door bell camera and it still won't record when you get guest or intruders. There are much better systems.
