If I hear a loud noise I can check thru the cameras instead of sticking my face out of the door or window. & I catch funny videos of my outside But this is the 3rd time something happens to either mine or my neighbors car and there is no video of it. They were outside of my fence (maybe 20 feet away) and there is no record of it. However, they are very responsive when an alarn does go off and they call me right away. This company sucks. According to them I'm always late on my payment. I'm late at the beginning of the month, middle of the month, end of the month when payment is due. They want $53, I pay $73 and still not good enough today I had to pay $53 from my card and they got $73 from my bank today. Done that 3 times this year and I'm still late. We've had Vivint for approximately 4 months and are disappointed with them. The biggest problem is the alarm goes off,even after disarming it. I would call for service but the company charges for everything. The customer service sucks! We had ADT before and it was the same crap. My experience with Vivint has been nothing short of frustrating. Their customer service is extremely poor, and their retention tactics are borderline unethical. I recently posted a review for this company and their lack of customer service and incompetencey. Well yesterday this company began to harass us over their records showing a $342 balance on our account. When I called to question this billing, I was told it was an additional charge for adding a smoke alarm detector attached to their system. I had already told John Green, the salesman that I did not want this service. However, he informed me, it was part of the bundle and we were required to accept this detector. Now I find out he lied and we are getting charged an additional $342 for this detector. Don't do business with John Green, he is a crook and lies about what is included to pump up the money you are paying out. Absolute nightmare to work with. Here's my experience: When I am unknowingly entered into a 4 year contract due to my name being copied and pasted, then shrunk down to fit into an incomplete contract form (no signatures where there should be in every other box on form), there is something insanely shady and illegal going on! I would never, knowingly, sign into something that long when I know my job transfers me every couple of years. DO NOT SIGN WITH THEM. If you need a reliable security company that doesn't scam you into contracts that you'll find out you were entered in after a year and a half of loyal service, (and then tell you that you're SOL), go to ADT first. read more

3 year contracts? Crazy, but we did it anyway. The system seems nice and I like the integrated touch panel screens, but that's where it ends. The price went up almost immediately even though I had verified the static price with the agent when we signed up. I had him circle it and sign it, as well as call in to verify with Vivint over the phone. It didn't matter. They told me later that an agent's signature doesn't mean anything... SO, their representatives in the field make promises that can never be upheld by the company? Great. After about a year we lost our key fob. I called to have it replaced. $25 for a new one is what I was told. WHAT? So we didn't get a new one. After 3 years I cancelled. Or so I thought. I was told that the account was cancelled in June, but that I should call back in a week or two to verify. WHAT? Why does the customer need to call back and verify that the account is closed? Shouldn't I get an email acknowledging that the account is closed? Well, I called back and was assured it was closed. THEN, lo and behold I was charged in July. I called back and they went through the process of retention and haggled. Finally they refunded the money to my account and closed my account. OR so I thought. In August I was charged again. I called back and went through the damn process again! This time they cancelled and refunded and I closed my debit card at the bank so they can't debit money again! Pain in the ass for me and their customer service is horrendous. Anytime an email is sent there is no confirmation email saying they received anything. Then, when you call, they have plausible deniability that you ever sent anything. AND, if you sent it a week ago, they tell you it takes two weeks. If you sent something two weeks ago, they tell you it takes a month, and so on. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT sign a contract with this company! read more

When he called in to do so they told him that they would have to change the control panel (which was brand new) and charge him $500 unless he signed a new 3 year contract instead of taking over mine. I've had Vivint for almost 5 years now and I am so much happier with them than I ever was with ADT. I've only had to call tech support twice this entire time, once for questions about the upgrade, and just recently for my garage door opener. Both times, customer service and tech support were friendly and very helpful. This last call resulted in the need to change out the garage control due to a recall. They came out at my convenience, and at no expense to replace the box and took less than 15 min. Afterward he rechecked my system, had me check it from both by panel and phone, and ensured we didn't have any questions or any other issues or concerns. . I've referred 3 other people and 1 business to Vivint and they have all been as pleased with the products and service that I have. read more

I've never had any issues with my cameras or security, Vivint definitely gets the job done right the first time. Update: I was finally able to get a customer service representative that listened to me. After multiple technicians came out, they finally replaced my panel and upgraded my system. Since my mishaps last year the service has improved and they now call our phone number when needed. I have not had to deal with their customer service department as of late, so I cannot speak to their customer relations, but I will say they did go the extra mile to try to fix the situation... and for that I'm moving the review to a 3 star from 1 star. Old: This is by far the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. I have only had their service for two weeks and I have already run into multiple barriers with this company. Not only have they dropped the ball multiple times as far as the security aspect of their service is concerned, but their customer service is rude and unhelpful. When my alarm goes off, they do not come over the intercom to speak to me. They call my father instead of me when the alarm goes off. And they do not ask for a passcode they just take the word of whoever answer the phone. In the past two weeks I have spent multiple hours on the phone with their customer service being transferred from representative to representative with little to no resolution to my issues. Finally, after being fed up with absolute incompetence, I requested that my service be canceled after only two weeks of business. They refused and told me that they do not cancel contract under any circumstances. I was essentially told to go fly a kite. I highly suggest you do not use this service as you will not get your moneys worth. They are the most expensive security company on the market and they by far the worst service I've ever seen. Once I send in my orders I would be good. Fast forward 3 years and I am still fighting with them over billing. A sales rep knocked on our door because he saw we were in the middle of having ADT installed. He assured me we wouldn't like ADT while the ADT installer was wrist-deep in my wall setting things up. "You'll see. And when you realize you don't like it call me." Persistent and IMHO, incredibly rude. I don't care what brand does my security, but we did research and chose ADT, so give your consumer some credit. I decided to write something on Yelp but before I had the chance the guy came BACK two days later asking if I had done research on Vivint and decided I didn't like ADT. Yes, in two days we've had several break-ins and decided we didn't like ADT's response. What?! I said no thank you several times while he badgered me to watch a video and disparaged his competitor (in very poor taste-if your business is better it should be reflected in customer satisfaction and not by you telling me the business I selected is "old school" and terrible). I mentioned a rep for Vivint had come knocking to the ADT installer and he said it happens sometimes, but didn't knock the competition, just mentioned they often sign customers for 5 year contracts, which I see reflected in the reviews. If I do decide I don't like ADT, I will NOT be switching to Vivint. Based on business practice alone, they get a firm NO from me. read more

Vivint does not seem prepared for Business applications. They invariably referenced the business application as a home install. Their smartphone app uses the word "home". Installers do not have outside plant materiel to complete outside camera installation. Low-voltage wiring, not suitable for outside plant - was used for outside plat power to camera, and metal screws were used in the original installation to torque-wrap the wire around. This resulted in shorting the power to two of four cameras and a return tech visit. Cameras were placed in Freznel zones between the building concrete walls and the Vivint Access Point, resulting in bad RF reception and cameras being offline 80-100% of the time. Second tech elevated the cameras outside the Freznel Zone and reception improved but not without owner providing elevation to the Vivint WiFi Extender with proprietary connection to Vivint Cameras. A second Vivint-proprietary WiFi Extender was requested for the two sets of cameras and second Techs indicated policy or technical reasons ( not sure ) limited installation to one and only one. Elevation and power solutions for the single Vivint-proprieary WiFi extender were provide by the business owner which resulted in 90+% signal strength but video backhaul from the panel to the access point was randomly unreliable on any 3 of 6 camera. A recordning from Vivint Customer service appears to indicate they are (were) having video backhaul issues and to "update" panel software to the latest version ( did not help). I requested outside plant power on a 5th tech visit and he indicted "management" was willing to update outdoor cameras to hardwire backhaul into the premises. After the business owner prepared access for wiring, Tech #6 indicated Vivint was "not going to upgrade cameras". At that point it seemed Vivint had no intention of ever trying to meet an acceptable contractual service level for the business application. read more

Vivint Security does not take care of military families. My husband was in the field training when the Vivint rep came to see if we were interested in getting their security features installed. He explained how great they are for military families, how easy it would be to cancel or take with us when we moved, etc. The equipment overall worked and we were mostly pleased with it, only minor glitches. My husband got back home and received orders that he would be deploying to Germany. I am not from El Paso, so I'm returning home while he is deployed. We called to have the service cancelled in the home we were renting, and they gave us an option to pay out or continue the FIVE YEAR CONTRACT I was never told about. Since my husband's orders were in before the installation date, even though they had not been given to him and we had no idea he was about to deploy, they refused to cancel the service. As much as they advertise being all for military families, it is a complete joke. They're just trying to take advantage of people. read more

Installed my Vivint system in 2017 and had every product installed minus smoke alarm which i will get sometime in summer 2019..Initially the doorbell/camera had a little connectivity issue that was resolved in about 2 Months after the initial installation. Sometime i have to reboot the system (2x per year) which takes about 20 mins but thats where it ends. i'm guessing that all home web based security systems must be rebooted from time to time. I paid for all my equipment up front and i avoided any contracts and only pay $21.00 per month for self monitoring..I do have the "Space Monkey" which records 30 days of video/Audio which i can refer to anytime, So i feel i really don't need the company to do it for me for $50 or $60 per month besides my system texts me if any emergency arises... I love my Vivint system and I do think its a bad ass system to have and i have recommended it to my son and he is happy with his system... The only thing i do recommend to have is, aside from Vivint system to ensure connectivity is a great whole house wireless service like "Linksys mesh system" or "Orbi System" and ISP internet speeds of at least 100 mbps.. read more

Aggressive sales people. They came around asking my wife to get their system. About the same time someone was doing strange things in the neighborhood. Upon my return the rep showed up. I also informed him we don't want the service but he kept on knocking on the door. I had to call the police to get him to leave, also reported the strange activity. The Vivint sales people don't come around and the strange turning of door knobs and activities have come and gone at the same time. This company is known for sales tactics of Indonesian pirates. I wish I didn't even have to give them one star. Where should I begin?? They harass the living crap out of you every single day. I've had one walk up to us while my husband and I were bickering, saying "this will only take a minute" as we stared red faced at each other. If you think our bickering in the garage is bad, you should have seen all of that frustration concentrated and multiplied in her direction. She still tried! She wasn't the first or only one. We had one approaching us as we were getting in our car to leave, asking us where we were going and when we'd be back. He came back three hours later, minutes after our car pulled into the driveway. He slick-talked my husband into thinking their company gives a crap about the military, and he decided that we should get their services. They still harassed us! Seriously, can't you see your ugly orange sign in my yard?! Mind you, we already had the prewire alarm that was originally installed. It wouldn't go to fire services or the police if the alarm went off, but it would alert the neighbors and scare the piss out of someone. And it was FREE! Our alarm has went off twice: once when I was opening the bedroom window at 3 in the morning right after we got it (didn't know it was armed), the second when my husband opened a trash bag in front of the glass break sensor. We have the energy saver package and a glass break monitor added to our package. Let me tell you, the energy saver package DOES NOT save you anything! Its a new thermostat with a box of lightbulbs. The lightbulbs they gave me only fit in three sockets in my house, and when I told them that, they said they would come back with a smaller size. Yeah, 14 months later and still waiting on that. Vivint said it's not their problem. The glass break is a joke. When they were installing it, they said it would go off if any glass in the house broke. After later doing research, we realized we wasted money on something that only works on 2, maybe three windows in the entire house. They also rope service members in with the promise of a military clause to help them out of the unrealistically long contract in the case of a PCS. Nope! You move, you either pay your way out of your contract or take your services with you. If you choose the latter, you have to pay moving charges. No worries though! If you decide to torture yourself with on-post housing and waste your BAH at your next duty station, they will honor your contract cancellation. However, to lie about the military clause and rip it out from under us when that is the only reason we purchased the service in the first place under their almost 4 year contract (they didn't give any shorter options) is ridiculous. They also harass your emergency contacts. My mom has gotten 3 or 4 calls from them asking her to purchase their home protection, and we never gave them permission to use them, nor would we. Even the representative herself said that was wrong of them when I called to complain. I've filed a BBB complaint and they even lied in that! BBB favors the business when they reply enough though, even if it is lies. I've contacted the Texas Attorney General as well, since they are in violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act of Texas. I'm fighting tooth and nail to get out of our contract now, but if it doesn't happen you can guarantee I will not be renewing the contract with them. Any time I see them in my neighborhood I warn the people they are harassing to stay far, far away. This company needs to be blacklisted from the military and booted out of Texas. Louisiana was smart enough to do it! They tried to run from their bad name, but they can't hide! They're formerly known as APX.
