(Phew!) They also have this fantastic back section dedicated to bulk foods. (Think LSA mix, fruits, nuts, flaxseed meal, seeds and other natural goodies.) Be sure to try out their range of made to order fresh juices as well as the yummy organic takeaway lunches (vegan and gluten free!) The mature-aged female pharmacist discusses extremely sensitive and confidential information about patient prescriptions openly and loudly in front of other customers, takes it upon herself to contact prescribing doctors without patient consent in order to discuss very clear dispensing guidelines provided by the prescribing doctor (keeping in mind she is NOT a doctor), and she incorrectly dispenses smaller amounts of prescription medication than the doctor has authorised, presumably as an act of spite for being called-out on her unprofessional behaviour. It's her job to do as the doctor says--not recklessly alter the prescription. This behaviour constitutes misconduct. Accordingly, I have contacted the pharmacy registration board for an investigation into this person. Also, there's another person who works for this pharmacy, a mature-aged woman named 'Megan'. 'Megan' is not a pharmacist or doctor, yet pretends to be. I have contacted the pharmacy a number of times to discuss prescriptions that my treating doctor emails and faxes to this pharmacy. On a number of occasions, 'Megan' has demanded to know what medications I am taking and has claimed to 'know exactly what that medication is'. She has also demanded to know exactly when medication is going to be picked-up, despite knowing that I suffer from severe chronic illness, and consequently, am relying on the goodwill of a close friend to collect them on my behalf--therefore, I cannot provide 'exact times'. This type of person could cause serious harm to someone who believes her to be in possession of skills and qualifications that she does not have in the event that they misconstrue her advice for that of a professional. Give this pharmacy a very wide berth if you value your own and your family's health.

Turns out, Coorparoo is pretty well equipped. And if I recall rightly, West End doesn't have an organic butcher. Watch out--Coorparoo could be the next big thing! Allsop and England is a fantastic little butcher and everything in there is organic except the cheerios. Most of their meat comes from an organic grower in Roma and their chicken from an organic free range grower in Murgon, so you can be sure that your meat isn't travelling too far. They not only sell all your regular cuts of meat beef, lamb and pork, but also do a few things out of the ordinary like goat and duck. We bought a whole duck from there the other day and roasted it--amazing. The prices are reasonable, in fact really reasonable considering it's organic. I'd say it's definitely cheaper than buying Coles organic meat, for example. With so few organic butchers around, I would make a special trip just to go to this butcher. In fact, I'd like to make a habit of it.

I'll keep to the basics which are said as simply as this: ORGANIC MEAT IS GOOD FOR YOU, THE ANIMAL, AND THE FARMER. SHOP HERE. ALL THE TIME. START TODAY. Allsop and England also like to keep it local too. You'll see the signs proudly exclaiming that they like "to keep it Australian". Most of their meat comes less than 10 hours driving distance away in Queensland, and so, in the grand scheme of things, these guys are really keeping it close to home. They don't really do 'fancy' here. They've got all your classic cuts, and meats, but nothing too over the top or flashy. They don't need to draw you in using tricks. They're local, they're organic. What more do you want? I am ecstatic to report that the prices are no more expensive than what you'd find at Coles or any other non organic butcher. Are you reading this properly? At Allsop and England, you essentially pay less to eat better meat. I hope I've made my point clear. This is your new butcher. But, having been plagued by terrible stomach pain whenever I eat lunch, I came in here seeking some advice. And the lovely manager of the store spent an age talking me through the causes, and her recommendations for what might help me. She sounded as clued up as any doctor. There was a brand of digestion pill that she thought I should take which they'd run out of, but she told me where else I could get it from in the meantime. Yes, I did leave with a bag full of pills and a much emptier bank account (being healthy ain't cheap). But guess what? It worked. And you can't argue with that.

I've been shopping there for around a year and it never fails me if I'm looking for something a little bit special with the guarantee that it's made with the Earth in mind. From the choose-your-own-colour Keep Cups to the beautiful giftware from Paper Boat Press, this store is teaming with gorgeous gifts and home wares. Even if the receiver is not hugely "eco" it's always nice to know you have purchased something that's helping the environment. The store in the CBD is big and friendly and the staff have always been more than happy to answer any questions I have for them. I've also utilised their website many times for tips to save energy and water around the house. If you tend to get the guilts about consuming and harming the environment, then Biome can certainly help. Not only that, it's a lovely shopping experience and has a good turnover of stock so there's always something new to look at.

Less than a year old, and conveniently located on 198 Wynnum Road (Next to Active Life Fitness), this little shop stocks everything you need in terms of supplements. All kinds of protein powders, "muscle gainers", fat loss supplements, creatines, "pre workouts", as well as your basic gym wear. Baily, the owner and operator was really helpful in advising me of which product I should buy. I explained that I wasn't really into becoming the next Mr Olympia, but more about ensuring my protein intake throughout the day was enough to keep the muscles "repairing" and "growing", whilst maintaining a leaner physique. I was interested in a "Whey Protein Isolate" (WPI), and was drawn to the amazing price of a "100% pure WPI" Protein from NZ, which sells for $39.99 for 1kg. If you know anything about Protein supplements, then you'll know this is an absolute bargain! As I was concerned with the taste (this brand being "unflavoured"), Baily let me try the product, and kindly made me some in a shaker. It tasted fine. IN fact, we talked about how most other Protein powders do add "flavours" and "additives", whereas the "100% pure WPI" was all natural. I also asked about Creatine Monohydrate, and again, Baily explained to me what Creatine is, what it does, its benefits, etc. He recommended another pure, natural product from Germany, which I decided to also purchase. I appreciated the fact that I didn't feel pressure at all to buy anything, or to buy a particular product/brand. I spoke to a lovely young lady named Simone who encouraged me to come in and try a protein drink they mix themselves and so I did - AMAZING!
