NOT ADA COMPLIANT OR SAFE!…read more The staff yelled at me NO PETS when I approached the check in building with my service animal. I didn't even get a word out of my mouth and they were screaming at me through the glass. I explained she's a service animal and offered to show my proof (even though it contains personal medical information.) I attempted to educate them on ADA compliance, reassured them that she is well behaved , house broken, and wouldn't be a problem. The man just kept screaming no pets, wouldn't listen to a word I said. The ironic part is that their yelling triggered me into hyperventilating and having a panic attack. My service animal calms my breathing during a panic attack so I don't pass out or endanger myself. Bottom line - DO NOOOOOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!! It's NOT worth risking your life and not worth having to deal with the mean men that run the place. $90 a night to stay on a block full of *lizards* and P's and trash and homeless folks. No offense to the members of the community in the area, we all gotta get in where we fit in. Much love. Check out my review for the mcds around the corner, a man casually dropped a bomb in the parking lot just steps away from me. The parking lot and the street was full of ppl and nobody cared!!! It's lawless out there! Don't go!!!!

Alright, this is gonna be long. TL;DR at the bottom. I want to start by saying this is a motel…read more This is not a hotel. This is not a bed and breakfast. This is not a cute little roadside inn. This is a *motel*. If your idea of a motel is the Travelodge on the good side of town, this is not for you. Its not cute, chic, vintage, or cozy. Its a motel. This is not somewhere you take your family because you are trying to spend a little less. This is where you stay when you accidently spent all your money on LSD on your "find yourself" road trip. This review keeps all of this in mind. This place was entirely adequate. Its was fine. It provided everything that I can expect of a motel. It has a bed, a shower, a tv, and a toilet. This place has not been remodeled since like, 1995. There were holes in the walls, shower was taped up, deadbolt had to be finessed to work, and stains on some stuff. None of this mattered to me because its a motel. The couple that runs it were very sweet. A few reviews said they are rude, and they are not rude at all, they are very to the point, no small talk people, but very nice. We said we were checking in, they said "Okay, $50 deposit:", we paid that, and they said "Here's your key and room number". Not rude at all, just not all small talky. There is a $50 cash deposit. Cash only. I don't really know what its for, because they gave it back to us before they checked the room. A few reviews mentioned bed bugs. There was not evidence of a single bug anywhere in the room. Not bed bugs, not roaches, not spiders, not even a fly. Another review said that pest control was out often, and when you get there you are greeted with a notice saying they have to spray for citrus aphids. There is an outbreak right now (as for me posting this) in a lot of places of the country. They are not poisonous, I didn't see a single one, and tbh, wouldn't have cared if I did. They are aphids. I guess maybe be aware if you own an orchard. In fact, I was so worried about bed bugs I actually pulled their health department history. They don't have a single bug or cleanliness related citation in the past 4 years, and that was as far back as the history went. They don't have bed bugs, I promise. The location is fine if you are used to cities, if you are not its terrifying. The first night there was a full on catfight screaming match between two women who, as far as I can tell, were dating the same man. They were loud enough to keep me up, but not so loud that I could hear the whole story. They got kicked out after about 30mins. The second night, someone decided to set off fireworks outside our window. Yes, really. It was not gunshots. It was very clearly fireworks. Outside our window. They also got kicked out pretty quickly. As for the inside, it was fine. Some holes, some duct tape, mismatched sheets, a few stains on the walls. Everything was extremely clean though. The furniture didn't match, but nothing was wrong with it. If you are an adult or couple just passing though for a night this is fine. It's loud. It's ugly. It's fine. It's a motel. TL;DR: Its ugly, old, loud, and kinda broken, but it's clean, there are no bugs, and it's fine. You gotta finesse the door to get it to lock, there was some tape and stains, and there is a $50 cash deposit. It's a motel.

While I was purusing, I heard the sales associates helpiing others with book searches and book club information. It sounds like they have a number of book clubs going at the same time which makes me green with envy. Somebody please open a bookstore like this in Santa Clarita Valley, Ca.! At the time of my visit there was a children's reading event going on in the children's section. There were young adults picking out their spring break reads. There is also a courtyard and coffee shop somewhat attached. I did not try the coffee, but will the next time I am in Manhattan Beach. This is a charming bookstore, well designed, with sooo many staff picks and recommendations. Make sure to pay them a visit when you are in the area. And if you live close by, I hate you :) I paid to park on the street very close to the shop, however there may be other parking I am not sure. Happy Reading!

The staff are so helpful in finding exactly what you need and chatting about the books, or letting you browse quietly if that's what you'd prefer. I also wanted to shoutout their online ordering system; I ordered a book that wasn't available due to shipping issues, and their staff reached out to me right away to reimburse me and present some other selections. Excellent customer service!

Many clubs are just girls, and I only know of 1 boys only team. I have a son in the Beach Cities Volleyball Club which is both a boys and girls club.  This review is for the indoor Beach Cities Volleyball Club (BCVC) BOYS program. My son is starting his third season with his third coach. My son has played against and attended some camps of the other clubs in the region, and this is a quick list of BCVC strengths. 1. No other club comes anywhere near offering as much playing opportunities when including practices, camps, and clinics. 2. BCVC is by far the best value when looking a minute of court time to price. 3. Girls and boys sometimes practice at the same time, or even coed. If you are looking to create relaxed social opportunities this can be a big positive. 4. It is a non profit organization, which means you are participating in a community building organization. In all the organized team sports I have been involved in, the atmosphere the coach brings to the team is so important. In club volleyball the season is long (Sept-June), so it can be even more important. When looking around the web sites, the coaches will list their CV's. I have found that they don't always relate to bringing joy and camaraderie to the kids practice after practice. You have to see the chemistry with your son and the coach that will coach your team at the tryouts. Christian Cammayo pretty much runs the boys side of the program, and has really increased the usability of the beachcitiesvbc.com website, so it is much more useful now. The one con of the Beach Cities Club Boys (I am not familiar with the girls) vs some of the others is visibility to colleges, but this summer (2021) Christian has added a new college program with many features. I am looking forward to see how this works out. Boys volleyball is a great game that has many moments of joy in each set of each match for both sides of the court. Where ever your volleyball adventure takes you, remember the parents cheer and coaches coach.
