I'm sitting here getting my pedicure completed and I have to say this is the best pedicure experience I've had in a long time. You'd think in CA you'd get the 5 star treatment like you get here. This lady really focused on getting my cuticles 100%, massaged my lower legs, put a salt scrub on my calves/feet, then piled my legs and wrapped them with hot towels to soften! All this for $25! Ambiance: they have a screen tv on and the paint in the salon is beautiful. When you first walk in there's a beautiful crystal chandelier that hangs down. My friend and I were initially going to try expo salon but fortunately for us they were booked up and I'm so glad we found this place! I asked for a pedicure and was told to stick my feet into a tub of luke warm water; no soap, fizz, bubbles, absolutely nothing but water. After being recommended to go here for a full set I decided to give it a try. I called on Tuesday and scheduled 2 pedicures at 5pm and one of those is also getting a full set for Saturday. I was told okay no problem. Come Saturday I was pulling into the parking lot when I got a phone call at 4:54 to ask if I was going to show up for my appointment. When I said yes I am pulling into the parking lot I got hung up on. I tried to be there earlier but with leaving work and coming from the other side of the James River Bridge that was as soon as I could (which was still not late). Walk inside and was told to pick a color. I picked a color and waited. Me and my boyfriend were then seated for our pedicures. Our pedicures were going great! As I am about halfway through my pedicures a man came up and asked about me getting a full set. I shows him the design I was looking to get and the shape and he said he could do that. He then comes over with mail tips and starts putting them on as I'm still getting my pedicure. He also put the acrylic on as well. I was unable to fully enjoy my pedicure as I felt very rushed. I then did not get the shape or design that I asked for. What I asked for is the first 2 pictures (shape then design) and the last picture is what I got. Upon arrival, I noticed the place was completely empty. This should have given me a clue to the service I was about to receive. There was only one person working, a first for me in all the years I've been getting my nails done. I do a thin layer of acrylic and shellac polish every time. The salon I usually go to is closed on Wednesday's but I desperately needed a manicure. I figured it'd be ok to cheat on my normal spot one time. There are no samples of the different color gels they use. Just have to look at the bottle. The lady who did them, I believe she's the owner, was pretty gentle. I have my nails oval shaped.. She did a terrible job shaping them. Four of my nails are very oddly shaped.. And it'd obvious. Her kids came in after school with her husband. She filled my nails, filed them but her husband painted. The paint job is the worst I have EVER gotten. It looks like I painted them, not a "professional". One nail is not completely painted, all of my cuticles have polish on them and the polish bubbled. While he painted, she was getting a pedi from one of her kids. Also, half the time she worked on my nails she was on the phone. Rude and unprofessional. Highly not recommended. My usual spot is across the street, much better! read more

The man tried to convince me to get something more expensive and I said no he left me sitting there for over 30 minutes then wanted to charge me 5 dollars extra for a gel TOP COAT after I took my own polish!! I moved to this area in 2011 and had been disappointed in other establishments before finding this place. The reviews of "rude" by others are completely unfounded!! The owners are very nice and kind and I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes no matter how busy they are. They remember me when I walk in and recall conversations from my last visit. It is very clean and they are all VERY hard workers. I talked to Jimmy, the owner, and was completely humbled to hear where he came from and how he and his wife Kim have created this successful business incorporating their children in it as well. Horrible! Went in to get the new dip manicure. They said they only had a few colors bc it was new...that should have been my first clue! They took off my current dip nails then grinded my nails down to practically nothing. In the process she cut my thumb with the grinder thing and it bled a lot and is very red and sore today. I changed my mind and decided to get gel. The color I picked she couldn't find(ended up being on my friends table). So I picked another one. Two ladies worked on me. I was never offered a discount or anything for them cutting me, all they did was say sorry. On top of all this they were so so slow...we were there for two and a half hours! Freaking serious? My nails are so thin I feel like if I do anything they are gonna break I have never have gel that I felt like thay was gonna happen with. Definitely a waste of $35 since I will have to get them done when I return home since I am visiting. My friend I was with her nails look like bubbles they are so thick it's horrible not to mention her daughter got a pedicure and one of the ladies daughter did it she might have been 13/14!!! DON'T GO HERE! First I have gotten my nails done several times and I know how a gel manicure should be and this was not done correctly and now my nails are all chipped and it has just been a week. The girl was so inexperience I could tell. She would only paint two nails at a time and make me cure. This caused my thumbs to not cured like they were supposed to. I also, could tell her inexperience because other employees kept coming over to check on her! I really did not want to tip but I felt bad. Secondly, it smelt like WET DOG when I walked in. How gross! I knew I needed to leave, but I was meeting up a friend up, plus my normal lady at a different salon was visiting her mom in Vietnam. I would seriously never go back to this place. Now it's christmas and I feel like I need to go get my nails redone because of this terrible job. This should have lasted for 2 weeks at least! A couple of the daughters are very good as well, however on my last visit I had a very young, very inexperienced girl who was careless and just plain did not listen. She hurt me when trimming my toenails, but I returned since in over 2 years that had been my only bad experience. When I went back, I got the female owner and my sister unfortunately got the "Painful Pedicurist ". My sister yelled STOP 4 times and jerked her foot back because it hurt so much! This place is the worst! Their colors are old and I have watched them pour nail polish remover into ones that are too thick. Recently I got a gel manicure and the polish started chipping and lifting 2 days later. I was out of town for work and my nails looked terrible. The day after I returned home I stopped in to show them and asked if they would re-do them. Since it had been exactly a week they refused, even though they could see where the polish on every nail was lifting. I have been a client at this spa for a number of years. The owners and some of their oldest girls do a fantastic job. The younger girls are often there. They are quiet and sweet. They are a hard working family and it is obvious that their 5 daughters are learning the value of hard work and the value of a dollar. The place is spotless and their cleaning of tools thorough. Their attention to detail keeps me coming back. There is ample parking. They take you first come first served or by appointment. The hours of the shop are very convenient. They have massage chairs which really add to the relaxing experience. When having a pedicure they even massage feet and legs and provide hots towels and an envigorating scrub. This is above and beyond my past experiences at other spas.The spa offers other services as well. They are priced reasonably. I have tried other spas but have found this one to be way above average, especially the cleanliness. I look forward to my girl time at Viva Nail Spa and will remain a loyal customer. read more

Went here with a few of my friends to get mani/pedis and each of us had varying experiences. One of my friends had a girl who was very good, nice, and professional. The other two had women who got the job done and were efficient. I, on the other hand, had a horrible experience. The man who did mine was more concerned with getting the most money out of people throughout the day. He was very very careless with me, cutting my cuticles on my feet, making me bleed because he was watching the front door for new customers rather then watching what he was doing with me. He took about two seconds to paint my toes and was quite aggressive with the scrub and pumice. He also keep coughing on me. When it came time to do my nails, he would just disappear for extended periods of time to take care of other customers and just leave me sitting there without any idea of what was happening, since he barely said a word to me the entire time besides the occasional bark of an order. He clearly did not care whether or not I would ever come back since he already had my money for the day. I only give this two stars since my friends had better experiences. TERRIBLE place for a Spa Pedicure. My first and only visit went like this- I was greeted as I entered the store. I informed the gentleman-I wanted a pedicure. He then replied do you want a manicure too and I said "No", just a pedicure. He then said how about a mani and pedi? I repeated myself and said "NO, just a pedi! I picked my color and sat down at the pedi station and began soaking my feet. A older lady came over and said "you want a deluxe pedi"? I asked what is the difference and she stated "more pampering". I decided to stick with the regular pedi. For 25 dollars, I received trimmed nails, filed nails and cuticle oil on my legs, and hot towels. She then stood up got a phone and made a call. She spoke in her language and then took off the towels, tossed them in the tub and painted my toenails with only a base coat and one coat of polish. She then got up, walked away and helped someone else. She didn't wash her hands or say anything to me. Don't waste your time or money! read more
