He put me on 5 high pharma doses of Vic C drips within 2 weeks, told me I had to start eating protein/meat, ( I was a vegetarian for 25 years), and to take Vit D 5k, forever, basically. I followed his advice, and was not sick for five years. Nothing. Not even the flu, when all of my kids, (students,) and the staff were sick. Tragically, five years later, I would get this facial that was promoted in LA as, "Natural,' for skin toning. (Be careful ladies, it's a clever ruse,) and I got sick.. I could not understand why I had this three month abx resistant cough. It was from this device that turns out is a sonic nuke, and I needed steroids. I stayed in critical condition for almost 2 years, unable to get help, which resulted disability and an acquired brain injury, severe agony, and almost death. Dr. Gruenn had retired for a few years, during this time. He would have been my captain, and sent me to hospital, or a derm, and neurologist, and followed up on this, and not let me slip through the cracks as all of the other doctors did. Kaiser wanted to remove my friends stomach, and I sent him to Dr. Gruenn, just as my friend had sent me. He was in a lot of pain. Dr. Gruenn figured it out in 3 visits. It was Gluten. The hospital was about to remove a big portion of him, and he dodged that bullet, because of Gruenn, He seriously needs to be cloned. He is extremely quick and talented. I can't speak highly enough about him. Highly, highly recommend.

Apparently - When You write a Truthful review - a computer comes along and says - your review isn't…read morereal - and wipes it away - hopefully - this time - you'll be able to see my original post - of my actual experience with - Dr. Shafipour and his staff. I am a real person. :) James R. Santa Monica, CA - December 7, 2022 ... So... I was sent one of those boring questionnaires from Providence Health & Services (after a normal doctors' appointment) that was the usual sterile Q&A - 0-10 sort of things - then at the end it asked - anything else? - so I wrote the following and sharing it here for others looking for a good place for medical doctor care to... so... here you go - This is what I wrote... "Dr. Pouya Shafipour and his staff are bright, smart, polite, and always great. Mostly they are human, present when you talk to them, they aren't like this survey. They have a heart - that this survey does not. Over the years that I have seen them - they light up and we share a brief moment a connection - sure we get down to the business of medical care and things may move fast - but they keep their eyes on the details - while still being decent and maintaining humanity and compassion. There's a mic drop for ya"

Dr. Shafipour is absolutely amazing. He is extremely easy to connect with when you are having a problem and is the kind of doctor you can only dream of having. I have not felt well for many years and it has never been diagnosed so I am constantly bugging him for suggestions as to whom to see next. He is extremely patient with me and does his utmost to find answers. He once said he likes to treat his patients as he would like to be treated. Well he would certainly be treated well. There aren't enough stars for this doctor.

I am eternally grateful for Dr. Green and have no doubt in my mind that he saved my life. I…read morestruggled to find any doctor that would listen to me and take what I was telling them seriously for over 2 years while dealing with intense illness. For 9 months of that, I struggled to breathe, developed severe insomnia, anxiety, chest and back pain, weight gain, and could barely get out of bed. The decline from being the athlete I've been most of my life to being critically ill was rapid and terrifying. Dr. Green was the ONLY doctor that listened; docs at UCSD, Scripps, and UCLA all told me that they couldn't find anything wrong but also refused to do testing that could have confirmed my suspicions about what was going on. Dr. Green compassionately listened as I explained my experience, and then asked me how he could help, discussed his thoughts on my situation, and asked what direction I would like to take with my treatment. We created a plan together, taking my concerns/suspicions, test results, and his expertise into a count, and within a week, I was on the mend. A few months later, I'm in the best health I have been in over 2 years. Dr. Green is exceptionally knowledgeable on many complicated topics like mold, fungal infections, methylation, genetics, Lyme, heavy metals, etc. Not every treatment works for everyone, but he's always willing to discuss your experience and problem-solve to find the best possible outcome. I can honestly say that I have been a very complicated and demanding patient, and he has had nothing but kindness, compassion, and grace when I connect with him. His office staff is phenomenal and eternally patient/accommodating as well.

If you're looking for a doctor who will run an extensive list of tests but won't take the time to…read morethoroughly go over the results or if you're okay with minimal face-to-face time and very high out-of-pocket costs then Dr. Green's office might be a fit for you! After two separate consultations, each about two hours long, I was stunned when the doctor began our third visit by asking, "What brings you in today?" as if we hadn't already spent hours discussing my concerns. Instead of using that time to review the test results he'd ordered, he spent another 30 minutes at a cost of $350, offering little clarity. It left me with the impression that the practice is more focused on billing than on actually helping patients. I've since spoken to others who had similar experiences, so this doesn't appear to be an isolated case. I had hoped the office would have addressed this pattern by now, but unfortunately, it seems ongoing. Sharing this in hopes it helps others make a more informed decision.

Mike A Uyeki, MD - UHC says Dr. Uyeki is a Network Doctor for 2019, but this office says they are not.

Dr. Uyeki has been my GP for over 5 years, and he's the best one I've ever had. His bedside manner…read moreis fantastic. When he walks into the exam room, he always starts by asking me how life is going and recalls details I've mentioned during previous visits. He listens attentively when I tell him about symptoms I've been experiencing and plans out clear, logical steps to address them. Anytime he's referred me to be tested for something, he's followed up with me about the results within a day or two of the test. He's smart, genial, and well-connected to great specialists around LA. I totally trust him to manage my healthcare. If you live in the West LA area and are looking for a primary care physician, you can't do any better than Dr. Uyeki.

Dr. Uyeki does not take United Health Care Insurance anymore even though UHC's website for 2019…read moresays that he is in Network for 2019. The Dr. says that they have not been with UHC for years but UHC says otherwise. This doctor is very selective about the types of insurance he accepts, and the plans in each insurance company he accepts so before coming here I would first call the insurance company to confirm and then double confirm with Dr. Uyeki's office. This can change year by year so always check each Jan 1 as doctors dip in and out of insurance networks. This Office is closed on Thursdays. They speak fluent Japanese here and that clientele makes up a large part of their practice. This Dr. also does not do x-rays in office anymore but does do blood draws and then sends them out. He used to take blood and x-rays and develop them in office--no more. On my most recent annual exam in 2018 on a Friday, he called me the next day on a Saturday to say all the blood results are okay that he had results on before all were completed. By the following Monday the rest of the results were in but he did not call again to say those were okay--I suspect because there was no problem. But after looking after all the results I saw that one test was not ordered that usually is every year (PSA) so I called the office to report that and they got it tested that week. He did not call on that result, I guess because it was okay. The long and short is that with the way medicine is practiced in Los Angeles for years and the influence of Insurance Companies--you need to be very proactive and keep records to compare on your own. The blood draws here are professional and leave no mark. You have to pay for parking in this building. The staff is pleasant. If you don't have insurance, they do take cash--call and ask them for a quote. This office is part of Cedar Sinai and if they refer you it will most likely be to a Cedar doctor.
