This large facility just opened up a few months ago. Perhaps a 'soft' opening if there is such a…read morething for a medical facility, as I don't believe it's at full capacity in terms of service. This place doesn't have the word "hospital" in its name. It doesn't have an ER, and perhaps that's the condition of being called a hospital. However, if you were to see the building and it's size, you could swear it was a hospital. As far as I know it's generally an outpatient facility and according to their website: "...brings together traditional and alternative health care providers under one roof. It helps those who are ill or injured, as well as healthy individuals living with chronic conditions or needing assistance with diet, fitness or lifestyle choices." White it doesn't have an ER, it does have an urgent care centre, which brought about my visit there. I don't have a family doctor, and the smaller urgent care walk in's doctor still had not arrived, so I thought I would give them a chance. It was very quiet when I arrived there, which is actually a good thing if you're visiting a medical facility. Long story short, I was registered, seen by a doctor, had x-rays, and then had the doctor follow up with me all in just over an hour. There's no guarantees this type of service and turnaround will be the experience of others, but it was for me which is why I'd give it a perfect rating. Normally you'd wait longer at a walk in just to see a doctor, and then have to bring a referral to see a specialist (imaging) and then find out the results perhaps at another appointment. I really couldn't have hoped for better service. I don't remember the stats, but I have read that a majority of visits to the ER are generally ones that could suffice at a walk in or urgent care centre. Many in Brampton are upset at having only one ER - for a city that's 9th largest in the country. There is some validity in that frustration, but if people understand that they can be treated elsewhere from the ER, then the addition of Peel Memorial should help lift the burden. Below is a list of illnesses and injuries covered by urgent care according to their website. No doubt you've probably seen or experienced many visiting an ER for these same things. Perhaps try urgent care if you or anyone else has the same symptoms and you might even have faster attention than if you went to Brampton Civic. Visit the Urgent Care Centre for illnesses or injuries such as: Sprains, strains or broken bones Allergic reactions, skin rashes Asthma attacks Minor burns Cuts that might need stitches Earaches, eye injuries Fevers, coughs and colds Infections Nose and throat complaints
