Is he a board certified plastic surgeon? does he have hospital privileges? he's been sued numerous times in DC, but the contract has an arbitration clause so he settles out of court if at all and it's not public record. He didn't have an anesthesiologist or a nurse and if you don't pay that's considered compensation for damages. He's an eye doctor who's performing cosmetic surgery. This should not be legal. I can't comment on the services of Dr. Araya as I never got the opportunity to meet him in-person. I submitted pictures and received an emailed quote, alluding I put down a deposit in order to confirm a surgery date. Due to reviews on google, yelp and RealSelf, I preferred to meet with Dr. Araya in-person before putting down any deposit. There is not a name attached to the "frontdesk@vitasurgical.com" email but he/she gave me the option of meeting Dr. Araya in either DC or Tyson's Corner. I chose Tyson's Corner and was confirmed to meet with Dr. Araya on Fri, May 22nd at 1:30pm. When I arrived for my appointment, his office is nowhere to be found in the building. Like the physical room number did not exist despite what his website states. I called his office line numerous times for help -- 202.452.1332 -- left voice messages and sent emails to "frontdesk@vitasurgical.com" I waited at the building for over an hour and not a single person called me or emailed me back. It's been nearly 2 weeks and not a single person has emailed me or called me back. That is bad business and I will not recommend his facility to others. In hindsight, I'm glad because this practice does not have a Facebook page, nor an Instagram page and you can never speak to anyone live at his facility. Too risky. read more

Not worth a penny. No nurses there to assist you. The day after surgery he was not there and had a cleaning lady wearing gloves and moping floor look at my burn marks and incisions. He did not do full procedure I paid for. He only touched around the belly and left sides and back undone. What a waist of money with him to get botched. read more

Woe is me and my forehead! I've had botox at least a dozen times and I've never been left bruised and with knots on my forehead. Dr. Araya is aggressive with the needle and let's you have it down to to your skull. It took three days for the soreness and bumps to go away. As for the actual product....well, its a complete waste of time, and money. The $200 groupon deal could have secured this place a new and loyal client, but the product, if it's really Botox, is sooo watered down that it does absolutely nothing to eliminate wrinkles. Dr. Araya did my botox for ten years until I moved away from DC a few years ago. I went back to Vita Surgical a couple weeks ago for the first time in years and had botox done at his DC office. It was great to see him. He is both a personable doctor and an artist with his botox. I had been going elsewhere for botox the last few years and nobody makes my wrinkles disappear in a symmetrical manner like Dr. Araya does. I brought him in a new client and he is really happy with his results also. I highly recommend Dr. Araya and Vita Surgical. I am very satisfied with this place. The doctor who treats me is wondeful and I went there for botox. I did see results and although you don't get totally paralyzed muscle/skin you do get paralyzed muscles, just not the kind you can't move. My Doc said he is happy to inject more if I pay a bit more but it will look un-natural. Also you can get more botox if you go somewhere else but you'll get charged $400 or $500 dollars. I got charged 200 for frown lines and any area after that is $50 (ie lines around eyes) You can not beat that price. read more

I'm going to disagree with the previous posts. I visited this doctor at their Tyson's satellite office. The doctor was very informative and pleasant. He explained both the positive and negative that I might experience. I've had very good results comparably with my other botox experiences and do not feel that I'll need a touch up at my follow up. read more

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT go here for liposuction! Dr. Araya presented himself to me as a plastic surgeon and he is an EYE DOCTOR! Dr. Araya performed liposuction on my abs, sides, and flanks in January 2015. I have permanent scaring and almost died from the infection. I advised Dr. Araya that I was having fevers, he told me that was normal. In the second week my skin on my stomach fell off and was RAW. Dr. Araya APPEARED concerned, told me to keep it clean and it would heel. In February the are scabbed up and turned GREEN, I was pale, and was still having fevers. Had a follow up with Araya, he said everything was ok. The next day I went to my provider and was told that I had a severe life threatening infection. I had to go for antibiotic infusions every 12 hours and take antibiotics an additional three weeks, also I had to have a drain placed in my stomach. Dr. Araya has low prices but it is NOT WORTH IT! He is not sterile in any way and I should have left when I saw the "procedure room". Spend a little more money and have your procedure done right. read more

If I could select negative stars I would. Do not go to Dr. Aray for any cosmetic procedure, he is not a cosmetic physician, he is an ophthalmologist by trade. I made the mistake of going to him for both Botox and Restylane because his prices were cheaper, and he posted adverts in the Express paper. He injected the Restylane incorrectly which resulted in an uneven, and lumpy top lip. I went back to him to show him the disaster he created, and he tried to flatter me in order to avoid addressing the ugly lip. He refused to fix it, and insisted there didn't even exist a way to fix it other than injecting more Restylane. So, I had him inject more - which he CHARGED me for. This time the lip came out worse, of course. He then tried to tell me that I was required to massage and squeeze the lip evrey day to even it out. I decided to let the Restylane dissolve naturally, well it has been a year and the lip is still lumpy. I went to another doctor to ask to have it repaired and she informed me that whoever injected the Restylane in to my lip had NO IDEA what he was doing. She informed me that the injected sites were wrong, and the depth of injection was wrong. She also said he is a quack for not fixing the lip, and for claiming that there isn't a way to get rid of the lumps. He could have a) injected Hyaluronidase, which dissolves the offending lump or b) Exrusion, which is when the physician makes a small stab incision over the bump and squeezes it out.. He clearly is unqualified to administer Restylane, or any cosmetic filler. The Botox he injected in to my frown line and crows feet areas was so dilluted that it never worked. He also didn't know how to inject it properly because he simply randomly chose a couple injected sites and shallowly injected the fake botox. He didn't have me move my facial muscles to see where the creases formed (which he would need to do because I don't have wrinkles yet), and he didn't inject enough sites, or at the right depth. Even after the followup appointment where injected even more of the fake botox, NOTHING happened. Stay far away from this place, and this "Doctor". read more

I believe that the doctor at Vita gives placebos. You pay for what you get which is nothing. I paid $299 and there was no change, I went back 2 weeks later and he injected me so hard, I bled and obviously he did not have any botulism in the needle. There was no change whatsoever. He should be investigated.He tries to use his charm when you insist there is no difference. Unfortunately, I will not go to him again because I would have taken some before photos. I do not recommend that anyone uses VITA in Foggy Bottom. I will spend my money elsewhere even though it is more expensive. He is a ripoff and should be investigated. read more

Appointments for follow ups are done while he is performing surgery. ;-( So he rushing to get back to the patient on the table. STAY AWAY!! I had liposuction and it looks like the surgeon had his eyes closed and his hands behind his back because my body is so messed up. He is as nice as can be, even called me sweetie. Within a week I was disabled from the pain and I was in ER with huge burns all over my flanks. The next week the pain worsened and I went to see him and he gave me a few water pills wrapped in a napkin and he told me to get blood work. He also stuck pins in my gutt and asked me to hold kitchen trash bags as fluid streamed out of my body. That night I ended up in ER again, and was admitted for nearly a week and I was transported by ambulance, and I had seroma, a severe infection, back ulcers, necrosis and those burn scabs were removed and I was left with holes on each side that I looked like I was scraped open with a ladle. It was that bad. I was off work for weeks. I was taking a bottle of ibuprofen a day and could have shut my organs down. I thought I was an isolated case, until I started reading review after review of women that had the same result. Did I mention that I didn't lose any weight? my shape is the same, and now I have horrible and disgusting scars that go from my back to my navel and they have keloids. So I endured a massive infection, and hospital stay, throwing up for weeks, time away from work, months and months of severe pain, keloids and scarring, and I am still the same size. I am a professional, honest, well educated, beautiful strong intelligent woman. I am attractive, but I wanted a little extra Umph to feel like myself again. When I tell you I am so disgusted with my results- that is an understatement. I looked at his website and believed I'd have the same result. Not convinced this guy knows what he's doing, takes great care regarding the approrpiate procedure for his patients, or knows exactly what's going on with these procedures. I stopped going halfway through my scheduled procedures. I had side effects he tried to convince me were normal but upon further research only occur when the doctor has made a mistake. Not to mention I didnt like the inappropriate comments he'd make during my visits. And another bad omen--Last I was there there was a woman in the waiting room for lipo. She was so anxious and panicky-she felt that the assistant and dr. were trying to deter her from speaking to another lipo patient that was there and just kept shoving this binder of testimonials in her face. I arrived early, filled out a general, poorly printed document. I then proceeded to wait an additional 1/2 hour. If I had to wait 2 minutes more I probably would have left. No one talked to me about the procedure I was requesting or asked if I had questions. When the Dr. finally called me in, he hadn't looked at my file cause he didn't even know what procedure I wanted. (Laser hair removal). He then immediately turned the machine on and tried to talk to me as he painfully and randomly zapped away at the area. There was no cleaning of the area. There was also no cooling at the end. He told me it was the heat that killed the folicle. I had this done before, and they cooled the skin so it didn't blister. He did nothing to observe or clean his work. He said "well, they don't have physicians providing the service." -(which I know they at least had a dermatolgist around) The customer service here sucked and I just hope my face doesn't scar. I left only to discover I had big black spots all over where the hair had been zapped and my skin felt on fire. Not impressed, seemed rather unprofessional. However, if your problem is big and you don't want to spend the money, the procedures are signifinicantly cheaper than anywhere else, but I probably got what i paid for. sigh. read more

I have been going to Dr. Araya for over 10 years for botox. In May I decided to get Blepharoplasty/upper eye lift. I consulted other surgeons, but came back to Dr. Araya for this surgery because I trust him. I think he's a great doctor, great bedside manner and his staff is really helpful. I love my eye lift and there was no down time because I had it done under local anesthesia Dr. Araya is much less expensive than other surgeons that conduct eye lifts. For those of you questioning Dr. Araya's botox, I did as well, but after going to 2 other doctors for botox (1 was a derm and the other a plastic surgeon) I found that my response was the same, my body just metabolizes botox quickly. Just be sure to go for your free touch up 2 weeks after you get your botox. read more

A very friendly environment however the time with the consultant feels very rushed. When I asked to see some before and after pictures of a procedure - I was told to look on the internet!! He is terrible, I honestly don't recommend him at all. Me and my friend both got liposuction here and both have bad results. 1) He don't make you feel comfortable he rush you so he can get the procedure done. 2) You feel everything! not sure what ANESTHESIA he use but it don't work. The whole time I felt a burning and pressure to the point I wanted to cry. Me and my friend felt the same way. Getting surgery you should not feel pain that bad and the surgeon should make you feel comfortable. 3) The room where you get the work done don't look like a surgery room and the nurses there are clueless and wasn't helpful either. 4) Our results are not good, he told us if you keep moving he cant curve us the correct way. First off I should be knocked out from the anesthesia so I cant feel anything of course I'm moving because its so painful. 7 to 8 months later we both still have lumps in our stomach, and look like we didn't get nothing done because he did a terrible job. No way this man is should be doing liposuction he's all wrong. The whole procedure literally felt like I was slowly dying. I have been going to Dr. Araya for a couple of years now. His price for Botox shots are reasonable and I like that i can come back for a touch up if I am unhappy with my results. He is also very personable, he views me as a person, not just a forehead with a wrinkle. We exchange ideas on what I should seek and what i should not in terms of maintaining my results. So it's been 3 months....wow. And wow. The first 6 weeks or so, I really wondered if I was getting what I paid for. I had so much swelling that I couldn't believe the surgery would work. True to Dr. A's word, I began to see progress. It's been 3 months and my pants do not fit anymore ESPECIALLY around the waist area. he stresses a low cal diet to aid in the protein absorption which I don't follow to the letter as I am in training and need the calories. I am so so happy I did this. If there was anything else I felt he could do for me (that working out couldn't achieve) I'd give him more of my money. He is always ready and willing to answer my questions and Ms. H is so patient and understanding. She's so serene. My only ONLY complaint is the lack of written follow-up instructions and FAQs. It's part of my initial issue of the contract layout's. I don't know if the decision is based on $$ (glossy photos and the like) or lack need/desire as a lot his business is based on word of mouth and the occasional ad. He is ASSUREDLY busy as his DC office wait area has folks literally standing as all of the seats are always taken. I hated having to go there for my initial follow ups, I much prefer his Vienna office. Excellent. Still have about 3 months for the final results and coupled a more aggressive workout (I've been lazy lately), I'm going probably be even more impressed! read more
