My entire month of July was spent here with my community, and I loved every single minute of it.The concerts start at 7:00 p.m., but I was always the first one there since I live the closest. I'd show up with my folding chairs, claim a big spot, spread out blankets, and save plenty of room for everyone. Then I'd wait for my friends to arrive. You know the evening is officially about to begin when they play Downey's official city song! I had no idea Downey even had a song, but it's absolutely adorable and always puts everyone in a great mood.Our final concert was extra special--we had a grand total of 22 people at our little gathering! Every week turned into a giant community potluck with everyone bringing something delicious to share. One weekend my friends even surprised me with a birthday party, complete with a decorated table and cake. It made me feel so loved, and it's a memory I'll treasure forever.There's something so peaceful about sitting on a blanket, listening to live music, chatting with friends, and watching the sun slowly set over the park. It's a reminder that some of the best nights don't have to be expensive--they just need good people and good music.The concession stand offered the basics--hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, pie, and drinks. I do wish there were a few more food options, but maybe that's something they can expand on next year. Before the concerts, there were booths from local businesses like Lazy Dog, the Downey Theatre, dental offices, and other community organizations offering fun giveaways, games, and raffle prizes. We never won the raffle tree, but we sure had fun trying every week!One of my favorite parts was running into so many familiar faces. It truly felt like the entire community came together to enjoy summer evenings at the park.The only downside? July is over way too fast! I wish the concert series lasted longer because one month just isn't enough.Thank you to everyone who makes these concerts happen each year. Until next summer...

Watch for the ducks, geese, turtles and fish just be sure if you hang out with the birds you have shoes that wash off easily. Bunnies are often seen in the shrubs, darling and so fun to spot. They recently gutted this entire park so everything is new. Bring lunch and use one of the picnic tables or find a tree to sit under. This is a great park with a bathroom near the playground, swing in and check it out. The gorgeous flora alone is worth the visit.

I arrived and 2 large dogs were in the small dog area. Thankfully the big dog area was empty so I took my dog there. The owner of the dogs neither cared nor apologized. He seemed drunk so i just ignored him and waited for him to leave. He left and left his dogs INSIDE THE SMALL DOG AREA! Who does that!! Not only is that cruel but so horrible etiquette! Other than that its clean for the most part, no poop left laying around. There are bags to use to clean up the poop. My dog seemed to enjoy running around and smelling everything. This is a great little park tucked into a residential area on the outskirts of Norwalk. My son had…read morea little league practice here which is how we found out about the place. We had a family picnic here a few weeks later. The park is clean and well kept. There are sinks near the picnic tables under a shelter. There are also two bbq grills if you plan on grilling for your event. You can see your kids in the playground if you're in the picnic area. They have a baseball field which can be used during off season. The bathrooms are clean as well. The City of Norwalk has lots of activities for kids planned throughout the year at the parks. One of these events include their free lunch program during the Summer. The weekend we went there happened to be crafts and snacks for the kids. We were excited to see some of the youth workers my kids knew from Kid's Camp while we were there. Thank you Amanda and coworker for playing basketball with the kids and helping them with their projects. All the kids in our group made a craft, colored in coloring books, and had snacks. It was a great day all around. We'll definitely come here again if they have activities on the weekend.

The reasoning for the poor rating is very simple, there seems to always be a vagrant or two which is a public safety and health concern in my opinion. Should you want to feel safe then I suggest go to neighboring cities or perhaps up the street to Wilderness Park in Downey where they seem to care about safety. Too bad for this park as its in a great neighborhood but vagrants are starting to call this park home.
