    Several hot air balloons together.

What the best anniversay so far. Had a wonderful experience and well worth the money, breathtaking! Shirley and Ed

I had a wonderful flight with them - everything was perfect and very safe - I felt comfortable the whole adventure- highly recommended!

On a foggy, Saturday morning in September my family & I went on our first ever hot air balloon ride. It was breathtaking to say the least. Each balloon has a team of members that include the pilot, a couple Vista Balloon employees & local volunteers to prepare the balloon for take off as well as disassembling it. Baskets fit six to 10 people depending on the group sizes for that day. Our basket was about four feet deep & fit six people plus the pilot. We were strategically placed inside & within minutes were rising off the ground. It was the smoothest lift off I had ever felt. The timing of our departure couldn't have been more perfect. The fog blanketed the landscape as the sun pierced through & as we rose above the fog we watched it slowly dissipate. Everybody had their cameras out & none of us were holding on for dear life. The flight was so smooth in fact that we usually couldn't tell whether we were going up or down unless we looked down. No bumps, no shakes, no collisions. The weather was cooperative, the air was clean & we stayed warm under the hot air during the entire hour flight. After we made a soft landing, in a harvested field several miles out, we disassembled the balloon from its basket, rolled up the balloon & transported it back to the launch site in Newberg, OR. It took all six riders, the pilot & three volunteers to do this & it was hard work. The champagne (or mimosa or sparkling cider of your choice) brunch was home-made & every dish was delicious. Vista Ballon tours begin in April & end the first weekend of October. The rate is $189 per person but groups of four or more are $170 per person. The price may seem steep but after three hours of a hot air balloon adventure you'll see it's worth every penny.

We're from Maui and my wife and son decided to take this adventure, very expensive @ $200 per person, however, it was worth the price--a once in a lifetime experience for sure. It's really hard to explain the experience, the views are wonderful and it's so quiet and peaceful. Getting the balloon prepped is also very exciting as you participate in getting the ballon filled with air and watching how huge this vehicle really is as it fills the cool morning sky. After the adventure, they provided a home-style lunch that was a quaint home-made meal that was done perfectly. The people who run this operation are very close knit and it shows by their interaction with each other, so you have a feeling like you're a guest of this family rather than a customer. When we got home, we received a post card from them with our picture on the front. A nice touch I must admit. So, overall, again this is an expensive venture, but I would say it was well worth it. It's something we'll never forget and definitely one of the highlights of our trip. My suggestion to you however, is to call the day before to be sure that the tour will not be cancelled due to weather. I read a previous post that the company didn't call them that the tour was cancelled. So, you may want to take the extra precaution so that you don't drive there for nothing.

No need to be afraid...my son is afraid of heights, but the staff and pilot made him feel safe & secure. The flight is actually very smooth and peaceful. The awesome staff even serves a wonderful champagne breakfast buffet after the flight! I highly recommend checking this one off you bucket list with Vista Balloon Adventures!

One of the other balloons touching down for a moment in the river. We did the same, it was a really neat part of the ride!

We received two gift certificates for a hot air balloon ride for our wedding and had such a great time! I don't enjoy getting up early in the morning to do anything, but it was worth it. I also tend to be afraid of heights, but after the first 30 seconds of the slightest anxiety it didn't phase me at all and I loved every minute. Our ride was about an hour with eight other people plus the guide/operator. We were with Robert, and he was great. As we flew he pointed out vineyards and a variety of other spots across the area. We even did a quick "basked kiss" into the near-by river, which he executed flawlessly and then we ascended right back up into the sky. When we returned there was a lovely, rustic champagne brunch al fresco. We'd absolutely do it again, and this time we'd like to bring a group of friends!

Loved it. Def recommend them. John our pilot was great at keeping everyone calm and informed. I am terrified of flying but loved this experience! Would highly recommend them!

All I can say is simply amazing! The experience is like no other! The staff here are top notch! I was amazed on how well the team works together to make this beautiful experience happen. Everyone here is so knowledgeable and friendly. The balloons are huge! The day is so beautiful. The sun shinning perfectly to give your experience even more fun! I highly recommend this company for all of your adventures!

We floated in the largest balloon in the PacNW and did a cool touch splash in the Willamette River.

WARNING: SUPER LONG REVIEW…read more What an excellent experience! We did an off-season tour arranged by Tiffany (who was very helpful and patient with my million questions). * We were welcomed into the building, and I told him not only are we going on a helicopter, we are going on a helicopter WINE TOUR. Yeah, I managed to finally surprise my husband! We had a wonderful light breakfast from Red Hills market, cheese stuffed croissant, and some breakfast style charcuterie. All excellent. They also served some champagne (in hindsight, I would have had just one glass). At this time they showed us a humor filled safety briefing video and we got to chat with our pilot. * After about 30 minutes, we walked through the building to our sweet ride for the day and loaded up, and before we knew it were up in the air, incredible! Our Pilot was awesome, telling us about the area and the AVA's as we headed to our first stop. Stop 1- Elk Cove Vineyards When we were coming down to land, a bunch of people came outside to take photos. We felt like rockstars! We were greeted in the Vineyard with a glass of wine, then escorted into a private tasting area and were talked through each wine and some history of the winery as we sipped. We then took a little tour of the facility and invited the pilot to join us before we had to take off again. This was a beautiful Vineyard and I would love to see it again in summer. We chose not to purchase wine at this stop, and they did not charge us a tasting fee. Stop 2- Natalie's Estate We landed down the hill, and a car picked us up to take us up to the tasting room which was surrounded by big old trees. It was very cozy. Natalie's Estate provides a nice charcuterie board with their wine tasting and their bold reds were amazing. This was our favorite stop. Another couple walked in to do some tasting and they explained to the couple that they were doing a private tasting. My husband and I insisted that we were more than happy to have them stay and taste these excellent wines. We chatted with them and told them all about the helicopter wine tour and told them they must try it someday. We also had our delicious lunch from Red Hills Market here, a meat plate, delicious quinoa salad, sparkling water, chocolates, and 2 sandwiches. We purchased 2 bottles of wine and were not charged the tasting fee. We would definitely go back to this winery. Stop 3- Domaine Divio This spot was beautiful to fly into and they were PACKED so all eyes were on us. Because they were so busy, we were served our tasting flight and some light charcuterie and left us alone. This was different than the prior 2 locations who really took the time to describe each wine. We were a little disappointed in the experience at this location (this is not at all a reflection of Tour deVine). Perhaps this is only because the bar was raised so high at the first 2 locations. We did not purchase wine at this location, and were charged $20/person for the tasting. Altogether, this was an amazing experience for us. And I was happy to finally surprise my husband! Here are some tips: * If you want to surprise someone, consider arranging for the helicopter to pick you up in downtown Portland. I didn't know they did this until I saw it in a review about a week prior. It will cost a little extra. That would have been sneaker.... Or they can pick you up at another winery at the start. * Expect to pay about $500/person for an off-season custom tour (totally worth it and you get the helicopter to yourselves), and of course the vineyards won't be lush and green, but they are still beautiful year round. * Drink water and pace yourselves! This ended up being a lot of wine by the end. Maybe have one glass of champagne with breakfast and not 3! Whoops! Now, after all this I hope to someday do an on season tour when everything is green.

The staff was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We went over wooden shoe tulips, and it was stunning. I like…read morehow they also do a toast after the ride and a small speech about the history of hot air balloons. -*: However, their advertising instagram page is a little misleading. We booked for the shared tulip rides: but somehow 2 out of the 3 total hot air balloons( such as the one we were in) did not go through the tulip fields that are blooming. Only 1 hot air balloons did the route as what they presented in social media. We ended up just looking far from a distance and only floated over the green tulip fields that haven't boom yet. A little disappointed there and felt like their instagram page is misleading where the hot air balloons are all portrayed floating on the tulips. In reality, only 1 out of 3 hot air balloons will get the view. Also, after the ride, they will ask you to help them put back the hot air balloon equipment. From my previous hot air balloon company experience such as in Napa, none of us were expected to do the heavy and cleanup work. if I had to pay for a service and on top of tipping, I don't expect myself to do the grunt work, especially not in the wet mud. It's like expecting myself to clean up the plates after eating at a fine dining restaurant and tipping. They should definitely hire more helpers or have better cleanup equipments. Overall, I still enjoyed the ride. It just did not meet the expectations of paying 250/pp and how it advertised online.
