Ralph showed up right on time at our Airbnb in McMinville with the cutest printed itineraries in hand to tell us all about our upcoming wine adventure. We loaded into the spacious van--with blissfully cool AC--and set out on a perfect ride through the scenic hills of Oregon's wine country. Before the tour, Ralph reached out to get to know our group's vibe, and wow, did he deliver! He curated the perfect day tailored to our interests, and it felt like he knew exactly what we needed. The highlight? Two charming "Mom and Pop" wineries that offered the most spectacular wine tastings I've ever had. Ralph doubled as our local guide, sharing insights about the area and the craft behind each pour, which brought the whole experience to life. At each stop, he served delectable fruit and cheese pairings, and lunch? *Perfection.* Roasted veggies, grilled chicken, and the show-stopper: a peanut butter and jelly cookie that could win awards. I'm still dreaming about it. Above all, Ralph was kind, thoughtful, and went the extra mile to make sure every detail was flawless. This was, hands-down, the best wine tasting experience I've ever had--and I'll be recommending it to everyone. Cheers to The Grape Escape and to Ralph--thank you for making our trip truly special!

She was competent and warm, put my friend in the pilot's seat and gave her a phenomenal lesson (2 landings) and both of us got a beautiful tour of the river. Tickets were sold online and that process was easy. The gravel parking lot is across the street but was filled with lots of big puddles due to the rain making parking a little challenging. The gift shop where you check in is small but has lots of fun train-related books and toys. The gentlemen at the counter were very nice and friendly and the staff running the train operations were all very welcoming and helpful. Now this is probably my fault for not reading everything but I did not realize the train carts were open air. As you can imagine the rain makes it a very wet experience. However! We were able to find seats in the covered caboose so that was such a nice option to have especially with a newborn on board with us. The ride itself was smooth and scenic. The kids loved the constant choo choo noises and the 20-minute stop at the Yacolt Creek Falls. The steps were a little steep especially wet and sleek with the rain but it was very pretty. Overall I would definitely recommend this as a fun experience for the family but I think we would have enjoyed it more in the summertime.

The visitor center itself has some informational displays about the history of the fort, as well as the archeological excavation process and how the fort became a national historic site. There is a section with animal and spirit masks by a Native American artist. The gift shop has a lot of books and literature for sale, along with the usual post cards, NPS patches, etc. It is somewhat small though. Large picture windows give a view of the grass and large trees. The trees obscure the view of the fort, so you have to make your way down to check it out!

We stayed here in August of 2018 as a last minute camping trip for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were…read morea little disappointed with how close the tent camping spots were to one another. However, after being there for a few days it wasn't actually too bad. Below I've listed the pros and cons from our stay. PROS - 1. Deep in the woods/no cell phone coverage (sprint or AT&T). The tent sites were under pretty heavy tree cover, so even though it was mid 80s while we were here, it never go much warmer than mid 70's where we were at. 2. Very few tent sites with only 11 sites on the loop. This made for a fairly quiet trip. While the sites are fairly close together, it's not near as bad as a KOA and a few are more spaced out than others. 3. Multiple trails and a creek. We had 4 kids with us (5,7,7, &10). They spent all day playing by the very shallow creek and the trails surrounding it that were directly behind the tent sites. I also ran the Liahona one day, and would recommend for someone who enjoys short trail runs or a fairly easy hike. 4. Two large open fields. There is one field about 100 yards up from the tent sites that was larger than a football field. Good for letting dogs run around or setting up a game. There was another field where they have weddings higher up near the bathroom that was even larger. We setup a huge game of capture the flag one day and then spent quite a bit of time riding bikes down the grass hill the next. The kids loved it. 5. Bathroom/Showers near Horse Camp. These were fairly updated and much nicer than the ones closer to the tent camping. CONS - 1. The main bathrooms were quite a trek from the campsite and the showers were not something I'd assume anyone actually uses. I'd guess 300 yards, mostly uphill. The next set was near the horse camp and another 150 yards or so further. That one is MUCH nicer. 2. This is a HUGE campground with a ton of room. However, all the camping loops are pretty small with the sites pretty close together. As I noted above, there are a few more spaced out or some that would be really nice if you had a couple groups out camping together on multiple sites. 3. Adirondack sites were not great. We checked these out, but would definitely never camp in them. They were all in fairly rough shape and just like the tent sites were all pretty close together. OTHER -All the roads were gravel through the whole camp. This made for some fun biking, but also made things a little dusty. -The camp host is about a half mile away. As long as you have respectful neighbors this isn't a problem, but there likely won't be anyone strongly enforcing quiet hours.
