Lake Tahoe is one of the places on my bucket list and I'm so glad I checked this one off! Lake Tahoe is beautiful just the way it is. My friends and I came here during the summer of 2022. We experienced the summer part of Lake Tahoe which had crispy blue skies, clear blue waters, and green pine trees on the mountains! We had a chance to also kayak, which took almost a 45 min wait just for our turn. We did a fair amount of hiking, and what a sensory experience it was! Natural waterfalls and rock climbing were all part of the incredible experience! Will redo this one in my bucket list in a heartbeat!

My Bestfriend came back from vacation, so we went back again to San Francisco to pick up goodies that my Family sent for me and then drove to Lake Tahoe. We've been to Lake Tahoe many times, but this time we got there at the perfect timing, the Snow is pouring a lot. It's a lovely place to visit year round but for me Winter is the best time to visit 'coz it so beautiful everywhere with all the Thick snow.

Beautiful Lake Tahoe L ots of shopping and restaurant options at The Shops at Heavenly Village. They have it all and more! A attracting travelers who were taken by the lake's beauty and plethora of activities K ayaking, hiking, windsurfing, golfing, fishing, swimming activities in the summer and warm season E merald Bay State Park has incredible views of the Bay and is worth the trip all by itself T allac Historic Site made up of 3 Estates built between 1894 and 1930 A ncient Nordic architecture... visit Vikingsholm! H aven for outdoor fun in every season O ne of the deepest lakes in the world E pic snowfall makes for a spectacular skiing in winter season Lake Tahoe is one of our favorite beautiful places to visit. I feel fortunate to live where South Lake Tahoe is just approximately 100 miles from us (that's about a two-hour drive) which is a lot closer than visitors driving from the Bay Area. The drive up is scenic with windy roads. Chains required during winter time. We've come here to dine, shop, hangout at the casinos, go camping, jet ski and just getaway for the weekend. Unfortunately, we're not the only ones with this idea. SLT can get super crowded attracting 3 million people visiting the lake each year. Whether you're visiting the lake for the day or live in Tahoe year-round... please Keep Tahoe Blue :) Review #2107

Not as beautiful as it once was - I remember as a kid in the 90s crystal clear water. Today its murky and sometimes there is lots of green slime on the shore. Kids of the 90s will remember life without cell phones, being able to play in their front yards and crystal clear water in Lake Tahoe. All of that is gone these days and I don't think things will ever return to the way things were. If you think about how clear Lake Tahoe was for how long - all the previous generations enjoyed something so crisp and almost sterile looking until the most recent little kids growing up today. Little kids will know nothing different and the green slime is normal to them. Their faces might be buried in iPads anyway - its possible they are steps from the water and might not even know its there... Paranoia and panic seems all too common these days - and even the best neighborhoods don't really feel safe anymore. My last visit to Tahoe was the first time I noticed how jumpy people were there too - I've never felt that before. Maybe its the masks and how strangers are largely anonymous. 2021 saw lots of Tahoe go up in flames - I feel that whole year was one that nobody really wants to remember - seemed almost worse than 2020 when all the pandemic stuff was coming out and panic shopping and lots more unknown. Maybe Lake Tahoe doesn't have to be murky green slime. Maybe it can be repaired. Maybe fewer sewer pipes leading into it will help. Maybe just maybe. Let that be the little slice of hope for 2022...

Best lake ever. If you've been there you agree, and maybe even if you haven't. Lake Tahoe is beautiful any time. Go in the summer to enjoy the beaches. Take a ski trip in the winter. It can suck getting to from outside the area. Maybe you're flying into Reno. There's a shuttle from the airport but it doesn't come often enough and that gets annoying having to get to it on time. If you want to see as much of the lake as possible, the only choice is to use a personal vehicle, most often which is a car. There's some bicycle trails but these can get tricky. If you didn't know, the lake is very big. It's more than 70 miles around it. There's several roads you can take. Get on what is called Lake Tahoe Scenic Drive. This includes US 50 as well as California 89, and goes pretty close to the lake with many areas to stop and get pictures. Some important points on the south include South Lake Tahoe, and Stateline with the casinos and restaurants, Emerald Bay, Inspiration Point, and Zephyr Cove. Most people come to these areas. Some important points on the north include Sand Harbor, Tahoe City, Crystal Bay, Kings Beach, Incline Village, and Truckee. The north is much quieter but there's still plenty to do and see there. Basically it's impossible to mention everything. It will take a whole day going around and stopping at points. There's much to do that you can even spend a few weeks.

Visiting Lake Tahoe was a soul-filling experience marked by a touch of almost every sense. I could smell the trees. I could see the beautiful royal blue lake, hear the wind blowing through the trees and the waves moving through the tide. I felt the sand in between my toes and my hand in the cold water. This is my second visit and we stayed a couple of days this time. Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay are almost a sensory overload in a good way. Lake Tahoe is the perfect place to refresh and reset. Pictures do not begin to capture the experience but my mind will remember the beauty. I hope to be back soon to experience this wonderful place again.

To me the tropics has been my number one choice of sheer natural beauty. However, I think Lake Tahoe holds an eternal beauty all its own. Mind you , I spent many holidays here with my family growing up, but it's been a long time since I made it back. Long drive from where I live and flying into Reno and taking the shuttle down for an hour + just didn't seem worth the little time I could spend there. I rather drive there and that's a lot coming from me that bounces off the walls after 45 minutes in the car. My point is , Tahoe is worth the drive, the plane ride, horses, donkeys , bicycle...it's worth every second of it to get there. Now let me tell you about Tahoe...I can't find the right words to express the utter beauty of this place. It's just magnificent to say the least. There is not one person that could not find a pint of interest here. South Tahoe or North Tahoe are just beyond words. You can go fishing, kayaking, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, cycling, sight seeing , walks, trails, wildlife, solitude if you choose, you choose your path. And then there is the casinos?! Not to mention, great cuisine and restaurants ! From health food places to some of the finest cuisine that people used to fly out for just the day. Tahoe...I'm forever in love with you! I'm so glad I found my way back to you!!!

I have mixed emotions of Lake Tahoe, I know it's a beautiful place but our vacay had up's and down's. Firstly let me tell you about the down's, we arrived at Lake Tahoe Sunday at midnight. When we arrived at the RENO Airport our hotel was 1 hour away. The price to get to the hotel was f'ing ridiculous the yellow taxi cab wanted to charged me and my bf $170 to get to our hotel which I wasn't going pay that because that was mad expensive. I read in the airport that they had shuttles that runs to different hotels. I had made a call to the hotel that I was staying at and they told me that the hotel didn't have any shuttle so I decided to go on Uber for a cab, no car was available so I decided then I'll try Lyft I got one for $100 and I thought oh well this was a better price than what the yellow cab driver was trying to charge me just to carry us from the airport to South Lake Tahoe. We got to our hotel marriot timber lodge, we checked in we went to our room and let to tell you it was breathtaking. We had a full kitchen with everything you could think of for your comfort. We had a full bathroom with standing shower then we got to the bedroom we had a jacuzzi and a king size bed with nightstand, dresser, television with cable omg, internet, we had a living room with a bigger tv, with fire place sitting area and dining area. The place was lovely, it was very nice the hotel website pictures doesn't do it any justice. Our first day at Lake Tahoe after we checked in, we went to front desk where we got two cards and paper with places where we would get discount. We went to driftwood cafe for breakfast and the food was amazing, plus the price was cheap. We enjoyed our breakfast, thank you driftwood cafe because we did go back again for breakfast lol. After breakfast we thought we would chill at the pool because we felt jet lagged because we had be traveling for a longtime. From NYC to South Lake Tahoe. I think that was the worst decision we made because the next day it was horrible outside, we could see anything it looked like Halloween, it was smoke and ash everywhere it looked like it was snowing smh. So went to a supermarket very near and we purchase stuff to cook and stay in. Anything we needed for our comfort, the next day was the same we stayed inside again. The rest of our stay was better than the first half, we went to round hill beach we went on jet ski and I want to tell you that was amazing the water is so pretty and fresh but don't let that fool you it is cold lol but we didn't mind because it was hot outside. We went hiking it was smokey but I enjoyed the wilderness it was beautiful such a bomber that we could see the lake from the top because of the smoke and we went on a cruise to emerald bay but it was so Smokey we could see anything it was worst than the hike so we thought that was a waste of money. I will definitely visit in the winter when i know that there is no fire and we could get to experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

One can appreciate the 4 seasons that is visible all throughout the year, in this area of the surrounding Lake! I adore Lake Tahoe. It's a great getaway from the Bay Area and like a retreat. One can have fun, do some activities based on the seasons and/or simply relax. The winter weather is admirable and definitely a new scene. When it is snowing, the bountiful trees are covered with powdery soft snow. It's quite breathtaking and a wondrous awe moment. It's definitely a change of scenery from the city landscape. Building a snowman, makes you smile and feel warm when out. Staying in and reading a good book, while sipping on hot chocolate, tea or chocolate wine, is a classic complimentary plus. I hibernated like a bear - it was fabulous. I was amazed that I didn't get a headache from sleeping so much. During the spring, summer and fall weather, the warm breeze, just makes you want to be out and about! Splashing water, sunbathing, jet skiing and etc., is a must! The waters of Lake Tahoe is deep blue in color and water never tasted so yummy from a lake! Lovely Lake Tahoe, creates precious memories! It's the weekend trips and travels like these, that I take a joy in on counting my blessings and being grateful. "Self-reflection is a humbling process. It's essential to find out what you think, say and do certain things...then better yourself." ~ Sonya Teclai. I got to reflect at Lake Tahoe and my takeaway: reflect, refresh and renew.

I have to admit I was lost for words when we first came around a bend a down a grade and there in front lied the beautiful lake and town of Lake Tahoe. The lake itself was what mostly caught my eyes surrounded by the snow capped majestic mountains of the Sierra Madre. The blueness of the lake was quite impressive and its over all size of 191 square miles took me a while to take in. I spent most of my time on the Southern end of the lake in and around Zephyr Cove and the town of Lake Tahoe on the California and Nevada side. The town is great and I love the fact that in the middle of the town, one can jump right over to the Nevada side and then back to the California side. I did that a couple of times just for kicks. If you like Casinos, the Nevada side host a number of full blown casinos and hotels with more to come in the upcoming years. Yes, the town is great and you'll find a lot to do and great places to eat, but the star in town is definitely the lake. I loved when the wind blew and created lake waves and sun shimmered on the lake. The water is cold, even during the Summer which averages about 42 degrees F., but that does not keep individuals from participating in a number of water sports. I enjoyed just sitting on one of the many large boulders that hugged the lake coast to take in the view. Next time, my goals is to drive the entire perimeter of the lake.

The Perfect Weekend Getaway For A Sacramentan! SITREP Lake Tahoe is a wonderful "get-out-of-town" (Sacramento) weekend excursion. THE SETUP Whether planning a day-long hiking trip from the trailhead up to the summit of Mt. Tallac, brunching along the lakeshore at Artemis, dancing the night away until 3am at Xhale, and THEN heading on over just two (2) doors down to the 24-hour restaurant "Lucky Beaver" for early morning munchies, there is sooooo much to do in and around Lake Tahoe. SKIING TO WATER SPORTS The lake is it's own iconic beautiful landmark, and during the summer, expect there to be a lot of water skiing. Likewise, during the winter months, you have some great ski resorts to enjoy, with a whole array of other winter sports, almost obviating the need to travel further to the Colorado, Idaho or Utah slopes. CASINOS If gambling is your thing, there is also the casinos like Harvey's and Hard Rock on the South Lake Tahoe / Stateline side of the lake. You have your choices. BRUNCHING, MUNCHIES & DINING! As alluded above, there are some fantastic dining options right on the lakeshore. However, don't let that dissuade you from the fantastic buffets and elegant dining options also available. And perhaps you just want something quicker and less expensive? You have got Base Camp Pizza, California Pizza, McP's TapHouse, Sno Yogurt and many other options to satisfy whatever your yen my be! HOTELS, MOTELS, RVs, OH MY! There are so many lodging options you can avail yourself from the reasonably costed Rodeway Inn to the mid-level Basecamp, and to the pricier Lake Tahoe Resort. And with most lodging options, parking & WiFi are free. THE LOWDOWN The perfect weekend getway!

Late post: Stayed a few days in 2 separate hotels and enjoyed everything Tahoe had to offer. From shopping in town to swimming at the lake. My fave spot to visit would have to be Emerald Bay all along the Rubicon Trail. That area was just so beautiful. The Rubicon trail led to many camp sites and swimming areas. Also leads to the Vikingsholm which is a popular tourist spot. When visiting Lake Tahoe be sure to check out Friday's Station located in Harrahs for a beautiful sunset dinner. Looking to explore. Take a trip on a gondola ride up the mountain. Don't like heights. Go for a cruise on one of the many tours they offer. Or Take a hike. For real though. Lol. Either way. There is something for everyone. If you wanna explore but don't want to do it walking, there are many bike/scooter rentals throughout. If renting a scooter/bike I would hope you have enough experience to ride one considering I've seen many people wipe out on the scooters. Lol. And after seeing enough bloody knees I knew it was safer if I just walked on my own two feet. Lol Overall. Lake Tahoe is just perfect. Pretty views. Beautiful lake. Once you get here it's hard to leave.

On the afternoon that we arrived, we were lucky that the parking kiosk was not working and the gate to enter was open, so we lucked out with free parking. But will mention that this most likely was during off season because it was pretty cold on the day of our visit (we were one of very few crazy people willing to kayak in the water on this cold day (low to mid 60's). After we parked, my husband and I pulled our foldable kayaks over to the sand. After putting our kayaks together, we launched ourselves from the sand and then were off. Initially the water nice and calm but about 30 minutes into it, the waves started to get choppy and the winds were blowing kind of hard, so we only managed to kayak for about an hour but it was a fun visit. The view from my kayak was very beautiful and serene (before the winds starting to blow harder). Please note that near this beach is dog friendly, Zephyr Shoals Beach north of Zephyr Cove Resort. But where we parked and launched our kayaks is not dog friendly. There is food sold from the concession stands and there are restrooms on this beach (but I did not use any of the restrooms, nor did I purchase any food). Also kayaks are available for rent here. Overall, we had a good visit and would consider coming back here to kayak again the next time we visit Lake Tahoe.

Excellent parasailing experience this morning…read more We had booked the 10am 1000 foot experience and arrived around 9:45 am to fill out waivers (we had prepaid the $480 fee) and then boarded our boat. We had two crew members - one driving and the other helping with the preparation for the parasail (harnesses, life jackets, picture taking and so on). There was one more passenger and he went up first, then it was our turn - our tween and I went first in tandem (it was her first time) and then our teen and the missus. It was a magical ride; while I've done this before, it was lovely to see it from my daughter's eyes. It was chilly up high and she was a bit nervous, but the lake and mountains were breathtaking and she relaxed enough to soak it all in. We were 500-700 feet above the pristine "Tahoe Blue" surface, and we even got to dip our toes in the lake as we were being reeled back in! Can't wait to return!

Terrible scammy business practices!…read more Called them because my bank statement shows I was charged $230 when I only booked a 2 hour single kayak rental. They said they can't refund me because it was over 48 hours. And they said I also had two SUP's on that order. I told them, how can that be, I only requested the kayak. And so I asked them for the documents that I signed and then they said "sure". Get this, soo I was like...do you need my email? They said they're too busy to send it me me. On a monday morning. So you need people to check their bank accounts on a daily basis, but can't spend 5 mins to send me the supporting documents. If she gave me her real name, the manager's name is Kasandra. Completely not understanding and just accuses me of booking the SUP's and just so rude.

I just found out about Lam Watah Trail (in South Lake Tahoe/Stateline in the Nevada side) and…read morewalked it recently. The name in Washoe means permanent mortar by the stream. The trailhead is right within walking distance from the casinos and Stateline/Highway 50. If walking the strip/Stateline is not your thing, don't forget about the free Lake Link shuttle service. The trail leads to Nevada Beach. It's 2.8 miles roundtrip. Flat, no inclines. My kind of walk. Portions of the trail are packed dirt or paved with the majority of it paved. The trailhead has a small paved parking lot, it's free with no time limits but no overnight parking allowed. There are public restrooms. If they're open, I suggest using those because in the winter all the other restrooms on the trail and the beach are closed. We discovered that the hard way. There are two options of trails at the trailhead parking lot. You can use the paved path or the dirt path. The dirt path provides a view of Jennings pond and field as it is right next to it. Even though the pond itself is about 4 feet, you or your fur babies don't want to fall into that ice cold water so stay on the path. The field and pond tend to blend together in the winter scenery. The paved path doesn't provide views of the meadow or pond. Both trails link together. At this intersection, there is a foot bridge that crosses the Burke Creek. Even in the middle of winter, the creek had a trickling flow of water. The sound was relaxing and serene. The path from this point on is paved. Right now, sections of the path have ice and snow even on a warm sunny winter day. So be prepared with the right footgear. Along the way, there are info boards describing the history. I found out that the indigenous Washoe lived in the area before European settlers, and Rabe meadow served as the Sky Harbor casino and air landing strip in the 1940s. Crazy to think there was a casino and air strip here. On the opposite side of the meadow are large, beautiful granite boulder clusters viewable from the path. And Aspen grooves which I imagine are flaming gorgeous in the Fall. The trail leads to the beach. The beach has a walking path made of a composite grooved decking about 3-4 feet wide. The beach can also be reached by driving to it; it has a paved parking lot and street parking. On the weekday I walked the trail, it had a good number of folks and dogs. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail but not allowed on the beach.
