This review is about the optometrist (Jolly Good) and not the glasses center. The optometrist center makes it seem as though you are required to either take pictures of your eyes for $39 or have your eyes dilated for part of the exam. They will tell you without the pictures you will need to get dilated which will effect your vision for 6-8 hours. They fail to tell you that these are optional and not required making it seem like it is mandatory. They are trying to scam you out of money by making it seem you are required to get one or the other when you are not required to do either. Go to America's Best or somewhere else that is honest with their patients. read more

I was immediately served and asked if she could look up my insurance. Great! I like quick service. She called my insurance to verify and I heard her say, "single vision." I corrected her to let her know my prescription is for progressive. (Why would you just assume single vision?) While I was looking at frames, I watched several customers come in to pick up glasses. The lack of personal attention they were given for fittings, etc. caused me to decide that unless the process was fabulous, I would not purchase my glasses here. Then, as she was finding out the cost, she asked, "What kind of progressives do you want?" My reply: " What do you mean?" "Well, these days there are different kinds of progressives." Me: "In what way?" "Well, the regular ones have a smaller field of vision." At no point did she show me an example or have a diagram... I ordered progressive lenses at the vision works store @ Creekside in New Braunfels. When I went to try them on I could not see through them properly. ( vision field was very limited. The associate said she will polish them and we will see if this fixes it for Me. I did not think you can polish the vision field to make adjustments but she did the procedure 3 times before sending them back to have them re-done. When I got them a few weeks later I had the same issue. The associate told me to try them for a couple days and if not I could go, return them and get normal reading glasses. I ended up returning them after a couple days and ordered regular reading lenses. When I got them they worked out for me. I had not gotten a refund. The progressive lenses were an extra $175! When I called they said they don't do refunds and someone should have told me that. Well, nobody did. I called the visionworks customer service line to complain. The lady wrote a ticket and said someone will call me to resolve the issue. To this day nobody has called me back! I feel deceived. I highly recommend to do business elsewhere read more

I purchased two pair of glasses on 12/7/22 one everyday and one work pair spending a total of 829.95 The staff was smiling and happy as I spent my money. the glasses were shipped to the visionworks store in Burnsville MN arriving about two weeks around Christmas. I picked them up and had them adjusted. My everyday pair have a very thin laminated bow and a couple weeks later I noticed a buckle in the bow where it was heated and bent. I think the stress eventually caused the buckle as these glasses have only gone from my face to the case. I go to Texas about every month as I have an apartment in MN and TX. I went to the Visionworks store around Jan 20th or so, showed them the glasses and told them what I thought had happened. The first thing the representative asked, who was the same person who sold me the glasses, was if I purchased insurance. I told her no I don't think so. Then she said there is nothing we can do and handed my glasses back. The representative did not want to know my name to look up my purchase, did not ask my purchase date or anything. I asked the representative, even if the damage was done by the technician in MN while trying to adjust the bow adding stress at the heating point and that later buckling Visionworks would not stand behind that. The representative said no there is nothing we will do because you did not purchase insurance on the glasses. I was astounded at the service, I was ready to chalk it up to just a loss and bad choice of business selection on my part and I was prepared to just look for new bows online. Then I got an email, if you are not 100% satisfied in the first 100 days etc., I thought, you have got to be kidding. It was at that time I decided to write the review. I called customer service and lodged the complaint. The customer service representative was phenomenal ********** Ten stars there. This is being elevated to the person in charge of that district. Depending on what happens will determine if I delete the post or not. If you tout 100% customer satisfaction the first 100 days, you better be ready to stand behind that. read more

I have been to this location several times and have gotten excellent customer service each time. The first time I went in was because my husband accidentally sat on his wire frame glasses and bent them. I had not purchased these glasses at a Visionworks but it was a convenient place to see if I could them repaired. They were very accommodating and didn't charge me a penny to reshape them. I was so impressed that when it was time for my severely visually impaired daughter to get new glasses, I went back. They were having a BOGO special and had to special order her lenses because the prescription is so strong. I opted in for the extra insurance because she also has some behavioral challenges where she will break her frames when upset. They said it would be 10-12 days and I got a text three days later that her glasses were ready! The fitting went well and both frames looked great. Sure enough, within a few weeks she broke her glasses at school. Because of the insurance, they were able to reuse the lenses in the same frame and only charged me $20. I was so grateful. And they were able to do the replacement while I waited. I will be returning to this store when it's time to update my prescription too! read more

We came here to get my 10 year old's glasses prescription filled. They get very busy, very quickly. Service is so so. We came back today because he lost a screw. They had 4 employees busy with guests. I could easily see one lady who was next. We stood for 5 minutes before acknowledgement of our presence. They least they could do was say they'd be with us in a minute. When we were Finally helped out we were taken care of by a kind lady named Sabrina who was helpful and made sure to readjust my son's lenses. The place was clean and organized. They seemed to have lots of selections and a sale rack too. read more

I went in this summer - it was my second time using them. I had a prescription filled last year and the experience was okay. This time, I walked in and it was very disorganized, people milling around and no one knew where to go. I waited almost a half hour and no one even spoke to me or acknowledged me even though I was at the counter waiting. I tried to get a couple of associates' attention - one completely ignored/walked by me. I would not go back. Maybe they just need more staff but that's not an excuse for ignoring paying customers - especially ones who are returning for business. read more

Visionworks Store and personnel are exceptional, however the optometrist onsite is discriminatory with whom they will see as a patient. I will be looking for an optometrist who can better assist and will not have policies that discriminate against certain patients because they are unable to comply with those "policies." staff are condescending and patronizing, as well. read more

I paid up front for my glasses on 7/18/20 and then brought in the prescription the next day. After 2 weeks, I called & they lost my prescription and never ordered my glasses. Never even called me. Eventually they ordered them I suppose, because when I went in to get a refund, they found them in the back after digging & digging around. There was no fitting, just gave them to me & off to the waiting customers. Very disappointed in the service and lack of response/ no phone calls AT ALL-- EVER. read more

On the April 4th we brought in my wife's prescription for glasses and we told them what size she needed . When my wife picked out her glasses and sun glasses she did not get fitted for them . On the 13th she was told that her glasses were ready , so we drove an hour to their location and were handed her glasses and they were wrong. She was not fitted . We told the rep and she said that there was nothing she could do but tell her manger ( which was not there ) to get the problem resolved. It has been over a week and no phone call. On 2-27-21 I went in to fill a new prescription. They were done wrong and I was told by a manager that they would call me later that day to tell me when they would come in and that they would put a rush on the repair. I called 4 other times to find out the date of when it was coming in and never received a date. Not once have I received a call of hey we're on it or sorry I missed your call, nothing. I'm just told repeatedly to wait for a text message. I asked for a refund and was told but we did this and this. What ever they are doing and not doing has not produced these eye glasses. It is now 3-17-21 and I still don't have them. I could have gone ANY where else and had them in 2 days or less. I regret ever walking into the place. read more

Mid-November: Went to Jolly Good Eye Care (LOVE THEM!) for my annual eye appointment. Took my prescription next door to Visionworks to get a new supply of contacts. The lady gets everything squared away for my one-year supply of contacts. When she prints my receipt she says, "I accidentally rang it up for only a 6 month supply." I ask if it could be changed and she told me no, it was too late to make changes because it had already been submitted to my insurance. Okay, fine. No big deal. Mistakes happen. Fast forward to mid December: My trial pair of contacts from my eye appointment are starting to irritate my eyes so I go to change them.. then I realize my contacts never came in. Weird. I call VisionWorks to see if they can give me an update on how much longer it will be until my contacts arrive... I give the man my information and he says, "that's weird. We don't have any record of you placing an order for contacts." I give him my information and he puts me on a long hold while he tries to figure out what happened. When he gets back on the line, he explains to me that the worker who put in my order entered it wrong so it never actually got processed and put in the stack to be ordered. He tells me he corrected the order and it will now be submitted. Slightly annoying, but no big deal. Considering the original worker also rang up my order wrong and only put in a 6 month supply instead of a full year, I'm thinking maybe she was new and still trying to figure out the system. Literally not a big deal at all- I was just glad I called so it could get sorted out. Side Note: the man who I spoke to also said he was going to go next door to Jolly Good Eye Care and ask them if they could set another trial pair out for me to pick up so I could switch my contacts out while I waited for my order. He said he would call me once he spoke to them to let me know if they were willing to do that. He never called me back. Not a big deal. He was probably busy and/ or got side tracked and didn't get around to it. My eyes were irritated, but I could survive until my box of contacts came in, so it was fine. Fast forward to mid January: Still no contacts. At this point, my eyes are honestly more irritated than I am. But, I want to know where my contacts are, so I call Vision Works again. I explain my situation to the person who answered the phone and he put me on another long hold while he looked into my account. When he got back on the line he told me that my contacts had arrived and had been there for a while but, upon looking at their call records, it looked like they had never called to let me know. Okay, fine. Honestly I'm just excited to know my contacts are here! He tells me that he is going to go ahead and mail the box of contacts to me to save me from having to make a trip as a way to apologize for the inconvenience. I thought this was so kind! He told me that he was going to get everything ready to go right then and that he would call me as soon as he made the shipping label so he could give me the tracking number. I never got a call... Again, my head is thinking this is no big deal. He probably just got busy and forgot to call back with the tracking number. But, that's fine- as long as my contacts got mailed, all is well. A few days pass and no contacts. Mind yourself they are located in New Braunfels and I live in Bulverde... so, I'm not sure exactly how long it will take for them to be delivered, but I was thinking it shouldn't be too long. Surely within a week... max. A week passes and still no contacts. I consider calling, but I've already called so many times & I don't want to be annoying/ seem impatient. So, I decide to give it a few more days. Another week passes and still no contacts. It's now been 2 weeks since they were supposedly shipped to me. I'm honestly super worried that maybe they had the wrong address for me or it got lost in the mail. I decide to call them again. I explain the whole situation... again. And, THIS is the phone call where I lost all patience and grace for them. The first lady puts me on a long hold while she "looks into it". I am them put on the line with a man who I THINK is the same man I spoke to two weeks before. He seems super annoyed and snippy the whole time. He gives me the tracking number... the whole time acting like this was the tracking number from two weeks ago and that it should be here soon, I just need to be patient. As soon as I hang up with him, I look up the tracking number... the tracking number is still in pre-shipment "waiting to be dropped off at UPS".. I check back the next day (Sunday), and it's in route. And then, the next day (Monday), it gets delivered. They had never shipped it but, instead of admitting that and apologizing, they acted annoyed with me for calling again. Extremely disorganized and terrible communication. The ONLY reason I'm even giving them two stars is because I finally got my contacts. read more

Was happily looking to spend money even though I don't have insurance. The lady said pick all the glasses you want then come back so I can sanitize them and you can try them on. Did that.. found 20 dropped it down to 8 then 6 pairs. There were only 2 people working. She wanted to help the people that needed their glasses sized and fitted down. I sat there for 37 minutes while she took the easy customers. After almost an hour at the store I left and left her to put all the glasses I took out to put away. I heard good reviews for this center, and it was on our insurance list, so we were excited to get my son his glasses. The staff are super friendly, but the lack of communication takes that all away from them. We are going on one month of still waiting for his glasses. After two weeks of not hearing anything I called and was informed they would look into why his glasses had not arrived. Never received a call back. I called again a few days later and again told they were not sure why they had not received them back and would follow up. No problem, however, I was never called with an update, again. Called a third time on April 9, 2022 to get an update, and the notes for my sons chart stated I had been contacted to discuss they were not able to add transition to the lens' and that they would continue making without and would be in office on April 13, 2022. I was never contacted to discuss the transitional lens issue. I am calling now again for a 4th follow up on April 14th because I was not contacted yesterday, and am now being told glasses are not due to come in until April 23, 2022. I am not easily disgruntled and I tend to look over things because stuff does happen, but the one thing that will deter me from utilizing a facility again is lack of communication. I know it is not the facilities fault per say, but it is the facilities fault for not providing good customer service and keeping a customer in the loop of what is happening with their product. It is easy to be understandable when you are given the opportunity, but it is hard to keep your cool when you are having to chase down information that should be provided. Will hopefully get glasses in and adjusted, but will not be back for any future orders, sadly. read more

This place saved me today! I broke my glasses on Sunday and had to travel for business the following night. I was fearing that no one would be able to fill my script in same day. First called my regular optometrist of 10 years and they were able to email me a copy of my script but could not do glasses because they did not have my lenses in stock. Ok but I have my script....so called Vision Works in San Marcos. No luck but he was quick to say the New Braunfels location could help. I quickly called this location and sure enough after taking my script info and checking the stock I was in luck!! They were able to get me 2 pairs of glasses that were reasonable considering my difficult script. All before 3pm!! They were very patient and kind. read more

I don't understand how this place has such a low rating. I came here to make sure that Visionworks gets the rating it deserves. I've interacted with this location on two separate occasions and they've been wonderful. The first time was 6 months ago. My dad, who is mobility and cognitively impaired, had damaged his glasses earlier that same morning. He had purchased his glasses at this location two years previously. My mother and I took him to this store and they took care of him right away. They were extremely patient and kind. Two weeks ago, my father was discharged from the nursing home. While he was in rehabilitation there, he lost his glasses. When he got home, I called Visionworks to see what we needed to do to replace them. Luis was amazing. He checked their computer to make sure they still had his measurements and prescription. They didn't have his frames in stock. Luis check all the locations and found a pair of frames in Missouri. He placed the order, let me pay over the phone via credit card and assured me that they'd be ready within three weeks. Today, in less than two weeks, I received a text that they were ready. My dad has been asking for his glasses since he got home. I was so happy to be able to give them to him. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for Luis and Visionworks. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a job well done and for going above and beyond what you needed to to help my dad and my family out. read more

The older lady, manager, is very rude, she talks down to you as if you are ignorant about what you may or may not like in glasses. When you have a problem with purchased glasses, and try to get them fixed, she is very rude and obnoxious about how you may have handled them. read more

My family and I have been going to this particular Visionworks for 5 years now. but we are going to change where we get our contacts and glasses. When we first moved here, they were very friendly and the manager Patricia was always smiling and so friendly. As I went in tonight to pick up my daughter's first pair of glasses ever, I've noticed she is not as friendly, does not look at customers and smile like she used to. As my daughter was getting fitted for her glasses they had her try them on and said ...there you go. I'm the one that told her to make sure they fit by moving her head up and down, etc... They did not do any kind of education on how to take care of them how to properly take them on and off to keep down wear and tear. I know when I got my glasses as a child, they did that with me and it was effective. More effective hearing from the "professionals" versus the mom. I then asked if there were any eyeglasses wipes that came with the glasses the technician replied that they did not provide those anymore, but we could purchase some. We spend at least $2,000 a year at Visionworks between glasses and contacts for a family of four. Unfortunately because of changes and friendliness, twice forgetting to call or even order contacts and me having to follow up twice, and now this with my daughter's first pair of glasses. we will now take our eye wear needs elsewhere. read more

Scam. Buy one get one free is not buy one get one free. After selecting a frame and lens my total was over $800. OUCH. I do have insurance. Insurance dropped the unit down to $400 and something. Still expensive but much more reasonable. Here's the catch. Since insurance would pay for it, you no longer get two pairs for the price of one. HMMMM. One pair is $400 or buy two for $800 and we will tell you that one of the glasses is free. What a dishonorable way of doing business. read more

This is a great place and very convenient in the Creekside area of New Braunfels. It can be tricky to find initially but is right next door to the Sprint store and across the sidewalk from Newks eatery. The eyeglass section is especially helpful, super friendly, and knowledgeable. Walk in... nobody greets you... sit your own self down.. patiently wait and they do not even acknowledge us or say we will be right with you... waited 30 minutes before we had to leave because we were obviously not going to be helped any time soon! I would rather drive out of town than to deal with these rude people.. worst customer service! Upon entering the store I was not helped. Wound up going through 2 pairs of single vision glasses. Second pair I got were Armani Exchange designer frames priced at $180, after I picked up the glasses the frame was spread so far apart they wouldn't stay on my face. I was told this was due to my high prescription lenses pressing against the frame. Never had this issue before, after 2 adjustments and still no improvement, I decided to take them back for a refund. I also noticed the frames were made in China and very flimsy. After giving me back my money, I asked the manager why the frames didn't reach behind my ears like they're supposed to. She then informs me there's a number on the frame indicating the length. My old glasses were 145, these were 135. She was the one who sold me the glasses, and couldn't even inform me of this prior to purchase. They seem to get alot of returns, so unless you know exactly what you need including the dimensions the frame needs to be in order to get a proper fit, stay away from this location. read more

Friendly, Professional, competent, well trained, welcoming. I was impressed with the service I received and with the employees at this location in New Braunfels. They clearly knew what they were doing (which was a breath of fresh air compared to other eyeglass stores I have visited). One of the employees helping me was being trained and (one) of the supervisor(s) instructing her made a point to show her how to mark the glasses from eye level as to where the progressive lenses should be placed. I never knew why ,with the last sunglasses I had ,that I had to tilt my head up, and look way down at the center bottom to see clearly where I should have been able to see clearly looking straight ahead at eye level. It was because the lenses were not marked correctly as to where the center field of vision should be. I am impressed and will visit this location again when I need new lenses. read more

I just picked up my new glasses last night, and I was all excited. As I went to try them on I noticed a smug so I checked them over and that was no smug it was some weird lines that appeared to look like scratches but weren't. I'm very disappointed that now I have to take them back and wait longer just to be able to wear them. On top of that I spent almost 500$ for them and they aren't perfect the first time. I'm taking them back today and they need to fix the problem they over looked!!! read more
