I made an appointment 2 months in advance and when I showed up for the appointment I was told I should have received a text message to confirm. I've had a terrible experience with Visionworks from the initial optometrist exam that said I had a detached retina, which I didn't have, to the glasses that obviously didn't fit me. I've had to go into vision Works shops four times with two different pairs of glasses that still don't fit. To add insult to injury I wanted the protection plan and buy some policy. I went there with my sister months ago as she got her glasses tightened, they gladly tightened mine also even though they weren't purchased there. I went back two weeks ago because my glasses had broken, they could not repair them but offered to put the lens in a frame. I got an inexpensive frame, no hard sales pitches. I was also told that the AARP membership got me a 50% discount. So helpful. my husband took his glasses there ( also purchased elsewhere), and they cheerfully fixed them. The customer service is amazing!! I wish I had gotten all the names but regretfully, I didn't. The only name I had was Zenobia because she held my frames till I got back with my AARP card. I had an appointment today at this location from the time you walk in was greeted and seen immediately. The whole staff was great the first person a young lady that did my exam to the eye doctor was very professional and answered all my questions. I scheduled an eye exam, so I could exhaust my current Health Spending funds. But alas, I arrived 11 minutes late to the appointment. It took almost two minutes to navigate through the parking lot, because ppl behave confused in parking lots, driving slow, etc.. So, I arrive 11 minutes late. First off, let's talk about bad customer service. No greeting when you enter. If I'm not mistaken, customers is how businesses stay open and staff paid. But, I digress. I'm 11 minutes late, I apologize and give my name. The guy at the desk (with an unfriendly disposition to be working at the front of the store facing customers), I assume looks up my appointment. I assume, because he did not say anything to me. Not one word.. Again, bad customer service. He continues looking a good 2, almost 3 minutes. A women walks in behind me, give her name and he sends her to the back for her appointment. But, not two words about my appointment. Hmmm...I tell him that I do have an appointment and have the confirmation. He FINALLY SPEAKS... says I'll have to wait to see if someone cancels and that they give customers a 10 minute grace period. Thanks for letting me know.. It took him a good 2 almost 3 minutes to do whatever he was doing on the computer. I looked at my watch and it was 13 minutes past my appointment time. Also, I see another reviewer gave them one star a month ago, because of an excessive wait time. I guess they're turning over a new leaf of punctuality. I left. Why would I wait around to "see" if someone cancels?? Is this the only place in town? Messaged me several times about a scheduled appointment. When I showed up they said I wasn't scheduled. A joke of a business.

No respect for peoples time. I waited over an hour to see the dr who was still clearly very much in the middle of an appointment and wasn't wrapping up anytime soon. No one even gave me the heads up there would be over an hour wait. I left work early to be on time and respectful of their time, it was not reciprocated. Also it's the dead of winter and I'm bundle up in multiple layers and not once did anyone offer for a place to hang my jacket up. I picked visionworks because I thought it was be more efficient. BIG MISTAKE. I will be going back to private practice and have learned my lesson. Only redeeming factor was the Drs assistant was extremely sweet. I had an annual eye exam done by Dr. Elizabeth Hanno, OD, she was extremely knowledgeable and patient with me and took the time to explain my Dx and treatment. Additionally, her staff was so kind and the process was seamless with minimal wait times. They take all necessary precautions with the COVID pandemic sanitizing everything diligently - even the glasses you try on. Highly recommend this location and staff. Definitely need vision insurance as it was quite pricey even with it. read more

This is my 4th time here and my last. The doctor here now is EXTREMELY slow, which might work great for her older patients but I don't have the time for that. My appointment was over an hour ago and they told me I still need to wait at least another 15 minutes which we all know means 30 minutes or more. All I want is a refill on my contact prescription and they won't give it to me without seeing her first, not even a trial pair. Very frustrated because as in most doctors offices they don't care how long you wait, we're at their mercy. I think a private practice will be getting my business from now on. read more

Our family was visiting Chicago when part of my glasses broke. We went on driving the place and I had to enjoy the scenery with my near blind eyesight. We then stopped by this place and I told the lady in the front what was wrong with my glasses. She took it in the back, 5 minutes later brought it out good as new with no charge. So thankful, the trip was saved. read more

This place is is absurd. I went there last year for glasses and swore I would never return. This year I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Mistake!!! I took a contact eye exam and this was on the third...they told me my contact should be here around seven to ten business days. Its now the 20th and they told me they are on back order...whatever that means!?!. I don't care how blind you are, it does not take almost a month to receive contact lens. Poor management , not properly trained in customer service, knowledgeable about nothing! People please stay away from vision works. Horrible service! They prescribed me contacts and told me that they were gonna be ready on June 4th. It's the 5th of July and I still haven't received a text or call to go pick them up. I decided to call and ask, and apparently I have special contacts that take longer to be shipped, but I was never informed about this. I leave out of the country tomorrow and they said that my contacts will be ready by the end of the week. This is ridiculous, yet they have charged me. Just don't go. read more

I never write reviews, if the service bad I just never return. But customer service at this location is terrible. Get reminder after reminder to get the annual eye exam for my daughter, finally schedule it, get a call 1 hour before the appointment the called to say the was verifying my insurance and it says my daughter was ineligible to get the exam. They canceled the appointment, so I rescheduled it for January 12th. It was the end of December so a couple more weeks wouldn't hurt. But then something wasn't right because I know you get an annual exam each year, I did mine so my daughter still had hers remaining, so I checked my insurance online and my daughter was eligible to get hers for the year. They already canceled her appointment, tried to call back to tell them their mistake, but no one answered the phone. Then my daughter broke her frames just a couple days later, called up and ask can I buy just frames so I can switch the lenses, was told I can't buy frames by itself. I would have to buy lenses and frames. I'm like wtf never heard of that. I called Visionworks in Chicago Ridge and they told me I can buy frames without lenses. So I went to them and explained what the Visionworks in Evergreen Park said and he said he doesn't understand why they said that. Saturday, January 9th, I confirmed my appointment and filled out the paperwork via email, just to get there today for them to tell me my appointment has been canceled. I say why ain't nobody call me and tell me. She said we called u Saturday to tell u it had been canceled. I tell her why would you all send me an email to confirm my appointment if you all canceled it make it make sense. She tells me they don't have control over that. I am so used to businesses that don't give a crap about the customer that I was shocked at how helpful the workers are at this Visionworks. From the people at the front desk, the optometrist, everybody - helpful, nice. What more could I want??? Everyone is eager to help the moment you walk in the door. No waiting around forever to see the doctor. The workers are very friendly and patient with you; some even came to recognize my name and face. I am a marketing expert and businessman and when I tell you that their organizational structure is horrible, it is. Number one, I call and they tell me that they will take me as a walk-in and to come before 2 (doctor goes to lunch then). I said no problem, I come in at 12:20. They then say that they have to take appointments before me. I said ok but I thought they had better structure with walk-ins. I waited all the way til two as they took about 3-4 people before me then they tell me to come back at 3. I come back at three and they say they have 2 now and I should reschedule. This is when I got pissed off. If you are taking walk ins there should be better structure on how walk-ins get seen as well as appointments! If all appointments come in, walk-ins can't be seen and that is RIDICULOUS. I'm still sitting here now and the only reason I'm giving two stars in because the African-American lady is trying to fit me in regardless of appointments. They want you to sit in here hours and hours in hopes that someone don't show up to an appointment. That's not good business. They have to do better. My suggestion, is have a time slot every other hour that is for walk-ins only. Do better vision works. I'll take my blue cross somewhere else! read more

Avoid this place. It's bad news. My first visit was wonderful. The optometrist was great. The lady who helped me with the frames was fantastic -- one of the best I've ever seen. So why the 1 star review? First of all, they never called me to tell me my glasses were in. I only found out by calling them. When I went to pick up my glasses, I had a horrible experience. The lady behind the desk was rude and graceless and has no business being in retail. She handed by my glasses in a case and said, "Here, they're done." I stood around waiting to be told which table to go to for a fitting but she walked away. So I went over to a desk and sat down and put them on. I was trying to see how they fit. Vicious lady walks over and says, "They're perfect." I've been wearing glasses for over 50 years and know that you can't fit glasses by looking. It usually takes someone 15 to 20 minutes to get the fit right on me. You have to feel where the pressure points are on the head and make sure they are balanced properly on the ears, which in my case are uneven. (As I sit writing this I can feel the left ear piece digging into my head and know I will have to go someplace and pay to have them fitted.) I asked about accessories. She couldn't be bothered. Pointed across the store and said "Go look". Never once did she sit down and spend time with me. It's ashamed that the good work of some employees is absolutely nullified by a rotten apple. Once this Visionworks has your money they could care less about providing full service. Do yourself a favor: GO ELSEWHERE! read more
