When we arrived they tried to get us to move it again by saying they were an hour behind. The staff did not look professional for a facility where medical appointments take place. Can't even give 1 star. The office intentionally schedules patients alternating from the optician to the doctor. They are not backed up as they will tell you. Expect to be there for a minimum of an hour and a half. This time does include picking your frames and ordering them with the technician. read more

Helpful, friendly. Very thorough eye exam and the optometrist explained everything much better than anyone ever has in the past. Prescribed a different type of contact lens that is so much better than what was pushed on me by America's Best. Love the optometrist, but the rest is a whole different situation and it was awful! They can't even be bothered to email or mail you any of your medical/optical prescription, measurements, and billing information. They expect you to physically come into their office wait for hours while they're waiting on others to give you what is legally your information instead of simply mailing or emailing it directly to you and that's on top of the awful experience and overcharging me for eyeglasses that don't fit. The staff at this store honored the letter and spirit of the 100-day guarantee. I ordered (1) distance glasses, (2) prescription sunglasses, and (3) reading/computer glasses. Initially, I had problems with all three. When I couldn't see well with the distance glasses, the optometrist determined that the lenses had a manufacturing defect. The store ordered new distance glasses, which turned out fine. When I couldn't see well with the sunglasses, the optician determined that the frames didn't align very well with my eyes. The store let me pick out new frames and reordered the sunglasses, which turned out fine. The reading/computer glasses allowed me to read but not to see the computer. The store reordered the glasses using my old prescription, which I have used for both reading and the computer. The new reading/computer glasses turned out fine. I had to visit the store about six times before I was done, and the staff was cordial each time. read more

Clownshow!! I made an appointment online, provided insurance info at the same time, OPTED OUT of further comms, and then got bombarded with texts and emails, reminding me of the appointment time and that I need to provide insurance info that I already provided. I also received a phone call as a reminder. I showed up 10 mins early, checked in, in case I needed to provide further info, and then napped for 40 minutes before walking out. They clearly don't give a crap about their customers, and I'm taking my need for 3 new pairs of glasses and one set of prescription sunglasses to My Eye Doctor. Two visits in a row, one year apart, we were forced to wait over 40 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. The sales floor staff spends most of their time on the phone with insurance companies while customers are told to "just browse" a section of wildly overpriced glasses. Facility is so understaffed the actual optometrist is met with over video chat. When you wait weeks for an appointment only to arrive at the location and be told they are understaffed and you will have to wait even longer to be seen. Feels bad. Still worth 2 stars as the actual test administrator was professional and helpful. I will never use VisionWorks again. read more

Worst Customer Service Ever!! Employees, including the supervisor, act like your not even there, walking past me many times. Appt was at 10am, at 10:45 I was still sitting there. Got up walked out. Was going to be paying top dollar, up to $300 for a pair of glasses, that's what I paid there last time anyway. When I left I went straight to Walmart, had LEI help me and was in and out with my new glasses ordered and my current pair fixed for $236.00. Will be shopping for my glasses at Walmart from now on. Vision Works you can keep your terrible customer service and your high price tag glasses. You just lost another customer due to your unorganized, unprofessional behavior today. My wife and I had appointments 20 mins apart, we both had to wait over 1 hour to be seen. Was notified that our new glasses were in, ready to be picked up. I have been there to pick up my glasses twice, each time I was told it would be at least a 30 min wait to be seen . When i go there I notice the place is full of people waiting and no staff to be seen anywhere. I gave them one star for the ease of making the appointment, after that , not good is a understatement...If I ever get my glasses this time I will not return, it's got to be better than this read more

I got a appointment right away but after that it was down hill. I was never notified when my glasses came in and spent an hour an a half trying to get ahold of customer service. When I finally did they made excuses why I wasn't notified. I still haven't heard from them as to when I cod puck up my glasses. I stopped in here to have our nephew's glasses repaired (cousins were wrestling around) and brought them in to see if we could get them fixed. Katie helped me out and she was amazing and very understanding. I left them there as I had another appointment. By the time I left the parking lot she had already called me back to say they were fixed. Awesome customer service- I'll remember Visionworks in the future for when we need to upgrade glasses just based on her. They are very nice, knowledgeable, professional & have a great facility here - but even with appointments they way overbook & if u come here expect to spend hours on a visit that should take at best an hour. Now I understand why we could so easily get in here as compared to others - but at least we could get in, & again they are very professional and courteous here. read more

Don't go, stay away! Trying to schedule an eye exam appointment was very difficult. They have an automated system that is extremely user unfriendly and will not allow access to a live person. After arriving for my appointment, getting checked in and waiting 20 minutes a technician came up to me and said that the doctor was not there. She said that they just had a new doctor start and they didn't know his availability yet. She also stated that they tried to call me to tell me this. I told her I missed a call from the same number that I used to make the appointment that would only allow me to use the automated system and that the person who called didn't even leave a message explaining the situation. She then proceeded to offer me a new appointment a little over a month later. Bottom line, I wasted my entire morning for nothing. I don't know if it was just this location or the entire company but the entire focus of this business is not where it should be. In the end it was apparent that the technician was sorry for the mix up but it was neither her fault or responsibility. I will not be returning. read more

Great little eye care center. Super friendly staff. The stage Made sure we were fully taken care of the entire time we were there. They explained every piece of the process thoroughly. I have numerous bad experiences with Visionworks, first I bought 175.00 frames in to have my lens put in and they lost them. These frames were irreplaceable. I continued to look for frames for 8 months, I finally found a frame at another store but when I went to use my script they said it wasn't signed, so the called Vision works and they said the Dr. was no longer there and the other Dr. wouldn't sign it. I called customer care and after 7 days and multiple calls to customer care, I finally got someone to take care of getting the script for me. But I had to escalate it up to the regional manager. Saturday I took my Grandaughter for an eye exam ( I must have lost my mind) The Dr. she was great!, but when we came out the customer assistance person asked me what insurance I was using and I told her and she said " is that state or company provider" I said I wasn't sure but that I had called and they said they took the insurance, she said well we don't take the State insurance since this was for my grandaughter I really wasn't sure which it was, so I asked her to look at it, she said "no" I assure you we don't take state, I explained to her again, that I called and they said they took it, she then said that "they have a lot of new people who don't know what insurance we take" I asked her then what was I suppose to do with the exam which was covered by insurance, I was told that it would be $45. I told her I didn't have that and again that I was told this was covered, and AGAIN I asked her to look at the card. Which she would not do, I guess she assumed we looked like people who would have state insurance. So I told her I wasn't paying and I left. I then went outside and called my grandaughter's mother who said, no they do take the insurance. So I went back in and the "boy" who works there just kept pointing at me saying " put on your mask" like 10 times, while I had forgotten about the mask, I was trying to put it on and he was freaking out. Anyway, I told them that yes they did take the insurance and I also in anger said " if that girl would have stopped jacking her jaw and just looked at the insurance there would not have been a problem." and I asked to speak to the manager, of course, no manager, and they still wouldn't look at my insurance, but they did ask me to leave. I have called for two days now been on hold over an hour 3 times and no one will answer the phone so I can get this resolved. This is the worst eyeglass place in town, never will we go back. I can't even explain how frustrated I am because they can't do their job and they won't pick up the phone. I will also be reporting them to the insurance company and letting them know they refused my insurance and refused to give me her script. Save yourself from some aggravation and don't go there. read more

My main reason for having an eye exam today was that I wished to update my expired license and, being over 40 years old, the state of Maryland requires us to provide vision certification from a doctor. It also served as a good time to get an eye exam. As the appointment was approaching, I scheduled a visit to Visionworks. I too normally prefer to have an in-person appointment. But, owing to health restrictions due to COVID, we had to connect virtually. The connection was super, the staff were great and the equipment appeared to be top-notch. All very good. The only negative thing I would mention is that the main reason for my appointment remains unfinished since the doctor was not physically present. I am just hoping the "vision certification" can be submitted electronically as is suggested by the staff. Fingers crossed! read more

I had a 9:30AM appointment at a different eye doctor. Got there at 9:00 the front desk staff as so rude and disrespectful I left and went straight to Visionworks. I explained to Keisha what happened and she was able to squeeze me in for an eye exam right then and there. It was the best experience. Katie was the associate who assisted me and she was super sweet and helpful. The optometrist was AMAZING. He made my exam a breeze and I literally could've stayed there and talked to him ALL day. The entire staff was professional and pleasant. They totally made me forget about my ordeal at that other place. read more

The worst customer service ever. Purchased two pairs of glasses, paid in full. Our vision insurance notified us that we were overcharged by Visionworks. We informed Visionworks. We received another bill from Visionworks stating that we owed them more money. We contacted them again about the overcharge....no response. Now we were told that that billing cycle was closed....tough luck chuck. Next problem. They made sunglasses from my eye doctors prescription. I never felt they were correct (left lens). I never wore them. I had my eye doctor test lens, said it was off .50. Visionworks said it was correct. No satisfaction. I will never go back there again. read more

Went to Visionworks #00221 in the Wildwood Shopping Ctr in California, MD to purchase prescription sunglasses in May 2019. After picking them up and wearing them, arms of glasses turn outward and are so loose that they'll fall off if I look down. After going back 3 times to have them 'adjusted' which didn't work, I GIVE UP! I have a $250 pair of glasses that are useless to me! read more

The doctor was really great, however the ladies in the glasses area were not. First, I had told them I needed to get to another appointment so I only had 15min to look for a new pair of glasses. The lady I was working with put into her computer that I was doing everything today. This will come back up later. Second, I showed her 2 pairs of glasses that I liked online and asked if they had anything similar. She pulled a lot of glasses that weren't similar at all and gave input that wasn't encouraging or helpful. Third, things were taking a while so I said that I needed to get going. I asked for my new prescription to take home with me and she said snarky, "well you have to pay first." Fine, but the attitude was unnecessary. From there she started having this attitude like I was being an inconvenience. I guess since she jumped ahead and put in the system that I was doing everything this visit so she needed to call corporate to get a code to override things. The internet was being slow so she had to try multiple computers and just kept giving me attitude about it. I ended up being late for my next appointment. Even though they were scheduled 2 hours apart from each other! They also had all the same glasses as last year so I'll be going elsewhere to buy my glasses. Lastly, today I got an email that they scheduled an appointment for next year without ever confirming or talking to me about it. I canceled it right away and will not be returning. read more
